Re: Eight QBs and Where The Latest Rumors Have Them Going
I just wanted to drop this in here for all the folks so excited about Luck and/or RGIII. Oden was the biggest thing since sliced bread when he was coming out.
Look at his career: Trail Blazers' Greg Oden undergoes fifth knee surgery - NBA - SI.com |

Tannehill in play for Miami?
2:43 PM ET Miami Dolphins TopEmailComments 3 UPDATE: Gary Horton of Scouts, Inc. checked in on the Dolphins' offseason QB situation in a column Monday (find his thoughts at the bottom of the post). --- Having hired Ryan Tannehill's former head coach as its new offensive coordinator, the Miami Dolphins stand uniquely positioned to make a decision on whether or not he's the right choice to lead them into the future at QB, as Omar Kelly of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel explored in a post this weekend. Ultimately, Kelly concludes that it's too early in the process to say whether the Dolphins would consider him with their first-rounder -- either No. 8 or No. 9, depending on a coin flip with the Carolina Panthers -- but that Tannehill can't be ruled out as an option. A lot can change between now and the draft, given that teams will be signing veteran free agents in the interim. For the Dolphins, the potential addition of such a player -- be it Peyton Manning or Matt Flynn -- would likely mean that they would not target a QB with their first-rounder. It's using that as a hypothetical possibility that Mel Kiper, Jr. sent a player at another position to Miami at No. 9 in his most recent mock draft: |

However what would we really giving up? We have two playoff appearences and one playoff victory in the last decade and have picked in the top 15 more times then I care to count. Look at all the teams picking in the bottom of the first round. Almost all of those teams have QB's that they can rely on to win games. I'll give up 3 potential starters for a game changing QB any day of the week. Especially one with off the chart intangibles and physical ability. And keep in mind another top 10 draft pick type year means that theres a good chance Shanahan could be fired which means a ton of roster turnover (think of the Broncos roster after Shanahan left). So in the end a lot of this building through the draft would end up being an exercise in futility. We keep ordering new parts for the same broken down car. It's time to get a new car. |

Brandon Weeden, Rex Grossman, John Beck, Nate Davis, G.J. Kinne
Got to hell with that prediction!! Haha. Kill me if that is the case. Kill me dead. |

WEEEEEEDEN! OKUNGGGGGGGGGGGGG!
Because of his age, the best situation for Weeden is with the Skins. If he was as talented as Luck, he would be considered a late first or second rounder. But, he isn't so I imagine the Skins will have a chance to nab him in the third, possibly later. That's value. |
Re: Eight QBs and Where The Latest Rumors Have Them Going
Id get Matt Flynn or PM over weeded, age is a huge factor, I want a long term solution, injuries rack up as you get higher in age

Thanks. I personally love the idea of this franchise being held back if they miss after trading up for RGIII. Like we were going anywhere to begin with. Besides unless RGIII gets hurt again he won't bust. In the words of one Omar Little "even if I miss I can't miss." I want to point this out again. When Vick was playing in Atlanta under Mora Jr their offense was designed around zone stretch plays that featured Vick rolling out off the handoff. The fear Vick created by rolling out opened running lanes wide open for the likes of Warrick Dunn, TJ Duckett, and Jarius Norwood. The Falcons finished first in rushing 3 years in a row from 2004 to 2007 and averaged no less then 4.8 ypc in those three years (5.1, 4.8, 5.5 respectively). Now imagine that same type of threat in RGIII running Shanahan's offense off the bootleg, and unlike a young Michael Vick he's an accurate passer. So teams not only have to respect his legs but his arm as well. My point is, worst case scenario, if RGIII fails as a passer we will still have an explosive offense. And even though the worst case scenario likely means we would probably never win a Super Bowl we would at least be winning games again. One more thing to keep in mind. The top QB's in this league have an uncanny ability to improvise on the fly, weather it's in the middle of a play or before the snap (Rodgers, Brady, Manning, Brees, Vick). This is something that RGIII possess in spades. |

Wheeden?, weeded? Come on people if you really want him at least spell his name right. |
Re: Eight QBs and Where The Latest Rumors Have Them Going
Wait Dirtbag, so we shouldn't draft 5 all-pro offensive lineman, 2 1,000 yard receivers, a 1,000 yard rusher, and a 1,000 yard tight end before drafting a qb in the ALWAYS better class of next year?

Wait, I'm sorry I don't know what I was thinking. The nerve to believe that a QB with game breaking ability would help this team win games. |
