Only if you are in the Redwolves camp.
Wright acknowledged a large number of fans were in the Wolves camp. I think it was a clear minority that weren't.
i just don't understand why we can't use redwolves, there is the Arizona cardinals and the st louis cardinals.
timberwolves is different then redwolves.
I hear you, but once again everyone seems to forget the pairing of teams that used to be common. The Arizona Cardinals used to be the St Louis Cardinals and shared the name and stadium with the baseball team of the same name. Just as the NY Giants (nka SF Giants and NY Giants) did. Just as the Boston Braves (nka WFT and Atlanta Braves) did as well. Obviously there was some kind of agreement between the two and that has carried over to Arizona as well as San Francisco. You raise a good point, but the example is not accurate. But since you raised it, I will repeat that a nice move would have been us becoming the Washington Nationals football team and paired with the Nats. Of course, the Lerners would have never taken Danny's call. |
Now that Snyder bought out the minority owners (with a loan from the NFL) .. why cant he just say "screw it, I change my mind .. we're going by 'Skins, suck my little tiny dick."
There are no good names. Ive spent many hours researching and trying to think of a cool name and there is nothing that works for Washington ... except for Warriors. There is no good name. It doesnt exist. The internet is an ingenious place and they have come up with nothing. Commanders .. Defenders .... they all miss the mark.
A better man, a man with more class and respect, might have been able to hold firm. Such a man would have bought out the other guy and then gone before the cameras and soberly stated, "Our team name has absolutely nothing to do with an innocent man being killed by a rogue cop. And shame on anyone who seeks to exploit the murder of an innocent to engage in juvenile political theatrics." But ...Snyder is not that man and never could be. |

I agree. But that would be fucking hilarious. It's like a dog that is so ugly it's cute. That name is so fucking stupid, I love it. A+ for originality. |

timberwolves is different then redwolves.
You can use anything you want as long as you're willing to spend some money. Cleveland Indians/Guardians changed their name to a popular local one overnight. Snyder probably want's to go with the cheapest option there is. |

Re: Name Reveal 2.2.22
Well sure, they could have had a long drawn out process trying to use redwolves or some variation of wolves, but in the end is it really worth an extended legal battle only to probably end up being denied and back to square one? I think some of you are really oversimplifying what this process takes. And imagine the backlash of a legal battle to use a name that another team doesn't want them to take.

If they wanted wolves or redwolves and got the nfl behind the name change I doubt it would have had to be drawn out.
As was pointed out, a minor league soccer team has been using Redwolves for two plus years while the lawyers work out the details. Sent from my SM-G781U using Tapatalk |
