Re: Haynesworth to the Patriots for a 5th rounder.
Let's talk assumptions here. Was it reasonable to assume that AH would continue to be a big ass distraction?
First, AH hated Shanahan - that is well documented and he has not take one inch of it back. He made absolutely nothing in the way of concillatory gestures to the team, coach, fans. If he had (i.e "I was being a little intransigent last year, I may have been wrong in my approach"), we most certainly would have heard about it. Barring a true, come-to-Jesus moment, the AH/MS relationship was far to gone to be fixed given the personalities involved. In light of this damaged relationship, I would suggest that unless AH completely submitted to the Shanny way, he would have been a distraction b/c media, fans, etc. would be looking for friction to blow out of proportion - every play would have been analyzed to determine if AH was truly playing in line. Given how bad things got, it was not going to be a "we kissed, made up and are now bestest pals" turnaround. The circus would have continued even if AH played well ("Now that AH is playing well on 3rd downs, do you see an expanded role for him? Why now? Why not?, etc."). Even if you don't accept that AH playing well was not a necessary cure to the problem, is it reasonable to assume AH had changed the attitudes that contributed to the problem? I suggest no. AH reporting to camp is not a concillatory gesture, it is merely minimal compliance and in keeping with his actions last year. He never - to my knowledge - said "I am not going to do that". He just gave half assed attempts when put in situations he didn't like. Unless there is something to suggest he changed his ways, going to camp is nothing more than a continuation of his passive-aggressive compliance. Last year, AH's attitudes and actions contributed to the circus that was AH. While never refusing a "direct order", Haynesworth made comments, took actions and demonstrated in every possible way that Albert was going to do it Albert's way or no way. To date, AH has done nothing to disavow his behavior from last year. In light of his prior year's affirmative actions and his failure to disclaim those actions and attitudes, the reasonable assumption is not that he had been reached and had a professional epiphany. Rather, the more reasonable assumption is that AH intended to continue being Albert and create the same distractions he did last year. Dear God, did I just write all that on Fatal Bert? Damn you Schneed, you made my ham sandwich taste bad.
|
Re: Haynesworth to the Patriots for a 5th rounder.
Unless I see something interesting on this thread, here are my closing thoughts (a la Springer).
I really don't care what Albert Haynesworth does and personally I don't think any Redskins fan should care. I hope the team has learned its lesson about paying a lot of money to troubled players. And I would like for this team to take a page out of the Patriots and be ready to cut or trade any player that doesn't get with the plan. |

Re: Haynesworth to the Patriots for a 5th rounder.
Albert Haynesworth knows how to talk the talk to the fanbase like a master seducer/seductress. After the successful seduction, he then proceeds to embark on actions not true to his word. As has already pointed out, his initial comment when he signed here should have given off the aura that he was going to be a good character guy. Instead, we get a promise-breaking loser with a criminal record to boot. Albert Haynesworth is the lemon-selling car dealer or the well paid tenant who promises to pay rent but somehow has a shitty credit score.
Sweet words, but sour products. |

Love The Wire reference. Awesome. It's funny about AH's comments. The negative environment was mainly due to his behavior. Take some responsibility. Haynesworth misses two practices, Belichick signed DE Shaun Ellis and Mark Anderson. Interesting.

That means they're definitely running a lot of four line fronts this year with the signing of Carter.

Like the Patriots i would also focus on adjusting your schemes to fit player talent, something that Belichick is great at. If you have more 4-3 guys then run more 4-3 plays. |

Re: Haynesworth to the Patriots for a 5th rounder.
Belichick is surprising me...AH and AC equals half our old d-line. Could it be there was big time potential in the group we had lol? I will say if the Pats defense is better than ours fans should have some strong words for our coaches/front office.
...as others have intimated the truly great coaches build a scheme around the talent on the roster. Last season we tried to fit a square peg into a round hole. Hopefully Haslett has a roster that better fits his scheme (whatever that is). |

Re: Haynesworth to the Patriots for a 5th rounder.
The only time we should care about anything Haynesworth does is on December 11th, 2011 from 1PM to around 4 PM. Actually we should also care about what he does on 10/16 (Cowboys), 11/06 (Giants), and 11/27 (Eagles). But other then that...wait hold on I got to make sure I cover all my bases. Okay so if there's a tiebreaker with strength of schedule.........

Re: Haynesworth to the Patriots for a 5th rounder.
If he does get cut I can see him going to Philly right away. I am not sure I care or not....is it possible this guy is done as a player? Hes just a few years removed from being dominant but he clearly has some issues and he has basically been out of football for two years now.

Honestly I hope he does end up in Phillip so we can expose his weakness and really make him look bad. |
Re: Haynesworth to the Patriots for a 5th rounder.
It's just a rumor and even if it isn't Haynesworth just hasn't been practicing much since he landed in NE. If he can't make it there, I think he's well on his way to becoming a journeyman in the NFL.

Re: Haynesworth to the Patriots for a 5th rounder.
I think its safe to say that no matter where he ends up, he will never be worth $100 million

If he were to go there, then he would still have to work for a living and cooperate in some fashion with authority figures. I think what he really wants is to be retired and living in luxury on Dan Snyder's money. |

Albert's revenge? We'll see According to Jason LaCanfora of NFL Network, the top player revenge game this season will come in Week 14, when the Patriots visit FedEx Field, bringing along Albert Haynesworth to take on the Redskins. LaCanfora writes: "It's been quite some time since we've seen a motivated and determined Albert Haynesworth on the loose. But ... we know he'll be looking to bring that full fury when he faces the Redskins in Week 14. ... "The chance to go against Washington's weak offensive line and send a message to [Mike] Shanahan will be all the fire he needs. Trust me, for that Sunday, if nothing else, Haynesworth will come alive." You think so? Or maybe, by Week 14, the Redskins version of Haynesworth will have surfaced in New England and made Coach Hoodie wonder why he even bothered to put him on the roster. Albert may find the Redskins offensive line not to be as weak as one might think......and that revenge can be a double edge sword. He may find the Redskins willing and ready to exact their own form of revenge against the one player who disrupted much of their 2010 season. |
