Well we can afford to trade Arch but it would be a mighty big hit and really limit our ability to do much else. Maybe a few moves if structured right. I tend to think they are planning on giving Arch one more shot. Get a little value from him and then maybe ditch him next year if all hope is lost. I am willing to give the guy another shot as long as the coaches are on board with using him in the best way possible. Bly doesn't seem like like a guy we'd take a huge cap hit to get even if dumping Arch was part of it.
Springs? Both players want to leave their current teams. |

That would actually be a good offseason, but I doubt we have the money to outbid other teams. By the way, does anyone know if White can play inside? |

by cutting all those players and picking up brand new players, you have the obvious learning curve pains that they are going to go thru, which may cost us a few games. But more importantly, if we are going to get back to the playoffs this year or the next, we need to preserve our continuity. We can't go out every offseason and add 4 or 5 FA's that are pricey at the cost of some of our veteran players. This changes the locker room dynamic and if u have noticed the skins have typically been better in the second half of the season for the past 5 years or so, b/c it takes time for these new players to gel into the system. The best teams in the league, even after having mediocre seasons, keep their core of players and make a few conservative changes. dropping all 3 of those players u mentioned is very very risky because u have team leaders and personalities that u are just yanking out of the mix and completely overhauling the roster. im all in favor of getting better but we need do it in a calculated manner that provides for long term success. |

But at the same time, I won't be suprised if Wynn gets cut. He signed a nice contract and never lived up to it. I thinks its time to move on. |
Re: NFL Live: Dre Bly Rumors
'SKINS OUT, SAINTS IN FOR BLY
A source with knowledge of the situation tells us that the Redskins have dropped out of the bidding for Lions cornerback Dre' Bly. Taking their place, we're told, are the Saints. The other serious suitor is the Denver Broncos. We're told that the deal would involve tackle George Foster and a third-round pick, or Foster and running back Tatum Bell. The Broncos, we're told, currently are the favorites to land Bly. Stay tuned. I would link you guys to PFT, but my god you can find the same link anywhere. Or type 'profootballtalk.com'. Yes, I'm a jerk. |

Re: NFL Live: Dre Bly Rumors
Smoot is coming back for sure now. There isn't any one else out there. Skins would be stupid to pass him up.

Re: NFL Live: Dre Bly Rumors
I think this puts Smoot into serious play then.
I'd rather have Smoot than Bly, but god damn would I rather have Clements.
Springs is probably in his last year here at best and as I stated before, the FA market will not be kind to us next year. So we have to get a corner who can start along side Rogers in the future. Smoot is satisfactory, but barely. If we are going to spend a considerable amount of money anyway, we might as well go after Clements. |
Re: NFL Live: Dre Bly Rumors
can we get fletcher, smoot, clements, draft a top DL and sign a decent LG?
can we get fletcher, smoot, clements, draft a top DL and sign a decent LG?
If we got Clements, we woudn't need Smoot. And yes, I think we could get Clements, Fletcher and a Guard for less than 8 million this year.

Re: NFL Live: Dre Bly Rumors
ESPN ticker just said the lions agreed to trade dre bly to the broncos for george foster and tatum bell so looks like that's the end of that.

Tatum Bell? I'll bet Kevin Jones is super excited to hear that! |
Re: NFL Live: Dre Bly Rumors
I'll bet tatum bell is even happier!

I think Jones isn't going to be ready for the regular season, so they'll be looking at Bell for the majority of the year, I think. When/if Jones gets back, it should be nice to be able to split carries, even though they're basically the same back. Jones is a little more physical, but not much. I don't like this deal if I'm the Lions. |
