Antonio Gibson and Najee Harris would be a fun duo, and cheap for a few years.

Harris would likely be an upgrade in the Barber role.

If you want to go with Best Player Available...at 19 who is that?

I think taking the best Free Safety, RB or Guard in the draft is ok at 19. What about the best the slot receiver in the draft like K Toney?

My general feeling of what position the Skins will target at 19:

LB: 40%
Tackle:40%
CB: 10%
WR: 10%

I’d give a slight edge to LB right now

I like it. Here's mine:

Trade back: 40% - Of course you need a willing trade partner, but given the depth in this draft at the positions of need, I think trading back could be a great option. However, if Surtain, Farley, Darrisaw, Slater, or Parsons are there at 19, I think you have to select one of them.

LB: 25%

OT: 25%

CB: 5%

S: 5%

Surtain and Parsons for sure

I started to read up about prospects this past weekend...I have less of a clue than ever cause I didn’t watch or keep up with college ball this year. Darrisaw, the linebacker from ND and trying to name top pass rusher in draft seemed to be widest, varying opinions going into the draft.

One thing i kept reading about Darrisaw...lazy, doesn’t finish blocks,’lacks dog. That’s a big concern. Also heard he is maybe the most athletic of the olineman and can make any block.

With teams locked into the first three overall picks, the Atlanta Falcons now have received trade calls from multiple teams and “are open to moving” out of the No. 4 spot, per source.
Interesting question, do you make a move to trade up for Kyle Pitts? Dude is a game changer, I'd consider it.

Yeah, I have mixed feelings about the kid from ND, but he is probably exactly what RR would be looking for with his uber versatility.

Interesting look at the last decade and whether the first QB chosen was best in class: https://www.hogshaven.com/2021/4/5/22365407/how-often-is-the-first-qb-selected-the-best-in-his-draft-class

Summary:
33% of time first QB chosen is best in class
On a year to year basis The top QB in the class was found in the top 10 draft picks 56% of time
18 QBs were identified as long term starters. 11 of 18 (61%) top 10 picks, 2 of 18 (11%) picks 11-32, 5 of 18 (28%) rounds 2-4.

Good data here!

I think Scheme fit is overlooked with QB but other positions it’s more scrutinized. There a more QB friendly places: Andy Reid...rarely do you see a QB “not work”. Alex Smith had his best year of a long career with him. McNabb would have been a bust half the other places he would have landed. Mike Vick got rich again under Andy.

Good stuff and that's why you will see 3 of these 5 QB's turn out to be backups or bust.

Re: Pre Draft Thread 2.0

I don't see a reason to trade back, as we really need a difference maker on the OL or LB crew. Unless they are all gone by then (unlikely), I'd be targeting an LT or LB hard with #19. And yes, if Surtain fell to us I'd give him strong consideration, but I'm not taking him over the likes of Parsons or Darrisaw. We already have a good secondary, so I'm not sure adding a #1 CB adds as much overall as a #1 LT or LB.

Re: Pre Draft Thread 2.0

Well, you only trade back if there is a willing partner, the guy you really want isn't there at 19, and you are confident you can get what you want where you are trading back to. There is very good depth at OT in this draft. Well into the second round you are likely to find a starting LT. Well into the third there are opportunities to significantly upgrade LB group too.

Re: Pre Draft Thread 2.0

Not disagreeing per se, but you want a stud in a draft like this, not just a starter. I've said it before, ideally we find a Ray Lewis type and an Ed Reed type to give us a solid core to and already great D. For me that starts with a guy like Parsons. If he's not there another Trent like LT could anchor the OL for 10+ years (assuming we don't screw it up!). For me either scenario is way better than trading back for good but not great talent and depth.
