Re: 2014 draft prospects Early edition

The depth of this draft is why its almost always a bad idea to trade three first round picks for any one player. Griffin is the best player on this roster, but even acknowledging that, he's probably not better than what will be available at no. 2 (Clowney/Bridgewater/et al). And the Redskins are now down a pick in a potentially franchise changing draft.

RG3 is going to develop and no one is going to regret the trade that was made for him, but that deal is a reminder that you can't build a strong franchise on the backs of bad ideas.

If Griffin was in this draft, he would go #1 hands down.

I don't really even think Luck would be a slam dunk 1st overall guy in this draft. Manziel might go ahead of him, too.

Manziel is the closest thing to Brett Favre that the draft has produced in 10 years, and he's not even my top quarterback in this one.

And who might that be?

Bridgewater is the best quarterback coming out since...I dunno, Peyton maybe. Highest grade I've ever put on a quarterback.

I like Teddy B a lot and if I were Houston I would take him. That said, let's not get carried away with Teddy B praise.

IMO Quake is right when he says that Bobby Gryphon easily would be the first pick in this draft.

I think Bridgewater would still go #1 overall even with our QB in the draft. Bridgewater is so much more NFL ready than RG3 was. His ceiling isn't nearly as as high as RG3's though, in my opinion.

Anyone remember this stat? Through the first 3 games of the 2011 season, RG3 was 70-82, 962 yards, 13 TDs, 0 INTs. Yep, that's our QB.

Manziel better land in a good spot or he's gonna be a major bust. Bridgewater should excell any place he goes.

No.

Losing our 2nd rounder AND our better-than-average (or at least competent and cheap) backup QB to draft a player in a position that's not in the worst shape...no thanks.

Now if we lose Orakpo before the draft...maybe.

Throw in a 4/5th round with the move up, then yes

We might have a pretty bitchin' LB unit with Rak, Kerrigan, Riley, and Mosley.

They would be pretty young too.

You just can't let the RGIII trade go, can you? What was your plan to get us a Franchise QB two years ago? Wait until we have a 3-10 season and then draft Bridgewater? Somehow, I doubt that.

This is a "a potentially franchise changing draft", you say? First, that remains to be seen. Second, so what? I think we had a franchise changing draft two years ago when we got RGIII.

If, as you say, RGIII is going to develop and no one will regret the trade the Skins made for him, then how could the trade that landed RGIII have been a bad idea?
