Doug Fararr wrote that,he's usually half decent. I actually thought he called out some good critiques in the film break down.

Kirk is good, but not perfect. He might be farther away from elite than some of us know. Doesn't mean he can get there, but with all the success he's shown, some of these deficiencies might become bigger without top notch talent around him.

This might be why the 'Skins are reluctant to break the bank, until they see Kirk perform well, without Djax & Garcon round him.
