If SS is right about our OLine FA prospects the I wouldn't mind drafting Mallett at all in this draft.. He's shown when he has time how good of a QB he can be

Well I mean we're definitely targeting Joseph and Harris and I wouldn't be surprised to see them both on the roster once FA gets resolved, but I don't think even those additions make us the type of OL that merits bringing in someone like Mallet.

Really if not Locker or Ponder, I'd rather just wait until the middle to late rounds and maybe get someone like Stanzi or McElroy (neither of which are franchise guys in my opinion)

He's got a quicker release than people think, I'd take a chance on him
Quinn and Dalton? Locker and Paea? Ponder and Houston?

All possibilities, which combo would you prefer?
This one by a landslide!!! Locker, I would bet my career on. Paea seems like a Ratliff-type NT or Ngata-type RE (only smaller). Love this...fingers crossed!

Mallet?! You've been living in the Southwest too long. Mallet will be squatting in an abandoned building within three years. Ryan Leaf will be his roommate.

From my understanding, I think the main reason we ended up with Brown (instead of Harris) is because we didn't have a pick that Denver wanted. Now that Denver has made it clear that Harris isn't in their future plans, he's most likely going to end here.

If it does end up that way, it means we spent a 2nd, 3rd, and 4th round picks on 2 one year rentals. /facepalm

Well technically I'm in the Southeast lol , I just think with a solid line he'd be a really good qb

Ryan Mallett is an extremely talented qb. I would love for us to draft him.

People I see making those type of boneheaded statements are usually the ones who didn't watch college football. Ryan Mallett huge arm and extremely accurate with the football. If we put a decent offensive line around him I think he can and will be really good.

The story of all the QBs we've had in the past couple of year.

I was just pulling OK's chain a little, for fun. Mallett is pretty good. I said something nice about him in this thread.

I don't really think that Mallett will be homeless within three years. I think he'll be sitting in his rec room with JaMarcus Russell watching the NFL on television.

Lol, Mallet needs the following line to protect him.

LT - Ryan Clady
LG - Jhari Evans
C - Nick Mangold
RG - Logan Mankins
RT - Jake Long
TE - Anthony Becht
RB - Clinton Portis

Maybe then he'll have time to throw.

But dude seriously that O-Line woud be BOSS!

The consensus this pre-draft season is that the Washington Redskins are going to try and land a quarterback at some point during the draft next weekend. Whether that's at their current draft position (No. 10), higher or lower remains to be seen. The 'Skins have been rumored to be trying to move both directions in the first round, and a logical case can be made for either side of that debate. In the minds of many, athletic QBs like Jake Locker, Christian Ponder and Colin Kaepernick appear to make the most sense as the apple of Mike Shanahan's eye.

But during Monday night's edition of "Path to the Draft" on the NFL Network, analyst Michael Lombardi reported that the Redskins have serious interest in drafting Ryan Mallett (a decidedly non-fleet-footed QB), and would do so even with the No. 10 pick, according to a source. (H/T to Evan Silva of Pro Football Talk for the grab).

For his part, Lombardi foresees Mallett going somewhere in the Top 20, though Doug Farrar of Football Outsiders brings up a salient point in the wake of the report. "Re: Lombardi's take on Mallett -- he loves big-armed QBs and wanted to hire [Arkansas coach Bobby] Petrino for Raiders. Not saying to discount, but watch for bias."

Lombardi isn't the only person talking up Mallett as a first-rounder, though. ESPN.com's Elizabeth Merrill had a tough time finding anyone to say a bad thing about the QB in Arkansas -- meaning that the off-field character concerns might be a shade overblown. ESPN SEC blogger Chris Low thinks that eventually, Mallett will quell the doubters:

- Tim Kavanagh

Chris Low
Mallett's skills are top notch
"Ultimately, it's all going to play out on the field, and on the field, Mallett has showed that he's a first-round talent. Now we'll see if somebody in the NFL thinks so."

Contrary to popular belief, Matty and I are not the same person
