Re: RUMOR: Skins Want To Deal Devin Thomas
Doesnt bother me, get rid of him or let him keep returning kickoffs. I would rather get a pick for him honestly.
He did miss time in the offseason, but it was due to injury. |
Re: RUMOR: Skins Want To Deal Devin Thomas
So by round that breaks down to
1st round --- 3 (92, 95, 01) 2nd round -- 4 (86, 03, 07, 07) 3rd round ---2 (82, 02) 4th ----------3 (84, 94, 97) 5th ----------1 6th ----------1 7th ----------6 8th ----------1 9th ----------0 10th --------1 11th --------3 12th --------3 I don't know what other teams distribution of WR picks is, but using only 7 1st or 2nd round picks on WR's in 29 years, seems like one reason why we have had the drought at WR production. |
Re: RUMOR: Skins Want To Deal Devin Thomas
Man, that is depressing. I would argue though that if Westbrook had been a 3rd or maybe even a 2nd round pick, and had not stole S. Davis, fans would look back at him as being a decent wr, maybe a really good #2. Same for Rod Gardner, he was also a decent #2.
I havent heard stole used like that since at least '92...nice In regards to picking WRs, maybe we need to try free agency cause that is horrendous. |

Which works out to 7.3/year and about 7* per team. So, we're roughly in line with the average, probably slightly below when you factor in expansion, but really close. I was surprised at the drought of selections, though between 2003 and 2008 *Did not account for expansion during the years of 1980-2009. |

Re: RUMOR: Skins Want To Deal Devin Thomas
Since I'm going through the motions:
Breakdown by teams: WRs Drafted in the first 2 rounds since 1980: ATL: 4 BUF: 10 CAR: 4 CHI: 7 CIN: 9 CLE: 7 IND: 6 ARI: 6 DAL: 9 DEN: 8 DET: 10 GB: 7 HOU: 2 JAX: 3 KC: 5 MIA: 7 MIN: 7 NOR: 7 NE: 10 NYG: 10 NYJ: 8 TEN/HOU: 6 PHI: 9 PIT: 10 OAK: 4 STL/LA: 8 BAL/CLE: 11* SD: 6 SEA: 6 SF: 4 TB: 8 WAS: 8 *I absorb CLE's draft history into BAL for players drafted before 1995 |
Re: RUMOR: Skins Want To Deal Devin Thomas
Drafting WRs and QBs early is an absolute crapshoot. Between the Skins lousy record of WRs (Desmond Howard, Michael Westbrook, Rod Gardner, Taylor Jacobs, Devin Thomas, Malcolm Kelly) and QBs (Heath Shuler, Patrick Ramsey, Jason Campbell) selected in the first two rounds since the last Super Bowl appearance, one can argue that is the biggest factor in their continued mediocrity since the glory days. For those screaming to draft a WR with next year's #1, I say PLEASE DON'T!!! Continue to build the O and D lines. Great teams are built from the inside out.

Re: RUMOR: Skins Want To Deal Devin Thomas
For me it's just so painful having to reflect on the fact this being the 3rd yr. for Thomas, Kelly and Davis, we've reaped so little in return for their lofty draft status.
I'm mindful however of the half season Davis contributed last year in the absence of Cooley, but have often thought about how little we may know of him had Cooley not gotten hurt. I think we'd all like to see Davis more involved in the offense, Kelly's future is still uncertain and now DT could be considered in a trade. This is a mixed bag if there ever was one, if DT can't find a way into the offense, draft picks are sorely needed should the team decide to trade him. |

Maybe it's a motivational tool.

Re: RUMOR: Skins Want To Deal Devin Thomas
we should contact the pats, randy moss wants out, we should swap him for fat albert, end of our wide out problems.

Why? One malcontent for another. At least, maybe just maybe AH could be turning it around. Moss has a history of being a prima donna everywhere he's been and I would consider him more of a problem than AH. |
Re: RUMOR: Skins Want To Deal Devin Thomas
to quote eddie murphay " what have you done for me lately." randy moss puts points on the board. AH puts his foot in his mouth.

That's the problem that's so unrewarding, we draft a guy in the 2nd rd; he has problems developing and 2 1/2 yrs. later we feel fortunate to be able to get a 7th rounder for him in a trade. Unbelievable!! |

He doesn't really "want out" though. He said he wants to be there, but he doesn't think they'll bring him back. |
