Re: 2011 NFL Draft
I think it'd be interesting if the team drafts another Auburn QB.
Please no. No more Auburn players period. They always have some sort of huge defect (stone hands:Reading defenses). Bama on the other hand we've had success with. Oklahoma....mixed results so far. |
Re: 2011 NFL Draft
The need for a DE who plays in the scheme, but is also a functional pass rusher is paramount in this defense. Love Adam Carriker, but he's pretty useless going one on one against the other team's RT.
I figured that Haynesworth would be the best RDE on the roster, but he's never lined up there in a game and we continue to play Golston who simply can't execute the position. Ma'ake Kemoeatu isn't an ideal nose tackle, but hes under contract for next year, and he plays well -- in spurts. We should look at some nose tackles in the draft, but depth can be had in free agency easily. We just have a gaping hole in the defense at RDE that must be fixed if the right player is available. Maybe Jarmon can take that role in the defense when he's healthy. He's certainly has the functional pass rushing skills we need, but we need him to be at least a two down 5-technique DE...or draft someone who can be. |

There wouldn't be mixed results if we could have drafted Sam Bradford |
Re: 2011 NFL Draft
Cam Newton will not be a Starting qb in the nfl. He's another Tebow IMO.. I'd take Luck, Mallett and even Foles over Newton
|
Re: 2011 NFL Draft
I'm eager/curious to know what the plans for Jarmon are. I can see us taking a DE high in the draft. Maake's contract is heavy on incentives, won't be hard to let him go

Yeah, but Jammal Brown will probably right the curve next year. Texas is always good for us at some point. |
Re: 2011 NFL Draft
Heck we just need draft picks at this point.. I don't care where their from

Re: 2011 NFL Draft
What do you all think of Kellen Moore? Yeah I know he is a junior this year and most likely won't declare for the draft, but I think he's very capable of playing in the NFL, hes tough, accurate, actually very accurate, he makes good decisions, and has an underrated arm. I think he could be good for our offense. Some say he's a system college QB only and is nothing more than that, I disagree. Your thoughts?

Re: 2011 NFL Draft
First and foremost this team needs talent. We can not afford to draft need. Best player available with the first two picks. It would be nice to move some of the players on this team that still have value and re coup picks.

He'll probably end being a 5th or 6th round pick when he does declare. Slow, undersized, nice arm and experience in a west coast system but theres a lot of prospects like that every year. NFL Draft Scout has him ranked as the 13th best QB prospect in the 2012 draft and ESPN doesn't even have a grade for him, which is telling because they've graded other junior prospects that may or may not declare. Personally he might end up being the next Colt Brennan. Shanahan is more likely to take a run at Mallet or Locker next year should they fall to us. Troy Smith, Chris Weinke, Ken Dorsey, Colt Brenan, and Jason White all have been through similar situations as Moore. Tebow is probably the only great college QB in recent memory to break away from his late round grade and crack the first round. Moore won't be as lucky. |
Re: 2011 NFL Draft
Locker is a good fit for our system.. Good arm, can throw pretty good on the run and makes plays with his feet.. Honestly kind of reminds me of a Jake Plummer type QB when he was ASU, except Locker is a little bigger.

^ yea I'm not saying locker is all that good but if he's there around 18 I'd take him

That's costly in itself, even if you only pay a guy a couple million to sign.

Re: 2011 NFL Draft
I'd like to see us going after a WR in this draft, maybe jones falls in the teens? It could happen
