Let's see if you can handle hitting people and being hit for a good portion of your life and waking up every Monday with bruises all over. Oh, and don't sleep through those boring team meetings, don't complain about the tedious rehab regiments should you blow a knee, and don't complain about the weather. And MOST CERTAINLY DON'T COMPLAIN about the psychological stress and pressure the fans and the media put on you. Besides, players don't play in air conditioned workplaces unless its in a dome. |

It is the owners that sit fat in the air conditioned owners box while the players are sweating on the field and putting theirs LIVES on the line in a very violent and dangerous game. There are four NFL players that I know about that are now permanently quadriplegic from playing NFL football. Plus two, Thomas Herrion (49ers) and Korey Stringer (Vikings) that died immediately after walking off the football field from heat Stroke. Not sure how many of your 65K cubicle co-workers were injured severely enough to end up quadriplegics or end up dieing from work related hazards? |

Go spend your money elsewhere then. Playing NFL football is high risk and not as much as reward as people believe. And it takes a lot of hard work and dedication. Its clear a lot of people here don't think of these guys as human beings but just as pawns to entertain them. |
Re: Twitter burns as Owners ratify
I recognize the NFL players as human beings and I hope that they come back to the league, but if they are adamant about not playing this season, then let the owners use replacement players.
The sad thing is alot of these pro players have no education or any kind of practical skills outside of playing football. If they dont play, it's very sad but they will most likely be broke within a year or two...that is truly a sad thing. |
Re: Twitter burns as Owners ratify
I'm late to the party, so what did Vonnie do that pissed everyone off? And why are people generally pissed in this thread?

I played in a game were a player died an another almost did it wasn't the coaches or the other team...and it took me along time to realize that....it just happens and people do the best they can but as the T-shirt says ....shit happens |

When did the players EVER say they didn't want to play? Remember, they were locked out and the league could have ended the lockout at a moment's notice if they chose to. Secondly, the owners are not allowed to use replacement players because, again, THEY initiated this work stoppage. Finally, of all of the major (and minor) sports, football players are the most educated with all of them attending at least 3 years of post high school education. No other sport comes close to that. Most players turn into viable and productive members of society after their playing days are done. I'm so glad football will be back next week so we can be rid of these inane conversations. |

You are right, players are human. Just like anyone else, NFL players exist only for my sake. |

The NFL will probably never go that route again. |
