Ziggy Hood is playing in the Alamo Bowl tonight on ESPN.
After doing some research on him I can see why you like him. I'm not sure he'll last long in the draft. Looks like an excellent prospect.
You'd give him a C- for 2008? Out of the entire draft, we have 1 player that starts...3 second round picks that don't play- (let alone crack a talentless- besides moss- WR corps) not acceptable at all.
That 1 player happened to be drafted at the tail end of the draft and is talked about as a defensive player of the year candidate. That's hitting the jackpot.

As for the 3 2nd rounders, we all knew Malcolm Kelly was recovering from knee problems when we drafted him. We all knew Devin Thomas was a "project" who would take a year or two to get himself ready for action. Fred Davis is playing behind Chris Cooley but, admittedly, took longer than anticipated to get onto the field. We didn't draft those guys to produce lots of yardage in 2008. We drafted them to produce in the coming years.

Finally, the draft isn't a quick fix and you can't really judge it for several seasons. So, I would be reluctant to say that any draft class is "unacceptable" less than a year from the day on which they were drafted.

A number of draft sites have him projected as a 3rd round pick, with the possibility of moving up into the 2nd. Who knows?

I'm always amused looking at these draft sites that have 40-50 players with first rounds grades, and 40-50 graded out in each of the 2nd & 3rd rounds as well. Keeping this in mind, it also is amusing to hear surprise when players start to "fall."

I think the way to draft is have a number of players projected for spots on the board and contingencies to trade down if things don't fall your way. Even if you trade down and pick up picks for next year, you're building for the future. Get to know what the teams in those spots want, and what their tendencies are on draft day, and you stand a better chance of predicting how far you can move to pick up your player. Even with all of that, you're still hiring people and that's always a crapshoot.
