Moss Randle El Mix Thrash Mathis Thomas Kelly Who are the odd men out? Will Zorn carry 5 or 6 WRs?
Thrash, Mix/Mathis, or a trade for ARE most likely to go. No? |
Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
Thrash is a Gibbs-guy and, although I love his attitude, I doubt he'll be on the roster come September. Jerome "I hit fetuses" Mathis is likely gone as he has limited value as a receiver and we have enough return men on the roster. My guess is we start the season with Moss, ARE, Thomas, Kelly and perhaps Mix.
Well we've now got:

Will Zorn carry 5 or 6 WRs?
I'd put my money that we keep 5 or 6 wide receivers, if it's five wide receivers I think the guys would be Moss, El, Thomas, Kelly, and Mix, but if it's 6 then Thrash stays on the roster. Either way I don't see "Baby Beater" Mathis as anything more than training camp fodder, we don't need him at wideout and we don't need him to return anything. |
Woohoo! I'm psyched to see us pick up Brennan. I think this kid has the potential to be a decent backup studying with Zorn and Collins.
Who knows, if the worst happens with JC we might have a new starter in a few seasons. |

Not to mention Devin Thomas is a very good return guy as well, which makes Mathis even more expendable. |
Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
Yeah, we definitely don't have to worry about depth at returning kicks/punts. El, Thrash, Kelly, Thomas, Cartwright, Betts could all be used in one capacity or the other, exactly why we don't need Mathis.

Bills draft estranged son of former Utah Jazz great Malone
Demetrius Bell is no longer trying to follow in the footsteps of his father -- basketball great Karl Malone -- after the two-sport college athlete was drafted by the Buffalo Bills on Sunday. Nor does the swingman-turned-offensive lineman care whether "The Mailman" notices. The two have been estranged for most of Bell's life. And Bell, who switched from basketball to football three years ago at Northwestern State University, doesn't expect that to change after he was selected with the 219th overall pick. Damn, woulda been cool to have the Mailman's son on our team. Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
Well we've now got:
Moss Randle El Mix Thrash Mathis Thomas Kelly Who are the odd men out? Will Zorn carry 5 or 6 WRs?
Well Mathis has almost zero chance of making this team. He needs an injury to another of the players to really even have a chance. The top 4 spots are taken in Moss, Randle El, Thomas and Kelly. Whether we keep 5 or 6 probably determines who gets kept. |
Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
I see Mathis getting the spot over Thrash in the end. At the first game of the ragular season I see
Moss Randle El Thomas Kelly Mathis and maybe MIx But I see Thrash as the odd man out |
Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
Malcolm Kelly is supposed to be on Sirius NFL Radio in the next hour - probably more like 30 minutes since he has a press conference at 11am. If he comes on I'll try to synopsize.

Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
I may be wrong, but I think it would've looked better if we had drafted an offensive lineman or a defensive lineman instead of Brennan even though all the good ones were gone. We've got Carson Palmer's brother left over from last year's draft, plus Hollenbach. I'm sure there are others we could've signed as a free agent.
About Thrash, we needed him for special teams last year. I don't know how good the players we drafted will fit in on special teams. Zorn shouldn't depend so much on Cerrato and Snyder (but maybe he has to...). |

Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
Actually Hollenbach is the 3rd Qb right now. Palmer is in Cincy with his brother now.
