Re: Redskins sign QB Kellen Clemens
It's not that Denver is looking for too much, it's Orton that wants a lot of guaranteed money from Miami, and the Dolphins don't seem quite ready to guarantee he will be QB1.
Why haven't we resigned him yet? I'm kind of surprised.
Don't worry: With McNabb gone, Kyle Shanahan eager for QB competition - Washington Times
Kyle Shanahan versus Donovan McNabb is sooooo 2010. Shanahan's smile said it all Friday morning at the Redskins' first full training camp practice. With McNabb on his way to Minnesota in a trade, Shanahan was eager to begin the quarterback competition between John Beck and Rex Grossman. "I think it will be a great battle," Shanahan, the Redskins' offensive coordinator, said after practice. "I think that they’re both capable of it. Rex showed that he’s capable last year. John has shown that he’s capable in practice and what he’s done in his college tape and the few opportunities he has had in the NFL. I’m excited for them to finally get a shot together." Beck begins with a major advantage because, well, he's actually at Redskins Park practicing with the team. Grossman, meanwhile, is still a free agent. And even if Grossman re-signs--which Shanahan said he expects--new league rules prohibit him from practicing with the team on the field until Thursday, Aug. 4. For now, Shanahan will focus on evaluating Beck. The Redskins traded for him last August, leaving him little time to learn the playbook. He then spent the season as the No. 3 quarterback and exclusively ran scout team plays in practice in all but the final two weeks of the regular season. <snip>
|

^^Thanks for that link!

Re: Redskins sign QB Kellen Clemens
Should be interesting to see how it plays out. I don't understand the rule that prohibits Grossman from practicing until 4 August. Especially with this shortened offseason - doesn't seem to make much sense.

Re: Redskins sign QB Kellen Clemens
The Aug. 4th date is based on the union reforming and the new CBA being complete and approved by the players. It is a protection of sorts for the owners that makes sure that the union keeps it part of the bargain and gets all the players on board so that nothing goes haywire
I've never seen an average player get so much run. A guy from 10+ years ago too no less. The Gus references are beyond stale at this point.
Average maybe, but he did make the pro Bowl Matty. He is better than Kellen Clemens for sure. Besides, the whole Gus Frerotte thing is all a joke. The problem is that he is far from the worst Qb we have had start for us since his stint here. I mean he was our starter for most of 4 seasons. Beck was shipped around to 3 teams in almost that same time span if I am not mistaken. You better hope that Rexy doesn't take a nasty hit or spill, or this season is a wash. |
Re: Redskins sign QB Kellen Clemens
One reason I'm giving up on this season is Kyle Shanahan. They plan on signing Rex...seriously?
