IF we are going to get a big name defensive player that is great, but it should be a DB or LB. Rolle would be a great acquisition for us!!!!! Get Rolle and draft a LB or another DB in the latter rounds.
I am going to assume the guys we are 'high"on are Dansby, Dunta R., and Sproles out of the top guys available.

Hoping Ryan Clark is on that list as well.

Now I have no clue as to what the FO is going to do about the offense yet.
Absolutely, Most Definitely, Certainly, Not So Much

I suspect thought that if things go as they hope there will probably be more big names going out than coming in
That's encouraging...signing Peppers would be just like old time. The bad old times.
I don't think we need him here but if we did sign him it would be at a much lower rate than he's expecting to get. And I'm sure he'll find what he's looking for.

Peppers has been slightly better then people give him credit for. I mean he had a down year in 2007 but that was the year the Panthers got rid of their own double team magnet in Kris Jenkins. I mean the man got 14.5 sacks in 2008 and 10.5 last year being practically double teamed all the time. However given the fact that Peppers likely isn't coming here then I guess most of this discussion is a moot point.
Yeah i argue with the Panther fans. The guy is dominant we will see this year how the Panthers look without him. Teams can avoid him but it limits what they can do on offense. Again they wanted 2 first rounders for him. That says enough to me.
If Carolina stole 2 first rounders from someone last year, that would have been the steal of the century. I am telling you people that he isn't worth all the hype.

He had good personel on the D in Carolina, so it wasn't like he was getting doubled all the time. They have pretty damn good LB's and a decent D line. Hell a few years ago they were considered one of the best D lines in the business with chris Jenkins in the middle. The guy is just....Lazy i guess is a word that comes to mind. The season before last, Carolina was trying to take advantage of his athletisism and dropping him in coverage from time to time, and one he stunk, but two he couldn't stand it. Which is what got him asking for the outs in Carolina. His past few years here have been so up and down. He would dominate a game with 3 sacks, force a fumble, get some tackles, then you wouldn't here his name for 3 or 4 games. HE is a moody athlete. I would rather us spend the money on some Oline depth, god knows we have had some history of olineman staying healthy.

I dont see where people keep saying Peppers was doubled all year. Trust me dude, he was not. The last two seasons all people did around here is bitch about Peppers and why he couldn't get past the single lineman, or TE. he was not doubled near as much as people are saying. Carolina is actually really really really glad to see him go. They are tired of his attitude, his so/so play, and overall seemingly lack of interest. He wasn't a leader. Hell he was even called out in the locker room/radio show by a second year LB....Jon Beason. Who by the way is the next Ray Lewis. This guy is a monster, but I digress... Beason called out peppers and said he needed to play 100% all the time and stop being lazy. That is from a second year guy!! Beason is the leader of the D. What does that say about Peppers??

I am hoping this is just one of those rumors that some big name is coming to the skins because the Skins always sign for crazy money. Hopeful Bruce Allen sees this is a waste of money, this guy reeks of Jason Taylor part two.

Smoot,

What will we do about the safety position? I am really interested to see what comes out of Ashburn and what goes in. Is there truth to the Landry leaving rumors?

Does this mean we plan on cutting several big name guys or hoping we can trade them?

Assuming we switch to a 3-4 and Shanahan doesn't like Campbell, i'd love to see:

"Big Name" Signings

Karlos Dansby
Dunta Robinson
Darren Sproels
Kevin Walter
"Big Name" Cuts

Clinton Portis
Randy Thomas
Randel El
Rock Cartwright
Todd Collins
Fred Smoot
Cornelius Griffin
Reynaldo Wynn
Traded*

Laron Landry - 3rd and 4th Round Picks
Santana Moss - 3rd Round Pick
Jason Campbell - 3rd and 4th Round Picks
Andre Carter - 4th Round Pick
Carlos Rogers - 2nd Round Pick
Rocky McIntosh - 4th Round Pick
*I would accept young, promising, zoneblocking offensive linemen in place of draft picks.

Great post 56, st. from Charlotte! Always good to get the local view.

Peppers is like Haynesworth at a different position. I believe he & AH were on a dubious top 10 nfl diva list that came out this past year (fox sports or cbs I believe). He can dominate but isn't an every down guy & even worse, it seems like he doesn't give what AH does on each play.

Please Bruce Allen & Shanny, if the Danny wants this guy waive the biggest red (not burgundy) flags you have!

My question exactly. Allen has a history of cutting old, expensive vets.
