The bombs are dropping now that the dust has cleared. Seems the Ravens aren't all that "classy" after all. I give Harbaugh credit for wanting to cut Rice immediately after seeing the video, but overuled by Biscotti and Newsome.
So this is basically what I've been saying all along. Goodell has taken all the heat, whereas it seems that this was all the doing of the Ravens leadership. |

That was awful. The beginning of the presser Godell read his prepared speech and it was fine. But once the Q&A started Goodell lost it. Goodell's smirk and cocky response to TMZ reporter was bad. Does Godell not get it? What an arrogant response. Then once Goddell was challenged more on why the NFL did not get the elevator film, he started again with the ridiculous excuses and lies. The crap about how the NFL only gets its investigation information from law enforcement. BULLSHIT! The NFL office participated in the cover up. When I say cover up I am not talking about denying or covering up the crime, I am talking about trying to minimizing the crime, minimize the punishment and protect the brand. That is what they did wrong and refuse to admit it. |
Re: Around the NFL: Week 3
Fuck the Baltimore organization, especially that piece of shit owner

Though I haven't seen the presser yet pretty much everyone has cited it as being painful to watch at best. Personally I'm not one to root for people to loose there jobs but given his salary was something like $40 million I have a feeling he'll manage. Then again this was his dream job so for Goodell its probably about more than the money.
Fuck the Baltimore organization, especially that piece of shit owner
Ummm...Steiner [YT]5m9lnNHHoRM[/YT] I agree with you but as Redskin fans I'm not sure if we have much room to talk trash about other teams owners :*( Though at this point I'm just happy the team decided to draft Landry instead of AP. Can you imagine the s* storm of having the Redskin name controversy and the issues surrounding "Redskin Running Back Adrian Peterson" in an alternate universe. Speaking of bad owners, some of you might get a kick out of this: August 28, 2014: Report: Adrian Peterson told Jerry Jones he wants to play for Cowboys | For The Win September 12, 2014: Adrian Peterson Indicted For Child Abuse, Turns Himself In « CBS Minnesota September 18, 2014: Dallas Columnist Clamors for the Cowboys to Get Adrian Peterson | The Big Lead September 19, 2014: Shan: A Few Thoughts After The Reaction To My Adrian Peterson-Cowboys Blog « CBS Dallas / Fort Worth Personally at this point I'm terrified waking up one day to see a front page story saying something like: Redskin [Position] [Name] Arrested for Domestic Violence |

Baltimore ravens should be held responsible for assisting in a cover up, and they seemed to mislead goodell

No doubt about that. In regards to Goodell, the guy was already leaning towards making a bad decision. The Ravens brass banging the table in favor of Rice was the ever so slight push needed to seal the horrid initial 2 game suspension. Still you can't have it both ways. You can't talk about during the pre-draft process how teams have these super elite private detectives that know everything about players and at the same time claim you never saw the tape, or at least didn't hear about it. Especially since the recent tape was referred to in the news well before it was leaked. February 21, 2014 (Assault occurred on 2/15/14 lol one day after Valentines): Report: Police Have Video Of Ray Rice Knocking Fiance Unconscious
According to Sports Illustrated's Robert Klemko, police have surveillance video of Ravens running back Ray Rice allegedly striking fiancée Janay Palmer at Revel Casino in Atlantic City on Saturday.
Also in case anyone had any doubts that lawyers are full of it [no offense to our resident lawyer]:
Rice's lawyer said this video only shows part of the incident: "The video that has been put up by TMZ shows the very end of what transpired between Ray and his fiancee. We are confident that by the time all of the facts are in the open, the public will have a complete and true picture of what actually transpired, and we just ask that the public remember what a high-character, good person Ray is, and that they reserve judgment until all the facts are out." Do think Goodell and the NFL office should just take the word of the accused and the team that benefits from not suspending the accused? Even if they misled Goodell and NFL, it is the job and responsibility of the Goodell/NFL to perform a thorough investigation and not rely on the WORD of others. Of course RIce and Ravens are going to try and protect their own. I almost expect that. But for the League office to do the same is a crime. Goodell screwed the pooch. As more sponsors drop out, the NFL will realize it. |
Re: Around the NFL: Week 3
First that press conference was just so so so painful to watch. I shut it off after 5 minutes. Goodell needed to come out with at least one definitive action. This is why I think he should have held a press conference to announce that Rice was being banned indefinitely. He would have gotten some Silver-like respect if he stood in front of a podium and said "Ray Rice is done"
Second, because of my career I've always been more aware I suppose than most of what happens behind closed doors and have heard many stories that would make people cringe (no fixing of games for those of you who want to start threads about that). It's all part of running a multi-billion operation I tell myself. You want the steak, might as well see how they kill the cow. But I've never seen anything like this. Ever. If Harbaugh actually pushed for them to release Rice and company, good for him and he should be allowed to move on from that toxic situation somewhere else. Cass, who's been a major player in NFL circles for years should be immediately relieved of his duties and "forced" back to his 8 figure partner salary at his old law firm. The Ravens should be docked money and draft picks. Newsome should be suspended for I don't know, 1 year. And Bisciotti the same. That's 1 year minimum. |

Brandon Marshall "A Football Life" on right now. Good stuff. Interesting inside peek at Jay Cutler too.

Assisting? What are you talking about? The Ravens orchestrated the whole f*cking cover up. If anyone assisted, was Goodell. |

Crest cancelled an upcoming joint campaign. Radisson locally in Minnesota. Amazed nothing around here in Baltimore that I have heard. |
