Think he's relatively heavily involved in the draft process and "internal evaluations" whatever that means

As for Jay Gruden, I don't have the stats to back it up but I think that rookie coaches who struggle early on but turn it around usually do it for the next team they coach
Maybe, but i would imagine its because they arent given a real chance to prove themselves, no?
Wow...we blew the protection? Is this fcking clown serious? You can't play action and expect Morris et al to protected when they overload one side and send he house. He sounds like RG3. No wonder nobody takes responsibility or is held accountable!

Get this garbage ass mofo out of here!
he sd the TE was responsible with the tackle fanning out to help ... and he took full responsibility for the call - switching it from a run to pass after the colts took a timeout.

he couldnt have been more responsible or accountable if you listen to his post-game presser.

im feel like im in the twillight zone ... are fans really calling to fire a first year head coach who came into this shit show of an organization .. a first year head coach who seems to have a pretty lethal passing attack with JAG qbs as long as RG3 isnt under center ....

6 sacks = problem

49 pts against = problem

insurmountable holes in roster = problem

392 passing yards, 3 tds no ints = not the problem
I hear ya. But if we are reaching on your example like that...then thats a major problem where the GM and scouts are not on the same page.

Its time for Bruce to leave the personel game. He needs to check out and go to team Pres. Time to bring in a guy who not afraid to tell Snyder and his Lacky Posse how to run an organization
You are correct. But as mredskins said, it is doubtful that Snyder would hire such a person. I would add that it is doubtful the Allen would allow this.

By overstepping his expertise, in my mind Bruce has gone from ray of sunshine to central tumor.

I realize that having a real GM is not a magic bullet. But our current way has not worked.

As for Gruden, the subject of the thread, it would be unfair to can him after one season, given the other stuff that has gone on.

He didnt take responsibility, he blamed the failure on the player when in fact he was out coached all game long. That sort of play call gets you fired, especially when you can't covert 3rd and 4th downs. If RG3 is lacking in fundamentals Gruden is too. He is so deficient in so many ways...can't call plays...can't convert 3rd downs, can't score in the redzone...the skins weren't this bad last year and we can't blame RG3 since he is not on the field anymore.

I thought we had to go for it there,” Gruden said. “Originally, I had a nice inside power play called, and then when they took the timeout, I saw they lined up and I saw they had a guy play bump and run on DeSean [Jackson] with a safety — not much help. So, I decided on a play-action pass and launch it to DeSean and try to get it. I got a little greedy. That’s all I can say, and we blew the protection.”

“Our tight end should’ve fanned out there [blocking Walden], our tackle should’ve fanned out there [blocking Werner],” the coach explained. “They both should’ve went out to help. It didn’t happen though. It was unfortunate. It was a big play in the game, though. That’s for sure. Should’ve caught it. Shouldn’t have run it. Should have done something other than what I did.”

The 4th down play where McCoy got blind-sided, I don't know if Jackson was open but it looked like Paul was wide open on a crossing route. Is that on the coach? Or is it on the TE who blew the protection? I'm sure they've practiced and ran that play many times. Sorry but I can't blame the coach on that cause his players are too stupid to know their assignments. This is what really bad football teams do. Blow their assignments and have mental errors.

Re: The everything Gruden thread

you call a play. The players do not block. What are you supposed to do as a play caller? Assume they won't do what you practiced and planned?

Now, different question: why did the guys blow the blocks? Bad preparation? Bad onfield communication? Something the other team did to throw off our guys? What?

SOunds to me like we've got to simplify things, until we get our shit together. And that means we can't do as much as we'd like. And that means people will be calling Gruden conservative and timid.

Here's my view of the offense and the coaching: the system works fine, even with Colt, the no-armed bandit. We need a better o-line: draft and FA next season. And we need to fix our prep and communication issues. Most likely, that comes with keeping a system in place and working hard to perfect it. And that means keeping Gruden. Plus, there's no one better in the wings, to be sure. Stick with it.

Haslett, on the other hand, has been here five awful years. Time to clean house there. Please.

Oy.

One of the biggest places I would like to see improvement in the offseason is special teams. I don't know how you can get so many penalties on ST. The Skins have the 3rd worst average starting position for drives. Before the Offense even makes it onto the field they are in a hole.

I don't think we were watching the same team, the last time the Skins didn't look like a dumpster fire was from the second half of 2012.

I watch Griffin play, and keep anticipating he will fire off a rocket pass that a receiver may have to make a great play reaching up and getting, but will catch in stride for big yardage. Or run circles around ends and linebackers and make great plays. But it's not happening. Had that wonderful stretch to end 2012, inconsistent from injury but still happened some in 2013. He's still regressing in 2014. Time to set aside nostalgia and play the better QB.

I have no reason to trust such a media report a month before the season is over and firm decisions are made.

Gruden - same message every press- We have to coach these guys up...... I say lets hold the everyone accountable. (Can't fire owner, damn), Allen needs to go away from personal discisions, if he had a different last name he would've been fired, Haz - gone - go back to 4-3 defense, OC - gone, I give Gruden 1 more year, if no change - gone or demote to OC, dead beat/awful players - gone. Gruden - Oline is okay...whats he smoking......

So sick of this, In Madden I excel with the current players.......
