I'd like to see us going after a WR in this draft, maybe jones falls in the teens? It could happen
That will happen and I would love to get Julio Jones. |
Re: 2011 NFL Draft
If Mike Floyd from ND comes out I would like to take a shot at him in a later round. He reminds me of a Hakeem nicks like player very big and very physical. he probably does not have the play making ability of Hicks but 6 foot 3 and 225 pounds and fast

Re: 2011 NFL Draft
I wouldnt mind us taking Matthews-LB-Oregon in the 2nd round

If he's anything like his brother than yes we should definintely take him in the second. |
Re: 2011 NFL Draft
With the team's roster being so lacking in talent/depth, I say draft the best available player regardless of position. We are far from stacked at any spot, so just take the best players and start filling those holes. I'd love to see the team be able to pry Woodley away from the Steelers w/o giving up any kind of draft pick. Haloti Ngata is also scheduled to become a UFA, adding him would be outstanding.
We should hire away some Steeler scouts too why we're at it. They know how to find 3-4 talent. |
Re: 2011 NFL Draft
I'm looking at Rodney Hudson G from FSU as a major target for many reasons
- He's the best Zone Blocking guard to come out in years - our OL still needs massive help - the Free agent G/C's are poor this year; specifically guards - where we'll be picking, he should definitely be there and we wouldn't necessarily be reaching IMO |
Re: 2011 NFL Draft
I have a gut feeling that this could be one of the better WR drafts in years...
I think... Top Tier: Pettis - Boise State Blackmon - Ok State Jones - Alabama Jefferey - So Carolina Green - Georgia Floyd - Notre Dame Broyles - Oklahoma Next Tier: Baldwin - Pitt Fuller - Tex A&M Wildcard (b/c of injury)- Childs - Arkansas ALL of those top 7 guys are pretty close to sure things in my opinion... I think the Skins should definitely be able to get one of these guys in the 1st round or even trade down and still land one of those, plus picks... I like ALL of 'em personally... I like our chances of getting a decent WR, even by trading down... which is what we need to do. |
Re: 2011 NFL Draft
IF the qb is on his back it doesn't matter who we have for recievers

Re: 2011 NFL Draft
This team needs help on the OL and a QB for the future. One thing for sure, it will be a good year to draft a QB.

Re: 2011 NFL Draft
Andrew Luck, Stanford**
If he comes out early.. I say we make a move for him. Maybe we need someone with a name like that to bring "luck" to Washington. If not, then we draft another Lineman, and look to get him next year... |
Re: 2011 NFL Draft
I know someone here said "no" to Tyrod Taylor, and although I'm a biased Hokie, here me out. If he's there in the 4th or beyond he's worth serious consideration. There's talk that he might have to play wr, but I think it will really come down to his combine measurement. If he's actually 6' he can play qb. He can make every throw, is a great runner, poised & high character, pretty smart kid. If he's closer to 5'10 than 6' I don't see many teams wanting him to play qb.
He might be a luxury for this team, but even if he's not the qb of the future he could be fit in somewhere a la Brad Smith of the jets. He is definitely coachable & the type of guy that Shan likes. |

I'm with you on this. I'm a skills position loving fool also but I have mended my way of thinking. It does not matter who we bring in heck bring in the next BPA at TE ... again and it still won't matter. We do have many issues across the board but I think OL stands out. Clearly we saw what happens when the OL can't stop the rush or create a hole for the RB. and.... people keep clammering for a Guard, why? I just don't get it. If you were going to build a house why would you start with the center support beam? why wouldn't you start with the outer beams first, ie; LT, C, RT? Maybe it's just me but I figure we can still make Heyer and some others servicable at Guard who sucked at LT or RT. I'm not leaving out the DL either. We need help there also, especially at NT. Obviously on defense we need NT, LB, and FS. I can't figure out what Jarmin is going to be? DE/LB? He's not big enough for NT. Look all I'm saying is I've been a skill position advocate for years.... it's not working. I'm ready to change my way of thinking to see if the bad ju ju the Skins have can be lifted. |
Re: 2011 NFL Draft
Not sure that anyone is clamoring for just a guard, it's one of many needs.

Our guards are guys that have struggled just to make a roster, much less start. It's not just the guards, but the C also. The interior of this line has been dominated quite a bit and not much investment in youth at those positions has been undertaken in years. Watch for more of it on sunday. Rabach et al can't block Ratliff, but the pokes will also look to expose the A gap w/Brooking, James or a db blitzing straight up the middle. In the first dallas game, CP saved McNabb's ass at least 5 times w/last second blocks on guys up the middle. |
