Re: Offence and Alex Smith
Considering the coaching staff's familiarity with Mark Sanchez and given the limited choices out there, I personally don't think that signing him was all that bad a move.
Let's just hope that Colt McCoy stays healthy and productive so we don't have to go to Marc Sanchez. Sent from my SM-N920P using Tapatalk |
Re: Offence and Alex Smith
Per Adam Schefter:
Alex Smith suffered a compound fracture - meaning the bone broke through his skin, per source. Trauma surgeons discovered Smith suffered a spiral fracture in his leg - defined as a long bone broken by a rotational force. Smith, 34, faces a lengthy rehab process to try to return. I don’t know about a 6-8 month recovery period, maybe more like over a year. |
Redskins signed QB Mark Sanchez.
The NFL's "meritocracy" spins on. When last we heard of 32-year-old Sanchez, he was being slapped with a four-game PED ban in April. Now he will serve as Colt McCoy's backup in Washington. Sanchez has attempted just 109 passes since the end of the 2014 seasons. Dan & Bruce again
Awful choice. It is like signing Shawn Lauvao to be our starting guard. Sanchez is terrible. |

As much as I can’t stand him, I would have called Jay Cutler and asked if he was available. |

Therefore typically heal well. Use “open fracture” not “compound fracture”. I’d prefer a simple tibia fx over an ACL any day. |
Re: Offence and Alex Smith
Guy will be 35, looked shaky this year and will be coming off a major leg injury.
Better have a sound plan b going into the offseason and you better execute it. Let’s not treat this like we treated left guard going into this season |
Re: Offence and Alex Smith
Probably more like coaches:
From Keim: "A few ties with Sanchez in NY (there from 2009-13): Redskins OC Matt Cavanaugh was the Jets QB coach from 2009-12; Redskins OL coach Bill Callahan was asst HC and OL coach with Jets 08-11; QB coach Kevin O'Connell a teammate parts of 09-11." Most coaches want to go with guys they know. Sorry but this is not Dan or Bruce making this call.
His name jumped out at me as soon as I saw it. Not a bad move. The familiarity with the staff and the player can be beneficial. |
Re: Offence and Alex Smith
At this point there are no good options.
This is after the trade deadline. They were picking through the best of the worst. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk |

Great. We have to root for buttfumble. Just great.

Re: Offence and Alex Smith
So smith DID have a compound fracture. And a spiral fracture that runs at least part of the length of the bone. Horrific injury.
How is it possible that this happened to two of our QBs, and I don’t recall this happening to any others in the intervening 33 years. Jesus. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Sanchez does have playoff experience. I dont like it but you had to sign someone who could possibly step in if McCoy goes down Thursday.
