Well right now according to Spotrac our OLine is 25th in cap hit at 26million. Dallas is #1 at 59million. So we have a ways to go to be the most expensive line.
30th for 2019.
https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/positional/2019/offensive-line/
That included not paying Trent the 10Million. Paying Scherff, TW, Flowers and a starting LT won't be cheap, BUT our DLine right now is super cheap (26th) so if we go higher on OL and have both trenches firmly established, that seems like a good thing. Re: Trent Williams ends season-long holdout, rejoins Redskins
One thing I would do is bring Moses/Christian in a RT for an open competition. Moses doesn't deserve to be handed a job after his performance last year. But I would not cut and sign someone with TW coming back.

How do you consider him winning? Last I checked he took an unpaid year off and didn't get a new deal. It wasn't like BA got canned because of TW. |

I am pretty sure all the injuries the Redskins have had recently compared to league average have nothing to do with the head trainer getting canned. Go ahead post a link that you are basing Hess's demise on TW.

Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk
You know I don’t think we need to splurge outside of keeping known assets like TW, Schreff and possibly Flowers and/or Roullier. It will be interesting to see what the new coaching staff thinks about the Oline and how they will fit into scheme especially in the run game. TW is a no brainer of course...top 5 tackle who is an athletic freak fits in every scheme. |
Re: Trent Williams ends season-long holdout, rejoins Redskins
We will not fill the LT position with anyone better. He solves a problem. Based on that alone I'll take him back. On top of that he is an all time Skins legend. Do I agree with how he handled things? Nope. Were Bruce and the training staff clearly issues with more than Trent? Yep. Bring back Trent and draft Chase. Those 2 moves alone and the team is drastically improved. C'mon home Silverback.
Exactly, a lot of the stuff he did cannot be undone. The best indicator of future behavior is past behavior. What guarantee is there he doesn't have another meltdown if he is brought back?
So you take one portion of past behavior that occurred during a period of extreme circumstance and ignore the past behavior of being a team leader and good soldier for the Skins FO.
How do you pick which past behavior you want to keep, because I believe with a new front office and coach he is more likely to behave with respect to Dan Snyder who flew him in his private jet and to his new HC who is giving him a chance to get back in the game he loves then the circumstance driven event of a life threatening camcer scare. But we of course can not know until one side makes a gesture of goodwill. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk |

Bring back TW, resign Flowers, Penn for depth, resign Scherff and draft an OT to replace Moses. We also need a better C. Martin is coming up well but Christian has not.

Anybody suggesting paying Conklin RT is off their rocker. The guy is gonna receive a 70-90 million contract.
We can’t afford it and wouldn’t pay it for him. |
Re: Trent Williams ends season-long holdout, rejoins Redskins
I think the changes Dan Snyder has initiated have cleared major roadblocks and made it possible for Trent Williams to return. Now, it's up to Ron Rivera to make it happen. If I had to bet the mortgage money on it, I'd bet that he'll be back.

Yeah...I like Eric Ebron too. Also watch Camron Brate in Tampa being released. They have OJ Howard behind him...Arians historically doesn’t feature the TE in the passing offense and they have 3 major Free agents to pay. I believe Brate is due 3/4 of salary to be guaranteed after March 3rd (approx)...he may be released. That guy would be awesome in a Skins uniform. If you look around the league, there is a need for TE...the free agency market has never been better but teams like Dallas and New England will be thirsty. If Scott Turner does bring his dad system into play...pass catching TE will be a must. It should be our focus in free agency |
Re: Trent Williams ends season-long holdout, rejoins Redskins
I think the FIRST FA the Redskins will target is TE. That means HOOPER. Then they’ll be looking for CB, a veteran WR to balance McLaurin and DB

So does anyone want to ventire a guess on WHEN we hear a resolution to the TW situation? My thought is if he is coming back to the team happy and onboard with the changes they would want to announce that before the start of FA, so I will say no later than the 2nd week of February

Re: Trent Williams ends season-long holdout, rejoins Redskins
I'd be surprised if RR hasn't at least tried to make contact with him. If he has and TW is talking, then I'd say there's a good chance the regime change entices him back. If RR hasn't called/visited him or if TW spurned such advances, I'd say it's unlikely. In the latter instance I'd say we're more likely to learn before the draft because they will be looking for picks in a trade. If we hear nothing, then I agree he'll probably turn up for the first team activities after the draft.

