Did you watch the Cowboys play under Wade Phillips last few games..... they should forever be hyperlinked to the phrases "tanking it" or "mailing it in".
Not buying. Phillips lost control of the team, true. But they did not quit on effort.
"Mailing it in" is bunk. I don't think that any player in the NFL quits or "Mails it in". The reason is simple.......contracts. There are no guaranteed contracts in the NFL. Every player knows that they have to play to get paid. They know that if they are not playing for their current team this season, what they do on the field is assessed not only by their current team, but, but 31 other teams in the league during the off season.

This is NOT the NBA or MLB where player contracts are guaranteed. Where "tanking it" or "mailing it in" for better draft position are common. And that slogan from last year attached to the Colts (Suck for Luck) is a load of crap. Each players future for the next season is linked directly to their effort and output on the field.

Say or think what you want. But mailing it in during the season is a bunch of crap.
Albert Haynseworth laughs at you......

If you want to say a team mails it in yes - bunk. Always going to be ones that give it their all. Alvin Walton nailed it with Haynesworth - if he didnt mail it in i dont post alot. Unfortunately if a couple guys mail it in than it might as well be the whole team. Whats that they say about a team is only as strong as its collective pieces - or a whole is only - whatever - u get my point.

Only as strong as it's weakest link punch.
Teams lose - fans bitch. Teams win - fans stop bitching. Were no different than anyother fanbase.
If Shanny wins a superbowl we will all eat crow ok. I wouldnt hold my breath though.
Lol. All true.
No we dont. We dont look stupid at all. To compare them to us is wAy off base. Those fans were booing a team that had recently won a superbowl and was in a heated battle to win the division and go back to the playoffs. Were booing a team that has been (for the most part) atrocious for 20 years.
It's the same knee jerk reaction on this fanbase's part. What happened to all our talk of "patience" and that Shanny would get his 5 years? Are fans thinking we just say those things and still get instant gratification in two and a half seasons?
You're joking right? at the midway point in 2007, the Giants had gone 25-23 in Coughlin's first three seasons and had made the playoffs two years in a row. Comparing the point the Redskins are at now with them is imbecilic. Oh and the giants went on to win the Superbowl that year -- does it seem like we are just getting ready for a Superbowl run?
Jee, I was comparing the fanbases. Not the teams. The same idiotic knee jerk reaction by both fanbases.

Even though circumstances do prove the Giants fans are stupider. (big surprise there, lol). What's imbecilic is under an ownership constantly turning over our coaching staff (except one occasion when a legend came back), fans here want to start up the coaching carousel again.

If the Giants owner had listened to the same screaming from NJ fans in '07 and '11, they wouldn't have won those superbowls. That's all I'm saying.

Two and a half seasons is hardly instant, its 30 months.

(OMG I feel like an Obama supporter saying this. Curse you. lol) There was too much of a mess for anybody to clean up that quick, give Shanny at least his original deal.

(Hell, we gave Obama a pass for the past 4 years and relected him for another 4, let's give Shanny his original 5. :) )

Shanahan set himself back two years with really bad decisions to go with Grossman/Beck and then McNabb. Thats a mess he created himself.
I dont want a mess maker for a head coach. I want a win maker.

McNabb I can understand. I don't see how he set himself back with Grossman/Beck. What would have the better choice been? Draft Gabbert or Ponder and not get guys like Kerrigan? Sign Hasselbeck and still have to get a QB this year?
