Big Ben gets nicked up but he usually stays on the field. Bradford is made of glass apparently.

I wouldn't call Big Ben a pocket QB. He's not a running QB, but he is pretty mobile and makes a lot of play outside the pocket.

Bucs acquired LG Logan Mankins from the Patriots in exchange for TE Tim Wright and a draft pick.

Ballsy sending your 5 x all-pro guard (07,10,11,12,13) off in a trade. Can't be good for Tom Brady.

donofriose 08-26-2014 03:15 PM

Re: Around the League...Training Camp Style!

I don't understand this trade for the Pats. A TE and an undisclosed draft pick? They supposedly had contract disputed and he was hating playing for the Pats but still doesn't make sense to me.

I guess it depends on the draft pick.

Alvin Walton 08-26-2014 04:15 PM

Re: Around the League...Training Camp Style!

They got a fairly decent tight end and a 4th rounder.
Mankins is still quite good but for how long?
I'd say the Pats got a good deal.

The player personnel execs in Tampa are two of Darth Hoodie's buddies. Belichick is just sending them a player they desperately need to help them out a bit.

So Seahawks cheat on ota's have had quite a few PED suspensions (I know we have had suspensions, but I think ours are mostly MJ), Pete Carroll was a cheat in college, but people still call Belichick Belicheat?

I think Carroll will skirt any rules he thinks he can. Don't like him. Never did.

Hoping and praying. It's almost shameful of how many fans are bashing the NFL and Goodell over this. When did we as society stop holding people accountable for their actions? We did we start making the wrong doers into the victims?

If the players don't like being fucked over by the very rules they voted on, maybe they should fucking change those same rules.

The heavy handness on weed is dumb. And the fact Goodell looks the other way on violent crime, even against women is laughable.

Now in the context of weed, Cheech and Chong up in pittsburg are driving around on game day smoking weed...i bet no suspension. but just test positive using behind close doors is a year's suspension?

This stuff not adding up

Re: Around the League...Training Camp Style!

when you look at how easy it is to pass the test, and how many times you have to fail to get a year suspension, it seems to me like gordon is the one that's dumb.

i don't like how the league prioritizes all the offenses... but i have no sympathy for a person that can't follow basic rules in place.

It wasn't meant for the players. Apparently fans don't get the fact that the NFL doesn't have anything to do with this drug policy. This is something the NFLPA voted on with the new CBA.

If it was only the NFLPA that approved the CBA, then practice squad players would make 10 mil and roster players would start at 20 mil for backups. If you honestly think the NFL has nothing to do with this then you are hopeless. Just because it is in the CBA does not mean the players wanted it. There is always a give and take when negotiating.

For the Gordon situation. The amount that was discovered in his system is next to nothing. You could get that much in your system from parking next to a group of people smoking it in a car and they open their door the same time you do and you breathe in some of the smoke.

Not to mention, he had one test of his sample actually pass. The other sample barely failed a ridiculous standard. The NFL standard is 10 times stricter than even the WADA standard. In the NFL, 15 nanograms is a failed test. A single hit of average marijuana is 500 to 1000 nanograms. Higher grade (aka chronic), which I would assume players would use since they can easily afford it, would be a whole lot higher.

Bottom line. The players have a 50% say so in the drug policy and they vote on it. The problem is most of these morons blow through their money on stupid shit, they sold out as fast as they can to get the money flowing.

They could change the limits on what's passing/failing. Again, much of this is on the players as well.

So you've already failed 2 drug tests and you think it's a good idea to be around others smoking dope knowing 2nd hand smoke could potentially give you a positive reading?

Do I really need to state much of a dumbfuck you have to be to actually do this? Me calling Josh Gordon a dumbfuck wouldn't even justify his stupidity. He deserves every bit of it because he's too god damn stupid to stop smoking weed (or being around it) to salvage his career.

Good on Jeff Fisher for calling ESPN out on their bullshit. It seems like all they've become over the past few years is the sporting version of TMZ. What happened to reporting good stories with facts? Have we devolved to doing stories on a dude's showering habits? Are you fucking kidding me?

I'd probably ban ESPN reporters(if I were Fish) after that kind of bullshit.

Fisher is covering for his players. But good on Fisher for protecting his players, and it's the right thing for ESPN to just admit complete fault and move on.

And did Fisher just wake up yesterday? Players and media reach out to each other on personal time, all the time. That's when most of the info is revealed.

Yeah, yeah I know I'm just apologizing for ESPN. Whatever

Wasn't addressing you specifically on the last part

24 hours/multiple channels plus digital-not every segment is going to be pulitzer prize winning.

But this whole "Sam showering with the fellas" thing is something that a lot of fans have wondered/worried about. I agree it should be a non-story, but it's not.
