The RG3 trade has everything to do with where we are, we had to stink so bad until Snyder put football guys in charge. Come on Bro!
Who was the one who pushed the most for the RG3 trade? Shanahan? Snyder? Allen (lol)? Who?

Smoot was dead on the money in his AMA six months ago.

I'd call it a wash, clearly neither team gained any sort of advantage in the long run.
Agree on the talking about it portion. I will disagree about about us winning/losing/wash on the trade. The moment the trade is made is when the teams win/lose. If both teams get equal value, it's a wash. If one gets the best value, it's a win for them. Who the players pan out to be is irrelevant really. Personally, I just think Jeff Fisher is a shitty coach and has loads of talent on that team. (from that trade) |

If you can believe what Mike Shanahan had to say regarding the trade, and not write him off as a bitter ex-employee, then it seems that Snyder wanted to make the trade, wanted Bruce Allen to figure it out logistically, and then entrusted Mike Shanahan to make it all work. It cannot be over-looked that Shanahan also drafted Cousins, perhaps even back then as a contingency plan. Rumor mills say that as early as 2014, Shanahan saw that RG3 was physically a shell of his former self, and internally pushed for Kirk Cousins to be the starter, but he was rebuffed and it took a legit injury to RG3 for Shanahan to attempt to make his move. Unfortunately the team was in disarray and Cousins could not make the most of the opportunity. I am told that it is true indeed that Shanahan considered resigning at the end of the season due in part to the treatment of RG3 by ownership and what MS perceived as "coddling" towards RG3. Its obvious that Shanahan was right in hindsight, which is partially why there is now interest in him once again as an NFL Head Coach. The biggest question on my mind is how Dan Snyder feels about Kirk Cousins. We know Scott Mc is a big cousins fan, as is the coaches and the players. If Cousins can truly get embraced by Snyder, then i think Cousins fans have nothing to worry about. |
Re: First place Redskins
Shanny wasn't here in 2014.

I'd say if Kirk had broke all the team records this year it wouldn't even be a question but the fact that he only broke some of the team records this year indicates Dan Snyder might not like him enough just yet. |
Re: First place Redskins
I think the Dan is gonna'......hug the neck of the man that put his Skins back in a positive....Playoff light.

Re: First place Redskins
I think it was Smootsmack who said Snyder pretty much couldn't stand cousins and wanted him gone. I gotta believe that cousins was a little bit of scapegoat because rg3 couldn't take that next step. I'm sure things change, but once again Snyder was wrong.

Re: First place Redskins
the farther away snyder is from football decisions, the better. but i think we've all known that.

He should just sign checks and ask questions. He has already proven that he is not capable of putting a consistent winning product on the field. I honestly believe he has done that since the RG3 trade. I think that was his last major decision which obviously was an epic fail. |

I think you've got more mixed up than that. Gruden didn't want to start RG3 in 2014. He finally got his wish this year with the help of McCloughan on his side. I don't think there's anything to be concerned about now with Cousins. He's going to be here a while. RG3 will be gone soon enough. |
Re: First place Redskins
Did he say Gruden wanted to start Griff in 14?

Re: First place Redskins
So my whole point of bringing up the RG3 trade was more to show how terrible of a coach is Jeff Fisher, that even with that boatload of picks, he hasn't been able to right the ship in four seasons.
And in regards to our team, you could say that the division title in 2012 resulted from the trade. However, to me it seems that now in 2015 we've won a division title despite losing all of those picks with that trade. In the end, just two teams going in different directions IMO. Still surprised that Jeff Fisher still has a job after four losing seasons. |
