Re: Simeon Rice released by Bucs
Honestly I would rather have Garcia. This is a "What have you done for me lately?" league. And all stats aside Simms was getting it done the year before last. and Gradkowski was only a rookie last year. I say that they have a great bench in terms of experience down the depth chart. Let Garcia run the offense for a couple more years, then lets Simms have it back for 2 or 3 seasons and by then Gradkowski should be ready.
Honestly I do not care other wise, but adding Culpepper just seems silly.
So let me get this straight, by your standards, this is how the it will go down: Garcia 07, & 08. Simms 09, 10, 11. (benched at the age of 31) Gradkowski takes over in 2012? Do you really think that could even remotely pan out? Even worse, I don't think any of those players can win it. Garcia has proven that he needs to have a fantastic team to win, he doesn't have that in Tampa. I'd take Culpepper in a heart beat over those bums. |

All they need is to manage the game and not lose it with a solid running game and a defense. Look at Trent Dilfer and Ben Rothlisburger. I am not saying that Ben is a bad QB, but he didn't have to win games with his arm. |

Well, Trent had one of the best defenses of all time. Ben had a good year in 05, 62.7% comp, 17tds and only 9 ints in 13 games. While he didn't "win it with his arm", he did a good job. Also, while his SB performance sucked, he threw for 6 tds and only 1 int in the 3 postseason games. Tampa doesn't have those types of teams, and Roethlisberger is better than all of those guys (and I correctly labelled Ben as overrated before he faltered) |

Even in their last SB appearance it was the strength of their Defense and running game that got them there. They just need to reload the Defense a little. They already have a solid running game. |
Re: Simeon Rice released by Bucs
Yeah, but cutting Rice is a good football move for them if he truly is injured...and it will likely make space for signing someone like Culpepper.
Get one injured player for another? How many QB's does that team need anyway? SR will not become a REDSKIN. |
Re: Simeon Rice released by Bucs
Rice is old, came from a better defense, and didn't produce last year. Let's not go near him. I'd rather save up for future years, three year contract would be a stupid decision, he has one year left at best

Re: Simeon Rice released by Bucs
If we can get him cheap, then let him try to make the team. He is a gamer.

Re: Simeon Rice released by Bucs
The release of Rice was not a cap saving move. If it were, he would have been cut on June 1st.
He was cut because he could not pass a physical and his shoulder is still not healed yet. The guy is rode hard, put up wet and injured. Why sign a guy to a contract if he is not going to be able to contribute? The only team that needs to sign a guy like Rice is one which needs depth at the position. the 'Skins need someone who can come in and contribute from the start. Pass of Rice, watch the waiver wire during camp and you could find someone with more miles on him.
Ok, I'm agreeing with a Dallas fan. We did scouting reports on rice and they came back poor so the Skins did not persue him and have no intentions of bringing him to Redskins park. So this is a non issue. |

Well, the Redskins could be more interested than we thought. |

Re: Simeon Rice released by Bucs
Just read he was released. I didn't want to start a new thread dedicated to him so I dug this up. Aren't we glad we didn't sign that bum?

Re: Simeon Rice released by Bucs then Broncos. Now a Colt
Colts have apparently claimed him

Interesting to see how this plays out.
