Ok, I read he was near career high in yardage and thought maybe there was some sort of escalation based on that. Thanks

On another note, Chris Cooley is frustrated, but it's hard to tell who it's with:

Sounds like he's just fed up with everything... losing, having balls skipped to him or tossed over his head, and the fact that another coaching change has resulted in the same sad results on the field.

Re: Report: Grossman Starting on Sunday

I remember back to asking the question,"Why trade for McNabb if you know you are rebuilding?" And I guess this answers the question in the sense that Shanny agrees with me in that it was the wrong move if we are truly "rebuilding." I will agree that this is probably just the Shannies admitting it was a mistake and moving on. I doubt McNabb plays another down for the Redskins, but it is better to admit it was a mistake and move on rather than the alternative.

Good luck to McNabb and I do hope wherever he goes that he finds success as long as it isn't against the Redskins. I do feel he deserved to be treated better than this but this is just part of the business that is the NFL.

Plus, he's been an NFC East guy his whole career. Nobody would have wanted to beat the Cowboys in Dallas more than McNabb.

...
To be fair, McNabb has gotten lit up by the Cowboys many more times than he has lit them up, especially last year. I don't think that desire alone would have carried the day. (No I am not saying Grossman would either)
There have been many times where he's had good protection and he's throwing late or into the ground. I haven't see DM throw anyone open this year. The wr's are always reaching back or jumping up high to catch balls. Don't have a problem with them benching him, it's how they handle it that pisses me off.
Oh yeah, McNabb has definitely not played well and hell, in the Tennessee game he had LOADS of time to throw and the O line looked pretty good and he was all over the place. But on the whole it's not a good O line. Especially in the depth department. My problem is the same as yours, I'm baffled at the whole process, from the original trade, to the benching, to the extension, now to the basic firing. It's not the benching of a poor player that erks me, it's the benching of a player we gave up 2 draft picks for and just re signed. Doesn't seem like the habits of a 2 time super bowl winning coach.

Basically this year we payed Albert about 24 mil for 8 games playing about 15 plays per game and a 3.4 mil bonus for Donovan to play 3 or 4 poor games. That's got to be some of the easiest money ever made in the history of man.
I have one question -

If McNabb "played himself out of a position" then how the [BLEEP] is Casey Rabach still starting?
The only answer I can think of is that they don't like their options behind Rabach? I think we're stuck with him until the end of the season. The bigger question will be whether they do anything with him in the offseason. If they don't deem replacing him a high enough priority we might see a revolt against the Skins before next season lol.

Who would have thought the Haynesworth story would not have been the biggest story coming out of Redskins park at season's end.

This team needs to be blowed up (thanks Emmit). At this point hanging on to McNabb for any reason presents too much of a temptation to think we can just tweak the team into being good. It can't be done. Overhaul is in order and I don't care if he has lost the locker room because most of the locker room is going to be shown the door in the next two seasons if Shanny actually tries to rebuild this thing from the bottom up.

Per NFL Network, Shanny stating that he would evaluate drafting a QB in the draft nxt. year. But, he's also not ruling out keeping DMac nxt. season even though he is now slotted as the 3RD string QB...ouch!

Kyle Orton anyone?

Re: Report: Grossman Starting on Sunday

Draft a QB or not we still need a starter next year. I'm halfway tempted to say let Rex get banged around back there next year while (hopefully) a rookie holds a clipboard. At this point I really think we need to come out of the draft with a future QB and 2 OLinemen (one of which has to start next year). That's a tall order. No more trading draft picks...in fact it is time to consider trading our good players to accumulate picks.

So an earlier report says McNabb and Grossman were told at the beginning of the week. But now I guess Shanahan is saying he let them all know yesterday for the rest of the year Rex is #1, and Beck is #2

One of my favorite scenes ever from The Cosby Show perfectly captures my feelings toward this. It's not so much the news, it's how the news was delivered (you can skip to the 2:17 mark)

Re: Report: Grossman Starting on Sunday

When Shanahan says that he was going to bench McNabb after we were "mathmatically" removed from playoff contention, it leads me to believe that he indeed felt DMac gave the team the best shot at winning (at least up to that point) and now wants to put him on ice in terms of possibly protecting him in hope of trading him later when the season is over. I dunno, just guessing at this point.

Since when does benching someone do any good for their trade value? It's not like players are 20 year old bottles of scotch. Which reminds me, I'll need to be looking into that this offseason.

I wouldn't be shocked if Mcnabb ended up as vicks backup next season in Philly, seriously who gives him a chance as the starter? Maybe AZ or Min but I doubt the market will be that great for him

Re: Report: Grossman Starting on Sunday

Stop wasting draft picks on bad deals; start drafting better and start over...AGAIN!!! And why is Shanny calling ALL the shots? Why did they hire Bruce Allen if it seems he doesn't do anything here? We continue to see this same movie each season...and the ending stinks!
