We need to get younger at the line. We can't depend on JUST old guys like Pashos. See people like you piss me off who think we can easily just patch the line and not use our draft resources on offensive lineman.
You guys piss me off with the "we have to solve the whole offensive OL problems in this years draft or were screwed" mentality. News flash.... it won't be solved in one years draft. and...with some fans ideas of getting rid of JC, whome do you expect to be throwing the ball? Colt? Please don't say Pennington. You want to talk about getting rid of old guys and your wanting to bring in old Chad. I'll give you this Pashos is listed as a Guard on NFL.com but for some reason I thought he was a LT with San Fran. Either way your still wrong about his age... he's only played 5 yrs in the league so obviously we can't go out and pick up Peppers, Rolle, or Dansby since their old also. |

The Cleveland trade BS about Anderson/Quinn would be a dwongrade over JC. Pennington also would be in my book.
Why the hell would we take 2 quarterbacks in the first two rounds when we had the worst line in the league?
It is a hypothetical Pocket. I rather would draft two QBs than trade for Anderson or Quinn. THose guys suck. The rationale from that would be similar to why we drafted Frerotte after we got Shuler, that being a young backup, and a possible replacement if the experiment goes awry. IF I was the GM the first two picks are O linemen no matter what. Just saying the choice of a second drafted QB is preferable to Anderson or Quinn in my opinion. Think about it now. Yeah I want Okung and Bruce Campbell if I was the GM, but say Shanny has his eye on Bradford and gets a additional second round pick. He could get a top LT and possibly get Lefevour or Max Hall, etc in the second round. If your stud falters you have another stud that might take over. Not that crazy of a scenario. Not likely to happen, but who knows. |

It only leaves RG up in the air and we've got a couple guys who will compete for it and a few more FAs to look at. |

Our line was HORRIBLE last season, it sucked ass, it was old, it was injured. Even if you bring Bradford, you can't throw him to the fire right away, so what do you do? You need another QB period. And if that's going to happen, I'd rather start rebuilding the line with the draft. And no, Okung won't fix the line, but it's a damn good way to start building it up. |

In my perfect little world I had us taking Bradford 1st and us tendering JC to keep him as our supposed Vet we needed. I think it's funny how some people want to throw away JC for a 1st rounder and hey maybe we can talk some shmuck of a team to take Rogers for a 1st round also and we can pick up 3 OL in the first round and 1 OL in the 2nd round to make up our whole OL. :) with no one to throw the ball. LOL. Some guys kill me. |

No sh!t. He's certainly big enough to anchor LDE in a 3-4...but he's about 10 yrs too old. |
Re: Updated: Redskins Make Major Roster Cuts
We can get some guy out of the UFL to play QB if a good deal comes along for Campbell. It's not like the team has been held back in the past by poor QB play. If THIS team actually gets to the point where we can say we missed the playoffs because of poor play at the QB position, I would consider that a win. I would LOVE to be a fan of the team that can solve all it's problems by adding a franchise QB.

So how 'bout this d-line... Haynesworth RDE, Jamal Williams NT, Daniels LDE That's almost a 1000 lbs of defensive linemen there. LOL. |
I do believe Skins fans are jumping on the Bradford wagon w/o much reason. He's probably going in the top 3 and we're not trading up. He doesn't fit the mold of a Shanny QB...lightning quick release and monster arm. Bradford has a decent release time and a relatively weak arm. I just don't see any reason to believe Shanny has fallen in love w/ the kid the way others have.
The guy is good, but he came from a team with a stacked deck and faced inferior competition most weekends. The guys that make it in the NFL in recent years are the guys that have the tools, but came from second tier football powers that faced decent competition just about every Saturday. |
Re: Updated: Redskins Make Major Roster Cuts
Ok guys I'm tired of argueing the issue and I'm sure so are you. So I'll be the bigger guy, the adult, the responsible one and let you have your all OL draft. Hell pick up 5+ OL if it makes you happy. My only concession is this.... you make me QB. No I'll be honest... I've never played QB before but I have stayed at a Holiday Inn Express for a night so I think I'm qualified. As you guys like to put it with the new upgraded line I should have all day to get rid of the ball even thoug all I can do is dink and dunk like Pennington. I'll also save you a ton of money since I'll settle for Vet min. :) deal?

I personally think it is extremely risky letting JC go. Nobody on that FA list would be an upgrade or even an even steven with regards to our Qb depth. These QB draft sights are saying most of the QBs are going in the 6-7th rounds, so we can wait, unless Shanny wants Bradford or Clausen. |

Your right that list is horid. But why do I get the feeling those aren't the only QB's out there? Tampa had like half a team of QB's a year ago or two so where are all of those? Can we sweet talk the Saints into giving us back Chase Daniels? |

Gotcha. I think the whole trade scenario is unrealistic. But I would not pass on a tackle in the first if we were going to take a QB (or two) in the second. I also don't think Bradford is making it to us. |
Then we should also be able to get guys out of the UFL to play OL? right? Hell lets look at the CFL also. We should be able to find some young talent.
Right but then the OL would continue to suck. Which is the whole point, it needs the be fixed.
The idea with getting just anyone to play quarterback isn't about actually being good at the position. You can play it for all I care. It's to basically ignore a position that needs to take a backseat while we address real issues. I don't really care who lines up under center for us next year. Campbell would be the easiest, and probably best, choice, but I don't really care if it's him, Colt, Bradford, Clausen, McCoy, Pennington, Ramsey, Brooks Bollinger, Jim Sorgi, or Brad Iciek. If we get a good deal for Campbell (second or better) we should make that move, and still draft Okung with the first pick. It's time to not spin the wheels in the mud any longer. |
Re: Updated: Redskins Make Major Roster Cuts
Is Jeff Garcia retired? I'd take him over the other possible QBs listed...

We take Bradford or Clausen in the first then that would be the third first round pick in the last decade that should have been spent on a lineman. |

Re: Updated: Redskins Make Major Roster Cuts
Have we not learned from last year that our OL is the achilles heel of this team? If they can sign Stephen Neal and another FA OL it would be great, but this team needs young OL with future potential to protect the QB. What is a 4-12 record tell you guys about the OL? Blame the QB all you want, but protection starts up front.

Vinny was very anti-offensive lineman in the draft. Maybe he brainwashed these fans that don't want to take a first or second round lineman. Next thing you know they'd want to draft three receivers in the 2nd round. |

Damn straight!!!!!!! People hate on him, but at least he gave it his best while he was here, and we could score more than 20 points too. Bring back Henry Ellard and Leslie Shepard too!! Those guys were head and shoulders better than ARE, Brandon Llyod,Gardner, and Westbrook!!!!! |
