Why do we have to only draft Olinemen...im bout spending some ducks at this point. Drafting olineman, not really ballin in that catagory. We got Long, leribus and Moses, bring in legitimates vets on short deals and let these guys fight it out.
I think we go RB in 2nd round this year in draft. Linebacker is another spot we could be looking to draft high as well.
I agree that FA has to factor into the equation. I disagree about drafting a rb in the 2nd round. Between FA and the draft we go real heavy on oline, and safety/cb. I like Breeland and Amerson alot but we need depth. We also need Some good passrushers in the front 7. |
Re: Redskins Cowboys post game
Oh and I will just say I hope QB is not an area of need come January, but who knows.
If it were me, I would start Griffin as soon as possible. The only way to know if he's a "bust" really, is to put him out there
From what I'd heard it's not that he doesn't grasp the offense. It's that he's slow-odd to say when applying to RG3-but his timing is just off with the rest of the offense. He's just not in sync. Mentioned this over the summer, but my feeling is he's a sensitive kid who's ego and feelings got badly bruised when he felt mistreated by his favorite coach growing up. He needs a confidence boosting game, and I think he'll get his groove back. What better slump buster game than Tampa after the bye week?
Brilliant stuff, someone forward onto Gruden! I like how Gruden keeps the Vikings guessing about who'll start at QB, but they probably expect Colt. Also be interesting to see how Zimmer and Gruden face off. My opinion Zimmer was a far better coordinator than Gruden but that doesn't necessarily mean he'll be the better head coach |
Re: Redskins Cowboys post game
You say Step One is to build an O-Line and then you say draft a safety in round 1? Mr. Spock and I think that's illogical. If OL is your top priority, then you draft OL in Round 1 unless there is a very special player on the board when you draft who you just can't pass up (like Sean Taylor).
Nevertheless, I do agree with you that a top-notch OL is the foundation for a good football team. Dynasties are created by having Franchise QB's playing behind great OL's.
A first tier safety will be gone by the 2nd round. A first tier RT is much more likely to be available. Especially if we are picking around 12-16. Just because you focus on an area doesn't mean that you completely ignore reality of picks. Of course this early and far away from the draft, and not knowing our final draft position, you also have to realize draft statements now are more guideline thoughts then specific must do's. |
Re: Redskins Cowboys post game
If Moses develops, we don't need to be drafting a RT high.
I say spend high picks on a guard or center and otherwise feed the defense. How 'bout using a high pick on a badass nose tackle, since Cofield is getting older? Or use a high pick on a corner and move Hall to FS? Or use a high pick on a safety? |

If we decide to trade down or get a mid/low first round pick (drinking the Kool Aid a bit here), we can try to get a good guard. I'd also like for us to get a solid veteran in the o-line. |
Re: Redskins Cowboys post game
You spend the high picks on the best player there. No way is this team good enough to be drafting for need. If that player is a RT then so be it. That gives us depth at that position.

Re: Redskins Cowboys post game
I think we need to play the lineman we drafted. Let them get better through game experience. Spencer Long need to be eased in. Chester out!
|
Re: Redskins Cowboys post game
i like much of what we are doing, just need to establish the run earlier and stronger.
in the offseason, get a good safety, please! |

My preference would be McRib at Chester spot |

Either one in my opinion... Just not Chester anymore. |
Re: Redskins Cowboys post game
Yeah I am tired of watching Chester. Honestly thought he was worse than Polumbus. Difference is a mistake at RT is a lot more obvious than at RG. CC gets beats constantly. He's plain terrible.

I get all that. I just found it ironic that he said OL was top priority followed by saying draft a safety in Round 1. |

Watching Chester makes me wonder how close Spencer Long is to getting some playing time at RG. I'm more eager to see Long play now that it is evident (to me, at least) that putting in Tom Compton has had a positive effect at RT. |
Re: Redskins Cowboys post game
I thought Compton was just ok, he got pushed around pretty good. But I hope they continue to get him experience there

No way. At one point the best player available becomes the one you need the most and we need S and RT/RG bad. Ofcourse Moses and Long might pan out but the FO and Staff should know that by the draft. Imo we draft for need. Unless some unbelievable talent is on the board. I mean unbelievable. |
Re: Redskins Cowboys post game
Teams that draft on need rarely succeed.

Re: Redskins Cowboys post game
Teams that draft on need rarely succeed.
Teams that ignore needs rarely succeed either. We need to address oline/s early for once. There is ofcourse no black and white here. I mean its always going to be a mesh of both. If a wr is bpa at our spot we arent taking him. Im not saying we reach, but if there is lets say a LT/WR/RB/Dend that is graded higher than a S or RT RG at our spot, however the RT or S isnt a reach than imo we draft for need. |
Re: Redskins Cowboys post game
Well yeah, it's always BPA with your needs taken into consideration as well.

needs: o-line and secondary
plenty of wants but only 2 needs |

So word on the street is RG3 on Sunday. Considering Gruden thinks he isn't ready mentally, do you think Snyder put the coals to Gruden to force RG3 to start? |
Re: Redskins Cowboys post game
^ I hope that Snyder isn't pushing Gruden on this (and somewhat doubt it). I think he realizes the cost he has paid for appearing to meddle in the past. He seems to be more comfortable taking a back seat now. (In contrast to his counterpart in Dallas -- GM or no, I half expect him to run on the field and start instructing).

Yeah - sort of a long winded obvious statement I made. All I am saying is we have, imo, two glaring needs and I hope the "needs" hold alittle more weight than bpa this year. |

Re: Redskins Cowboys post game
Awesome win.
I love our two young corners. They are both aggressive and good tacklers. Breeland and Amerson could be a great tandem in the league. I can take the lumps of this year and the next as they take their games to the next level but two good ones. Jordan Reed is a baller, plain and simple. Tremendous pass catcher. If he can stay on the field he has the skills to be an elite player at the TE/joker position. DeSean Jackson worth every penny. Gimme him and Gracon for the next couple of years. 8th in the league in yards. The heart of the whole team was on display in the second half and Ot. Great team win. If we play like that more often we can be contenders for the East.. Pay Ryan Kerrigan and Trent W. Let Rak go.. |

Can you imagine if Griff returns to form and we add a few free agent upgrades and 7 draftpicks to the mix? So much of my enthusiasm about this team rite now is based on those two young cb's. Its an area that just a couple weeks ago I thought may need help. Still might be, but Ill be damned if they arent one of the more promising young tandems in the league rite about now. As a Skins fan though I must accept the fact that on Sunday I might be .... Not so excited anymore. Its ingrained in me to be waiting for the axe to fall. 23 years of pain will do that to a man. |

It wouldn't surprise me if someone above Gruden (could be Allen) is pushing for an earlier return based on all I'd heard. |

Just OK is an improvement. There were no free runs at our QB by Compton's man, as far as I could tell. I also saw him make a nice block to seal off the pursuit on Alfred's longest run of the game. The primary concept here, for me, is that poor play must not be tolerated. If a starter is not getting the job done, give the next man a chance. The backup might surprise by doing a better job. In this case, Polumbus didn't perform well, Gruden replaced him, and things got a little better at RT. Compton may not be "the answer" but he looks to be better option than Polumbus or Moses at this time. I'm very pleased that Gruden made this change. |

Re: Redskins Cowboys post game
It doesnt take a genuis to figure out the guy who would be pushing for RG3 to return to early. I'd seriously doubt it would be Allen.
Folks, like I said, RG3 needs to be 100% healthy. We've seen this movie before |

Who's to say it's too early though?
