Re: Let's impeach the president.
i don't think that ignore is the right term. more then once, Clinton could have had Bin Laden taken out, but at that time, no one knew( the public) of the threat he possessed. after 9-11, instead of focusing on Iraq, and Hussein, Bush could have made an historical imprint by taking him out, or by demanding Afghanistan hand him over. i don't think he ignored the threat. he just choose something, he thought, would be the easier of the 2. i guess he mis calculated
When Clinton did not take Sudan up on their offer for Bin Laden he had allready declaired a terror war on the US. Latter we had first tower attack, the Cole attack, and two US embassies attacked and nothing was done so yeas that is ignored him. Then 9/11 and we went after Bin Laden and the Taliban for a year prior to the Iraq war. You cannot say that we ignored him as we broke them up and they are no longer freely running around in Afghanisatn. Yes the Iraq war has taken some of the focuse off Afghanistan but our accomplishments there were still big. The one biggest thing is Bin is still alive but I still think that Bush has a hugh desire to get him before leaving office. |

All this being said, Bush is still an idiot. Worst president in American history and that is saying something. 911 happened on HIS watch. Starting a war and lying about the reason. Not having a clear plan and/or exit strategy. Scooter Libby scandal. Campain fixing. Piss poor judgement with government appointees. Katrina disaster. Gross misappropriation of national funds. Complete and utter incompetence with health care reform. Environmentally retarded. Highest gas prices in history and he has stock in.....lemme guess...OIL.
I've only listed 1/3 of his complete bafoonery. If it looks like a DUCK, walks like a DUCK, and quacks like a DUCK...it's a FUCKING DUCK!!! |

Re: Let's impeach the president.
the Bush family has many ties to oil. this is part of the reason the price gouging goes on right now with gas prices, and the white house remains quiet. the Bush family also has many ties to the Saudi royal family, which could do something about oil production. but again, they remain silent

So why doesn't the Dem. controlled congress do something. They didn't have any problems bring the oil CEO's to congress when the Rep. had controll but they seem to be quite now they are in controll. So I guess when or if a Dem is elected to be president prices will drop $1.50 or more. Keep hoping its called supply and demand and othe countries now need oil more than they did and its driving up the price. Believe me if I thought electing one guy over another would make a difference I'd vote for them. |

Why is everything that goes on a damn conspiracy? Who cares about anybody's ties to oil (ther are plenty of Dems with just as many ties by the way). Maybe, just fricking maybe, 99% of the people and media who complain about government inaction in this country don't have a damn clue about how the oil market works. Maybe, just damn maybe, the cost of oil has nothing to do with the Bush administration at all. The ideological idea that everything that goes wrong is the Bush administration's fault is patently ridiculous. Have they done things wrong? For sure. But don't blame everything on them. It is what makes the reasonable arguments sound so dumb. They get lost in the ideological rhetoric. Someone tell me one thing that thye administration was supposed to do? Chirp chirp. By the way the Executive branch isn't repsonsible for regulation and legislation. The Legislative branch is and I don't hear them banging the drum for any type of oil market reform. No they might spout off every now and then but at the end of the day they know that the oil market is the way it is because we have to buy oil from the middle east which is a damn disaster and has been for 3k years. Then all of our refineries happen to be in hurricanes way. I am sure somehow that is Bush's fault too. |
Re: Let's impeach the president.

Re: Let's impeach the president.
thank god I'm talking to someone that understands alot more then me. all i know is the government finds a way to cap milk prices, but yet gas goes unnoticed. it probably has nothing to do with the amount of money the Saudis pump into the U.S. economy. to me, hardly anything is a conspiracy. its just the facts. the pre bush years, everything that happened was all Bill Clinton's fault. its just the way politics roll. you want to be the big chief, you have to bear the responsibility, whether its right or wrong
|
Re: Let's impeach the president.
If you believe anything you read about how "actual" gas prices are set, it has little or nothing to do with any administration.

Ok... Campain fixing: Gore won 2000. Florida was the deciding state and...do I really need to go into it AGAIN? Katrina: Federal response was non exsistent. You can't even begin to argue this one. My argument is that the Bush family has had ties to big oil for decades. It isn't news. Quid pro quo, right? what's this "we"? We are all Americans directly affected by the incompetence of this clown. Again, I could care less about which party you belong to. This guy is a putz. |

Re: Let's impeach the president.
Last I checked Florida is not the only state in the country. How come no one makes a big deal about how Gore distanced himself from Clinton and ended up losing Arkansas? Or how he lost his own home state of Tennessee? If he gets those votes from TN, Florida isn't even an issue.

Gore ran a shitty campain but still won the popular vote. Still doesn't dismiss the fact that Ken Lay and the sleaze machine did all kinds of tampering. I don't think I'm the only one who knows about this. |
Re: Let's impeach the president.
Politics is a dirty game, been that way for decades. Fact remains though that Gore and his supporters rarely, if ever, look in the mirror when it comes to explaining why he lost. It's always someone else's fault.

Do you know how much Federal assitance was given and went on after Katrina. That problem was a state issue and not the federal goverments. Most Americans have health Ins. and it is working fine for them. The 40 mill who do not have it can be broken down into several groups. 1. Young people who feel they do not need health ins. 2. People who choose not to by health ins but instead go out and buy a new car. 3. the people who have health issues or cannot afford the coverage and that the group which is a problem but after taken out the first 2 groups that drops that 40 mill down quite a bit. So fix that and leave the system alone. I'm glade his imigration bill got voted down because I did not like how it worked. |
Re: Let's impeach the president.
The press went to great lengths to try to come up with a re-count scenario that had Gore winning Florida and they weren't able to do it. They spent a lot of resources on it for about six months afterwards and they found sqaudoosh. Micheal Moore even had to put a fake newspaper headline in Fahrenheit to the effect that Gore wins Recount because there wasn't a real one.
And Popular Schmopular, Read the Constitution. Everyone knew the rules going in. |

I don't know about your neck of the woods, but here in the state of Washington there was a big hoopla about election fraud and how the election was stolen from Dino Rossi. Some have suggested U.S. attorney John McKay was fired because he didn't go after anyone. One thing is definitely clear though, he wasn't fired for performance reasons. |

Beemnseven's definition of Neo-co: "Neo" meaning 'new'; con, short for conservative. I believe it represents a recent shift in the philosophy of conservatism, specifically in the area of foreign policy. It used to be that conservatives were against foreign entanglements (Bob Taft was against the formation of NATO), intervening in foreign affairs (it was Wilson and the Democrats who were in favor of getting into WWI). Now, they seem content with interventionism of virtually any kind, and some go so far as to call it American Imperialism. In any case, they have dropped the isolationist banner that used to belong to them. There could be shifts in philosophy in some domestic issues as well, but it's my belief that the Republican Party and the country as a whole is slowly tilting towards Socialism. |

Thats one of the reasons they lost so many seats last election is that the conservative base is ticked and wanted to make a statement. Consevatives feel that the Rep party has moved to far to the left and the party has abanded them. Also people get conservatives and the far right religous people mixed together as they may share some basic ideas main stream conservatives don't go that far to the right. |
