funny to see you back today...
Let me help you https://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/nwe/2014_injuries.htm 10 IR and only 2 starters = when they won superbowl Not even close to a comparison...BUT I appreciate the comparison to a SB Team. Thanks Bud!
Neither your team nor mine has even sniffed a Conference championship, much less a SB in over 20 years. There is a comparison for you. My point, truly, is ever since this latest CBA was ratified, injuries across the league have increased measurably. Not just Washington. The latest CBA is where they changes the rules of off season work outs and practices. No more pads in practice until after a specified date and only a small number of padded practices allowed. No contact in practice. Less OTAs requirements for strength and fitness. All of these were tools to get players in shape for the season and be prepared for the abuse their bodies were gong through. And they were tools that were, above all, designed to REDUCE the number of in season injuries. I am just not one to blame injuries on the failure of my team personally. However, I will always take measure with a player that is not doing his job. I do not think that #2 or #3 on the depth chart is cut any slack by the coaches, his team mates or in the film room just because his name is not Sean Lee. |
I came to this thread to write this very thing. Trent needs to stop playing. I saw this movie in 2012 and it didn't end well.
You can't say RGIII's injury and Trent's injury are the same. But the idea that his knee could buckle and he could tear up everything is a prospect that scares the pants off me. Fuck it, shut him down and take your shot next season. If he injures himself down the stretch and he's questionable going into next season then somebody needs to be fired immediately. It is entirely possible to see this coming a mile away.
Yeah I'd sit him too, he's too great to be injured for next year too. Have the surgery and let the young guys play. Maybe TY comes back soon Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using Tapatalk |
Re: Post game dallas
I'd go with the best player available in round 1. There isn't a position group that can't use a talent upgrade.
Round 2, I'd take the best RB available. I'm ready for a bellcow myself as well. |

Put him on IR and let him get ready for next year. |
Re: Post game dallas
second consecutive week of not being able to run the ball. We aren't gonna win if we cant run the ball...its as simple as that. Sure the oline issue hurt, but we aren't getting a starters performance from our RBs.
I think not having an O line is pretty instrumental in having no running game. Anyway, that was the situation yesterday. Running game has no chance, the offensive is limited to dink and dunk passes, mainly because there’s not enough time for a route to develop. Just for reference, we ran the ball pretty well when we had people playing in the offensive line whose names we had heard before. That wasn’t the case yesterday... |
Re: Post game dallas
And Trent should sit now, I don't care who plays LT. We need our best player to return next year as our best player.

More importantly we need to do right by the player. Sit him, It's best for him and the team(Long term). Hopefully Nsekhe can come back soon. |
Re: Post game dallas

For those complaining about skins using injury as a excuse:
Injuries mount for Washington Redskins "You really can't make this up," Williams said. "This is something that I've never in my life, playing football -- seen an injury bug bite a team like it's bitten us." |
Re: Post game dallas
Gruden just had his press conference. Matt Ioannidis needs a surgery to repair his hand fracture. Definitely out this week, will possibly cast it up and see if he can play after that.
Gruden also said Reed will definitely miss this week. He went through the injury list, which was exhaustive, and every question from the press was on the subject of injuries. He looked dejected and defeated. I can't blame him. There's no overcoming this. |

Re: Post game dallas
Which is why your team sucks. So, you have to agree that injuries DO affect a team, otherwise, what you just said is a huge contradiction.
The Redskins lead the league with players on IR. That says a lot right there. Simply put, when three of your linemen are out, two of those are pro bowl players by the way, another starter gets hurt, and the other starter playing hurt, then to assume it's business as usual and just plug in other names and keep it going should be expected is a ridiculous notion to assume. It's not an excuse at all. Simply put, when your whole offensive line is hurt and out, your whole offense suffers. I don't care if Tom Brady is your quarterback and you're throwing to Jerry Rice and Lynn Swann, or handing the ball off to Barry Sanders, your offense isn't going to work nearly as well as it does when your starting offensive line is healthy. Not only that, we had guys starting on that offensive line that weren't even on the team last week. So, don't go with the "excuses" mentality, because it isn't an excuse.
Check out KC.......... NFL Injuries | FOX Sports |
Re: Post game dallas
Don't feed the trolls from the other NFC East teams.
We know what we are: a decent team when healthy. We are not the 2016 Patriots or the current version of the Chiefs, we know that. We're not as good and our margin for error is much smaller. Comparisons to those teams are ridiculous. With good fortune on the injury front I'm convinced we could have been 9-7 or 10-6 even. But now? Not going to happen. Sad. But sometimes this happens. Two years ago we had incredible health along our offensive line. It led us to a division title. We've had really good luck at the QB spot the last few years, knock on wood. Most seasons for most teams, you have to sit a QB for injury reasons for at least one week. Our new goal should be as much about keeping Cousins healthy as it should be about trying to make the playoffs. |
Re: Post game dallas
Does make me wonder, how does Kirk feel about signing a one-year deal now? He should seriously rethink his risk profile.
Check out KC..........
NFL Injuries | FOX Sports
What does that prove? I never said other teams don't have injuries. How many of those players on KC's list are starters? Almost all the names on the 'skins list are starters, with the exception of about 3 of them. 4 of those names are our starting offensive line, 4 out 5 guys. And the fifth name that got hurt in the Dallas game isn't on that list. If you doubt that having your entire starting offensive line doesn't affect anything, you're smoking crack. |