Re: Trent Williams ends season-long holdout, rejoins Redskins
Doubt anything will happen until the draft is over, and I think he stays
Well, the TW situation seems like the last big shadow of the former front office. Not only that but how it is resolved, trade -extension-plays final year only, all have a direct bearing on how the team will approach free agency and the draft. I would really be shocked if nothing is announced pre-draft, and from the way Rivera has moved I think the TW situation will be a high priority resolution.

Re: Trent Williams ends season-long holdout, rejoins Redskins
I agree. I see this as one of RR biggest challenges and priorities. This must be handled delicately and with RR showing that he wants Trent back in the fold. Bruce Allen created a lot of bad blood with TW, but it’s all in the past.
If for some reason RR can’t bring TW back, then anticipate he will be traded before the draft. We need a second round pick and that’s about what we’ll get for him now. However, I’m pretty optimistic that they will bring TW back, and his teammates will be happy to see him back. He was well regarded by his teammates and that may color Trent’s decision to come back. We need him and he’s worth far more than a second round pick! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Only one other season over 700 yards receiving. Every other season was 300-500 yards receiving. Not impressive as far as I’m concerned to only have one good season as long as he’s been playing with a top tier QB like Stafford. |

Re: Trent Williams ends season-long holdout, rejoins Redskins
Ebron is the type of guy that will get overpaid in free agency. Him and Hooper. I would prefer to let Kyle Smith do his thing and come up with a TE in the mid rounds.
Look at Kittle? Complete TE that can do it all and is durable, 5th rounder. Kelce? 3rd rounder. Two of the best TE's are not 1st or 2nd rounders.. Kittle is going to reset the TE market and raise the salaries. Hooper, Ebron and others will no doubt get overpaid. I'd rather take the free agency money and get another corner or o-linemen. |
Re: Trent Williams ends season-long holdout, rejoins Redskins
I think we’ll go into FA for TE with some money AND draft for the position this year. Right now we have NOTHING in the TE spot and we can’t just HOPE a draft pick will fill that gapping chasm.
I like Hooper over Ebron but Kyle will know the best player! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Turner offense will require performance at TE and you can’t afford to swing and miss in the draft with an mid round selection. We absolutely should draft and sign a free agent TE. My best case scenario right now is Cameron Brate cut and we sign to a more reasonable deal than an Ebron/henry/hooper will fetch. Then draft the guy we want in the mid round...let him come in pressure free and learning in a new system. But ebron, Henry and hooper will pay dividends immediately in our system. We have the cap room and paid 15 million for nothing last year. Why not get a baller? Also look at receiver in free agency...that’s exactly where you would be stupid to spend money there with less proven or older guys coming off injuries...I’m gonna be fuckin livid If we hand out a Paul Richardson contract to WR in this free agency class. But you point about not spending a 1st round on TE...I agree. TE and RB should rarely be taken in the first. |

But the positions that I feel you do not overpay for in FA are RB, WR, safety and TE. TE's are one of the more easier positions to get w/out paying a lot for. There are so many of them in the league right now and a lot are drafted in the 3rd round on. It's a position I feel you go get in the 3rd to 5th rounds. That is why I feel there is no need to overpay for players like Hopoer or Ebron. You can probably get their production in the draft and have them for 4 years paying cheap costs. I would most certainly overpay for a RT cause I can't take another year of Moses shitting all over himself. I would overpay to resign Scherff. If RR chooses to keep Trent for a couple more years then overpay him. |
