4 mill...wow

Lol...I bet dumb fuck thinks he is a LG...lololololololololololol
Lauvao was making about $4 mil a year, maybe the Redskins think turnstiles posing as NFL lineman are supposed to be paid that.

Even with the cap increase $4 mil is still above an average NFL players yearly salary, that is a joke for Flowers.

He has been hot garbage his whole career and universally declared not only a bust but a bum who has been benched everywhere he has been.

This signing is stupid on every level.

He can't play and they could have added that 4 mil to a Crowder offer.

I doubt Club Jay is a place to get the most out of a player either. Where Belichick can make a scrub look like a pro bowler, the opposite is more likely to happen at Club Jay.

I'm trying to figure out the logic for signing Flowers. The only thing I can think of is to give the d- linemen confidence in training camp.

Don't know why that got me to laugh, that is a bad signing.

As a tackle yes, let's see what he can do as G which is what he was mainly brought in for. Maybe a change of scenery different OL coach, we'll see. He obviously had some kind of talent to be an overall 9th pick.

Honestly, if Flowers can stay healthy, that'll be an upgrade from Luvao. I'll be in wait and see mode on this signing.

Also, just read that the contract is heavily incentivized. So just another typical meh signing.

How do you guys have the time to watch all these players on other teams? I can understand a high profile position ..but dang I can’t hardly find time to watch the Skins.. 😀

Meh indeed, but meh signing of a player we didn't need but might transition to the position that's been a need for years... why the F didn't we sign a LG then ? There are guys available in FA !

Lavau was a middle of the road just a guy NFL lineman when healthy. He was just never healthy.

Flowers is a bad NFL lineman who has been benched by two teams while healthy.

Re: Redskins Free Agency Thread

With all the problems at Guard, why would this team continue to roll the dice with an unproven player at that spot? Really not a smart decision...it would make more sense if Bruce said this was our swing tackle, but Keim stated plan is to give him an opportunity at Guard. There are other better options in free agency.

If this is the team's "plan A" gor LG, then it would be ridiculous. But given the incentive laden deal, he's not. I'd like to see other offensive linemen signed. And I really hope they address this in the draft.

Flowers is garbage but this isn't a move that says the search for a starting guard is over. He's clearly a backup, I'm sure they'd like to look at him at guard, it's always good to have versatile backups, but much like the DRC signing this really doesn't warrant much of a reaction to me.

A Fathead of Shawn stuck to a tackling dummy would have been an upgrade over the real Lauvao, so that isn't saying much.

Chico23231 03-19-2019 11:37 AM

Re: Redskins Free Agency Thread

if it wasn’t something continuous with this team and it’s garbage front office and strategy I’d agree..but the fact they are doing relatively early in free agency says these are somehow priority moves.

The time of defending Bruce clearly over..the continued problems we at the same positions is easy to see why they happen.

Guard, oline depth, QB, WR, safety....these have been ongoing issues for years

One year 4 mill. If he can play guard even halfway decent im fine with it. Will not take much to upgrade that position. 24 years old. Who knows. Maybe we found a starter at guard.

I am not fan of the Flowers signing but I don't think it's big deal as long as Redskins doesn't view him as a good candidate to start at LG. I am disappointed Redskins haven't put in more efforts to upgrade LG so far.

Somebody please explain the Redskins logic in free agency. They have lots of positions where they need starters, not backups, special team guys or camp fodder. Wouldn't it be better to get one starter for the same money you can get 4 scrubs for? Other than Collins the signings have been for guys who will be lucky to make a good team's 53 man squad.

That is why the Skins are signing them. They aren't good. Have a HC in purgatory. Players upset at fans. Visiting fans taking over the home stadium. $20+ mill hamstrung in a QB that cannot play and if he decides to retire 40 mil against the cap this year. If you are a player with options this is not really an ideal place to play right now.

I am wondering if the next Cooley podcast will be uplifting and hopeful.

I wonder if he will say he is more suited for guard and the upside is worth the signing.

How many players have the current FO and coaching staff rescued from the junk pile and turned into highly productive players? I think that answer would be NONE.

Its such a weird strategy....Make Collins the highest paid safety with one of the biggest contracts in Free agency...and then refuse to spend anymore money to address long standing issues on the team...WR, Guard, pass rusher...

Still terrible. Cap hit of $3.0M if he's on the team. If he plays a lot then it goes up to $4.0M.

One of the worst Redskins moves I can remember.
