Re: Let's talk good beer
Oooof. I had a head-spinning Saturday at Berlin's Oktoberfest. $5 Burley Oak 16oz stein and $5 pours. Had 3 creamsicles (Secret Sauce DIPA with orange sherbert and vanilla), a Rude Boy (strong red), and 2 oktoberfests. And then I threw in some other beers and some shots and it was all down hill from there. I rallied and went out later, but it was a rough several hours. Spent yesterday drinking Miller Lite so I didn't have a repeat of Saturday
Managed to bring home a 6er of Homegrown (Burley Oak's new Session IPA) and a crowler of Rar's 10 Layers (Dessert Stout). |

Re: Let's talk good beer
Lately, I've been tasting more porter and stout beers. Sam Smith's Organic Chocolate Stout is pretty, darn smooth.

Re: Let's talk good beer
Sammy Smiths taddy porter .. been 20 years since I used to drink that. One of the original craft beers for me. Gesus, a lot of things nowadays makes me feel old. Never had the Choc stout, will keep an eye out.

Re: Let's talk good beer
Very very fond memories of buying the big bottles of Oatmeal Stout in the parking lots at dead shows back in the day. Nothing like one of those to warm the cockles of your heart in the cold winter air. Yeah 25 years ago it was Sam Smiths or Sierra Nevada for the most part.

Rodmans comes through again. Wasnt even trying to spend big money but spent just under $100. Got allagash farm to face, wicked weed pernicious and napolean complex, fresh sculpin, fresh dc brau wings of armagedeon and another bottle of the hill farmstead saison collab. Was hoping for WW freak of nature but they ran out.

[emoji106][/quote] LOL, sorry. I honestly didn't realize.Hell I'm not even safe in a thread about beer!:food-smil I was referring to this . Lion's Ale - "We brew this smooth English-style amber ale with our good friends at The Red Lion Inn in Stockbridge, MA. This beer has been crafted to pair greatly with most every meal and works well during any season, it is most often enjoyed at the historic inn with food and friends. " 5.3% ABV |

Re: Let's talk good beer
Had my first bottle of allagash's farm to face this weekend. Good but for $15 for a 12.6 oz bottle is way too much. Surprised it is classified as a "pale ale". Tasted like a sour/saison. Wish this beer was cheaper bc I would like to drink more of it but there are comparables for less money sitting on the shelves.
Manor Hill - finally found a fresh six pack of their standard IPA. This beer used to always be on the shelf and always fresh but now I just dont see it around anymore. Bummed bc this last 6 pack I got had a huge trub problem. I poured my first can and it came out real cloudy so I poured it out and grabbed another can. This time I poured to see what was going on and the first 90% of the beer looks normal but the last 10% is thick cloudy gray trub. I poured the trub into another pint glass and it was easily more than 2 fingers tall. (I didnt know what "trub" was until I googled why my beer came out cloudy) |
