I think his dreads are a saving grace for him. :FIREdevil |
Re: The Pro Days Thread
he just needs to get them a little thicker they are too thin and look fake or something
|
Re: The Pro Days Thread
Since Chris Horton left (and maybe Hightower), we are running at a deficit of dreadlocks. This situation needs to be rectified immediately.
I'd rather have RG3 over Luck, because I feel like RG3 has the Vick running demention that will help him out when he is a rookie and a play just isn't there. Luck can run too, but he has straight-line speed, so he isn't as quick and shifty as RG3 is. Also I feel like RG3's ceiling is higher than Lucks, because we know what Luck looks like in a Pro offense, we can only imagine how great RG3 could be in one. Like people say its a win-win situation. But rookie year-wise, RG3 will be a better player than Luck.
Nice way to put it. |

RG3's hair isn't dreaded. It's braided, also known as individuals or plaits.

Re: The Pro Days Thread
For those that have seen both, what is your sense? Is there a clear and immediate winner? Given yesterdays performance, do you think the colts will select RG3 over Luck?
Personally I like Griffin better but to me these guys are 1a and 1b.
I'm guessing that most people that rate Luck ahead of Griffin value his 'pro-readiness' i.e. pre-snap reads, rhythm drop back passing proficiency, pro-style progression reads etc. Luck's pro-readiness is attractive because it means there is less of a burden on the coaching staff to teach. But those traits are learned or coachable traits they aren't a physical part of Luck's skillset that cannot be gained by other prospects. I guess it depends on your view point; for me coached skills are less valueable then innate skills for a prospect. Most of the prospects will have the best coaching of their lives ahead of them and will have the chance to learn the same things Luck was taught by Jim Harbaugh. I have Luck and Griffin about equal in most tangible aspects. Watching the pro-days actually helped me close the gap between Luck and Griffin's armstrength. Before I though Griffin had a clear edge in being able to throw the ball with velocity and drive the ball on intermediate throws. But,its really splitting hairs both are more then capable of making all the throws. To my eye they're arm strength is about equal with Griffin having the edge on deep ball accuracy. Luck has the family pedigree and a proto-typical physique. Instead of listing the little areas where 1 has the edge over the other I'll skip to the main area that separates Griffin for Luck to me: playmaking. Or as Bill Walsh liked to call spontaneous genius. But anyway here's the word from the godfather of the draft/scouting:
The workout that Robert Griffin III had Wednesday at Baylor was outstanding. I’m not sure whether he or Andrew Luck should be the No. 1 overall draft pick.
NFL.com Blogs » Blog Archive RG3 wows in workout, deserves first-pick consideration « If you're really interested in a statistical comparison that goes beyond the normal measures check out: "Why RG3 could go ahead of Luck" by KC Joyner (i can't link it but if the mods don't mind I could post the whole article) I think the Colts will select Andrew Luck, he's the safer, more conventional pick. |
Did anyone watch Luck's pro-day given that he will be our new starting QB according to every pundit?
I saw highlights of Luck's pro day. I doubt if Luck falls to #2. Although I want the Redskins to draft RG3, I'd be equally as glad if Luck were drafted by Washington. But according to Mayock, who knows more than anyone, Luck will go to Indianapolis and Griffin III will go to the Redskins. |
Re: The Pro Days Thread
The only difference between Luck and RGIII is as Charley Casserly said: Luck is like the Senior with more experience and RGIII is like the junior who is just as good but needs some final touches or polishing before he graduates. In other words, you can't go wrong with either one whether one is more athletic, smarter, etc. than the other. Joe Montana nor Tom Brady were the type of athletes this 2 are, so the bottom line is you never know who is going to be better than the other until they play and their careers are over.

Griff fits us better imo |
Re: The Pro Days Thread
The Colts new front office are being very quiet. They may pull a fast one on draft day and select Griffin. Many people doubt if this happens, but RG3 is an very appealing prospect. Either RG3 or Luck can go #1 overall.

Luck can do the same as RGIII, trust me I've seen it over the years. If Elway could do it, Luck can do it better. |

Well it's a lengthy article for one...but mainly because it's a subscription based article. And while the likelihood is small, I don't want Matty getting in trouble for it being reposted here |

Kinda what I thought. Just making sure. I could post the link but you would need a subscriptionn to read it.

Guarantee we get Griffin. Indy released Peyton because they want the younger version of him. If they were drafting Griffin, they keep Manning another year.

As NFL Network pointed out, Andrew Luck has been doing the audible routine for a couple years now (I think they said 80% of the time he was going to the line with three plays and that dates back to 2009). The mental part of his game is being constantly overlooked by fans but for a rookie, the level he's operating at is unprecedented. If you put yourself in a scouts shoes it's easy to see why everyone is keeping Luck as the number 1 prospect on their respective boards in spite of everything there is to love about Griffin. |
Re: The Pro Days Thread
Who do you says Pro Day was better? I missed Luck's..
I didn't see either but from what I've heard they both did really well. Luck hit his mark on every pass (a few were dropped), while RG3 missed a couple. Luck added the 75 yard bomb, although it was dropped. So while they both did great, I assume slight edge to Luck. |
He had one bad pass. A throw to the back of the end zone.
