Re: The after London semi-meltdown thread.
He turned it around last year late, hoping after the bye he starts playing better.
Also, gotta remember, its only his 2nd season.
Oh of course he is very early on in his career. Nothing to say he will not ever be good. Likewise nothing to say he will ever be good or above average though. On another note (directed at the board- not you SD ) of course people want Hopkins gone. It was a huge miss. Huge. I don't think anybody, including myself, who has shouted "fire him" since the miss really believes it would happen. Also don't think anybody really cares that much. He is a kicker. Same position you do not draft high in the NFL or on your fantasy team. No need to keep saying it is crazy to cut him. Everyone realizes it is not a make or break reality for this team. I will say that a "pressure" miss after being pretty consistent from that range doesn't exactly scream "he has ice water in his veins". Next time he is kicking for the win I will be staring at the inside of my eyelids. Lol. |
Perspective
Wild Card Standings: 1) Green Bay Packers 4-3 2) New York Giants 4-3 Philadelphia Eagles 4-3 Washington Redskins 4-3-1 WE STILL PLAY ALL OF THOSE TEAMS in the second half. We still control our own destiny so simmer down.
Right. Said it twice. We are in the playoff conversation in a big way at the halfway point with more than one way in. Division or wildcard. We are 2-1 in the East and play the Boys again. When we were 0-2 all that you heard from the squirmy fair-weather fans was "we will be lucky to win three games", and "lets talk about the draft". Since than we are 4-1-1 and the wheels are apparently already off. Im stoked for this team to have two weeks of rest and study and than go finish this in a big way. |

Note the relative terrific health of the roster. Very little in the way of injury. It bodes well for our 2nd half. |
Re: The after London semi-meltdown thread.
I'm so confident we make the playoffs I'd be willing to bet on it. Numbers don't lie and we are owning our opponents weekly. Eventually the ball goes our way and it will later on.

Re: The after London semi-meltdown thread.
The offense has some kinks to work out, but, I think, it seems to be improving in fits and starts.
The D still has some run stopping issues, but, at the same time, and on occasion, it does seem capable of making a big stop when needed. As someone said, we just don't seem capable of putting a complete game together. Hopefully, after the bye, they come back strong. BTW ... it seems to me KC is getting better each week (sometimes its a "two steps forward, one step back" kind of improvement). Yesterday, I thought he did a good job of recognizing when nothing was there and chucking it away to avoid the sack - much better than he has done so in the past. |
Re: The after London semi-meltdown thread.
I think we need to pump the brakes on Smith a bit. He was a project coming in and definitely outperformed expectations last year. He's been close on a bunch of plays, he needs to learn to finish.

Re: The after London semi-meltdown thread.
Preston needs to contribute somehow though...If he cant get to the passer, then he has to set the edge against the run. He's really not doing either. Breeland too, if he cant make the play, then don't turn around and make a dumb penalty or miss a tackle. The expectation is production...do your job.
One thing mentioned by someone...Anthony Lanier on the D-Line. Man, I saw #72 collapsing the pocket a couple times and I couldn't figure out who it was...I thought, is this a flashback? Im I on LSD? Is that Dexter Manley? Seriously...Lanier needs to see the field more. |
Re: The after London semi-meltdown thread.
Negatives:
-Again a non-victory because of a bullet in our foot. So frustrating. -My voice is broken because redskins fans in London were lazy as f*ck, had to call them out every 3rd down, guys with redskins gear all over their bodies quietly sitting on critical 3rd downs... drove me crazy. I'm starving to attend a game in DC now... -With the only other "active" redskins fan in my block, we didn't hear the timeout called, we were making fools of ourselves taking a victory selfie singing HTTR... Positives: -Now that I witnessed, live, a non-win by this team in the most redskinish way possible, I guess I'm a true fan? Anyway, that was awesome. -This team is looking great. We have the weapons to win this division, we still may. 546 total yards is really good, on the road, against a not so bad D, hats off. -IMO Josh Norman actually had a good game. He made an incredible play on AJ Green on a long ball (the one where he seemed to have reinjuried his wrist), he should have had a pick, he often was right in AJ's face on some catches... If you consider he was concussed LAST WEEK, his wrist is weakened, and refs were after him I'd say he had the best game he could have. -Defense did a really good job, first half was outstanding, held their offense well under 100yards. 2nd half was more difficult, cincy obviously made some efficient adjustments, but our D delivered on crucial moments. |

Man that was great, took some time to come back down to earth, that game was hard on the nerve. Even my fiancee was entertained and stressed during 4 hours. Late in the 3rd quarter she turned to me, happy and proud "I saw the ball during the whole play for the first time today!", but she loved it, even with these lazy so called redskins fans the atmosphere was awesome! |
Re: The after London semi-meltdown thread.
We can still win 12 games. 12-3-1 should get us in to the playoffs.

My wife and I were wondering: were they giving out Bengals gear? It seemed like a TON of Bengals fans weirdly enough. |

It was really funny scanning the crowd for different jerseys. Alot of people wearing different teams apparel. Did anybody see the guy with the Skins scarf and hat in the bengal costume? Wtf? It seemed more like an American Football Parade than a game. Lol
Edit : though it was actually a really great game. |
