Not sure it's even worth calling a PR move. A writer has a beer with Snyder in New Orleans and writes about it in his blog and it gets mentioned in a WP blog. Blogs these days are full of mundane items like this.

If that's a PR plug our PR guy isn't earning his pay.
I agree FD. The average fan doesn't give two shits about this stuff.
I sure as hell don't. I mean the guy has a beef with a newspaper, so the **** what. Guy has a beer in the French Quarter, if he didn't what the hell would he be there for ? Alls I give a shit about is teh team that I liek to watch. I didn tknow what the hell Jack or John Kent Cooke did in their personal lives and I really dont care about Dannys.

We need to get our priorities in check. **** the losing tenure, look towards next year. Have fun being a fan people, ****. But I know what they'll say, how can I when he keeps SHUT THE HELL UP. Learn to say I don't care, because it's really that easy. I have friends who try to,...why am I talking about this shit. It's drinking time !
My bad i misread it and thought it was Steinberg’s encounter.

But that doesnt really change the thoughts in my post. Youre supposed to act like a decent person all the time, people rarely get called out and recognized for doing positive or non-negative stuff. A new thread started about how Snyder somehow managed not to do anything bad last week wouldnt generate over a page worth of replies, because it illustrates how a normal decent person acts.
I've been critical of Snyder and likely will be again.

But wouldn't it be great to have 15 minutes with him to see if our media-fueled perceptions of him are accurate or not? And if we found out that he was not such a bad guy in those 15 minutes, wouldn't that make our perceptions more real and meaningful?

I grant that 15 minutes is a very short time to get to know someone. But it beats the heck out of zero minutes.

Im sure dan can be a nice guy to hang out with and be around, maybe he tells really good stories and makes everyone laugh.

But i look at like what does it matter if he makes a good first impression or if hes a fun guy to hang out with. Maybe Mike Vick was a great guy to grab a beer with back when he was killing dogs. If you knew what Vick was going to do after he pays your tab would you still be chummy with him or would think to yourself this guy is a piece of trash.

Actions speak louder then words in my opinion. All Snyder has to do is stop being a piece of shit and my impression of him will change. Until then id pass on his free beer and giving 15 minutes of my time to him.

As we've been over he's done a lot of good stuff off the field, which in my view carries more weight as to the kind of person he is vs. the things that he's done that impact on the field stuff. But I know, nobody wants to hear about that. A feud with a newspaper is what defines him.

Matt you are forgetting that a guy I knew saw a guy who said he talked to a guy whose cousin used to work for a guy whose sister had a boyfriend whose 6th grade teacher him and Dan was a dick to him. Also, you are forgetting about the time he bled the breaks on that school bus full of children and nuns. Also, he ended the Washington Redskins' streak of 58 consecutive Super Bowls.

Mmmm, must be drinking the Kool Aid. Never thought it would be you....

I see no problem with that piece to be honest with you, and really don't care as long as it's not negative. Cool, so "Dan" wants to make people think he's just one of the boys out having a beer with the cohorts. All good, no hating here. Do I think it's a PR move? Probably not, but I do think this part was included for a specific reason.
I said it was good to meet you, Mr. Snyder. “Dan,’’ he said.
Not sure I'm reading this right, but are you saying the good he's done has outweighed the bad in terms of "what kind of person" he is? If so, that statement is laughable. There is no way in hell this guy has done enough good to atone for the bad he's done. So what he gives to charity, that's tax deductible and benefits him just as much as it does the recipients. Let me know when you see Dan volunteering his time at the local homeless shelter, food bank, or other various public needs.

That said, what really matters in the end is that he stays clear the **** away from the football side of things. If Dan wants to be a douchebag and overcharge you guys out the ass, then fine by me. If Dan wants to make it so you can't walk onto the premises and have to pay his exuberant parking fees, fine by me. I dont' even care if he raises the beer costs to $25 a cup or $15 for a hot dog. That stuff doesn't matter to me. What does matter is that he stays away from football operations, and how he represents this organization.

Like it or not, Dan Snyder IS the Washington Redskins. When the Redskins are trashed and viewed as dysfunctional, it's all because it starts at the top.

Re: Danny Snyder Forces The Washington Post to Rename “Redskins Insider” to “Football Insider”

the weird thing i find about snyder is the fans that will villify other fans for disliking him and defend him as if they know him claiming that we are all just haters that want to hate. you can say he donated to charities but what weight does that carry? is he the only billionare that give money to charities, no. but you hear about it all the time from people claiming he is a good person based on his acts of charity. why is that? just because someone donates a large sum of money to a charity does that make them a good person?

we have been up and down this road 100 times, i just don't really understand the reason why anyone would choose to defend him anymore, is it based soley off his donations?

Don't confuse being a Snyder "fan" with simply pointing out the other side of the argument. I'm not a Snyder fan. I'm well aware of his F ups. Just saying there are more important things in life to be judged on. Some of you are so jaded you can't even acknowledge the possibility of there being another side to the argument.

i'm not saying it doesn't exist, i just think he has shown his true colors over the years he has been here. i was a huge fan when he first got here, then he fired marty and we all know what happened next.

so based on his track record since he has joined the team, that is what i base my view of ds.

Re: Danny Snyder Forces The Washington Post to Rename “Redskins Insider” to “Football Insider”

Well I guess I'm dragging myself back into this. Snyder does a lot more than just donate his money and use of his private plane. The majority of charitable events the Redskins sponsor-food drives, park cleanup, playground renovation, etc-he's there helping out. I really don't know him very well myself and I have some bad stories, that most of you probably don't know about. But most people ibtak to who know him have nothing but good things to say about him as a person. He just doesn't that type of personality that conveys it. Do I wish some things were different? Sure. Who doesn't? But honestly, much of the hatred is based on speculation and ignorance to the world of sports ownership and the relation between sports teams and the media. What this thread is originally about is stuff that I've dealt with many many times over the past 15 years with leagues, teams, and even players. But it's understood that isn't brought up in public. Yet no one seems to say anything about the post's actions here. But again that's largely due to ignorance people have that this type of situation has never happened before. Call me an apologist if you want, but I'd rather be that then someone who compares protecting a brand with systematically executing dogs.
