Thought CT looked good today. But yeah Kelly needed to be in there at times.
CT did look good today. Great 3rd down back, hand him the ball on occasion to keep the D honest, but he has no business being the feature back in some of those situations today. I hope they give Fat Bob 20-25 carries next week...use Jones to spell him now and then, continue to bring CT in on passing downs. That is the formula... |
Re: Skins lions post game
You can't leave that many points on the field and expect to win against anybody in this league, especially on the road.

Re: Skins lions post game
Positives: Pretty much everything apart from the bulletS in our feet.
Negatives: Bullets in our feet... I still have a hard believing we lost that one... D played really well. Playcalling on that last drive was shy, but give Barry some time, he is a young D coordinator, he'll learn, he did at the beginning of the year, learned to bring pressure, gameplan better etc... O played well enough to outscore them... O-line played really good on the running game, pretty good on pass protec apart from a few plays... Add a little bit of murphy's in the mix (that completed pass bouncing of the back of Breeland...) and... How did we lose this one again? |
Re: Skins lions post game
It wasn't Barry's fault at all. It was Jones and Hopkins with 2 brutal mistakes.
You homers seem to be more pissed with me than that pathetic group of overpaid losers we call the Washington Redskins. Fans like me deserve more and expect more than the lousy performance we saw today.
You deserve more? Dude, this is such a childish over reaction. I'm cracking up thinking you must be crying, with a huge snot-bubble coming out of your nose, as you type this crazy shit. Hopefully your Mom is coming with the meatloaf soon. HAHAHA. |
Re: Skins lions post game
tough tough lost but we did have a 4 game winning streak. Every team has games like this. got hope Norman and Trent are ok and just move on.

Classic case of letting a team hang around long enough to bite you in the end.

Re: Skins lions post game
As somebody said, we aren't a bad team, but we certainly aren't one that can overcome turnovers and mistakes. Offense only scoring 3 points in the half is mind boggling. You can't play 3/4 of the game shitty and expect anything good.
I still find Joe Barry inadequate. The man has no balls. Going prevent defense is only going to prevent you from wining. Stick with what has been working and let your players play. Period. I'd rather them get burnt deeped playing their defense than to give up this kind of loss with a "prevent" defense. The sad thing is, he's going to do just enough to keep his job so he's retained next year. Personally, I don't see Gruden or Barry taking us deep in the playoffs. This isn't me advocating Gruden be fired, but he still hasn't shown me much. One of the reasons why Gruden hasn't shown me much is because players like Matt Jones is still playing. Had this been Bill Belichek, Jones would be inactive the next 2-3 weeks and probably moved to third string. You got to have discipline on this team, but it's high time we bench Jones and make him inactive. He's had his many chances, it's time to move on now.
I completely agree with the first three highlighted items. In this league, it's hard for any team to overcome as many turnovers as we had today. The goal line fumble was, by far, the worst. If we had scored there, we might have run them out of their own stadium. I think Barry has done a decent job with the personnel he has to work with but I also wonder if he's going to be able to get us to a championship level on D once we have the horses. I hate the so called "prevent defense" with a purple passion. As you said, it just prevents a team from winning. I never want to see my team play that or a three man rush, which I also passionately hate. I want an aggressive defense. As for Jones, I think he can be salvaged, although I agree that his fumbling earned him a seat on the bench for at least the rest of the Lions game. Fumbling can't be tolerated. It is a killer. He has to fix it and I think he can. Other players have fixed their fumbling problems. Oh, I almost forgot to say that I think Jay Gruden is doing a good job. The players play hard for him and most of them continue to get better at their jobs. We still need more good players and Barry may or may not be the answer as the DC, but Jay is fine in my book. It was a very tough loss yesterday. It happens. Now, it's time to focus on the next game. Play one game at a time. Prepare well, play hard and smart. If Kirk gets on a roll, I think we can beat most of the teams on the rest of our schedule. |
Classic case of letting a team hang around long enough to bite you in the end.
It happens to everyone. I know this is a good young team and getting better every week. If we didn't have those 2 mistakes in the first half, we win that game easy. We beat ourselves and the team knows it. Bengals better be ready for a mad skins team next Sunday. |
Re: Skins lions post game
Glass half full/empty ...We will win games we should not and lose to teams we should beat..BUT thats the NFL today..there will be a lot of 9-7 and 10-6 teams this year. I will take 4-3 after a 0-2 start..we need the cincy game bad!! If Detroit had really beat us down then i would panic..but guys we gave that game away. and with Norman on the field that last drive by the lions most likely would have failed. The major concern I have now is the injuries to the best players we have. I believe Grant gets waived Gruden was mad as hell at him. Jones needs to ride the bench. Kelly looks better to me.Sorry Evilgrin I was posting this and just saw i said the same thing you did..oh well we think a like..
This may be a dumb question but what did Grant do that made Gruden so mad? I know everyone is pissed at him but I must have missed it. |
Re: Skins lions post game
I really don't get what people wanting Barry out are expecting. IMO we haven't seen our D play so hungry in years, and I mean like at least 6 years. They are tackling better, and already improving through the season, run D has been tremendously better than the first 3 weeks.
OK playcalling on that last drive could have been better, but Barry is doing really good things with this personnel. This may not be SB level yet, but he's a young D coord, and showed he was able to learn from his mistakes. No one on earth is gonna turn this D into last year's Broncos' in a week... Firing him would be a HUGE mistake IMO. This is a team sport, confidence and team spirit matter, firing a coach (especially during the course of the season) is a traumatic event for a team, this is not harmless... cuz this is not Madden... |
Re: Skins lions post game
Right. I was wanting his head a few games in, but I really do see some growth and adjustments. This was one of those games where you just felt like ZERO bounces went our way. It sucks and we have to move on. If Norman and Williams are OK, we should have a good shot at the Bengals. They're not as scary as they were before the season started. The one guy I'm really worried about is Breeland. Dude just looks like he is getting worked.

Re: Skins lions post game
I just heard Theismann making excuses for the last drive. Basically saying that Barry was hiding the youth and inexperience of the secondary. That he was protecting them since Norman was out. WTF is he talking about? These are professional football players, not 6th graders playing a flag game. I love JT but sometimes I want to smack him.
