Re: Landry to miss opener vs Giants
The question was who I would feel better lining up.

I can root for doughty....he's a likable guy who is a great dad, IMHO, is he better? No, but there are other considerations to me than simply "winning" - like who I root for.

I would start Landry if I were the coach - I'm not the coach, just a fan.

I have other priorities that I deem even more important.
I was basing my question on who the better player is. RD may be the better dude but that doesn't help on the field.
Thing I really like about Doughty, is that he's smart. he has a feel for the game.

#21 was his fan loooong before anyone even knew who he was. Not a bad endorsement. :food-smil

Nicks and Manningham???

Did you happen to see Nicks at all this preseason? If he's hurting I'm afraid to see him healthy. And yeah that article is a little dated.
That injury article is 5 weeks old. Given that Nicks and Manningham have been playing, we might presume that they are now feeling much better.

I'm with Saden. I'm not looking forward to Doughty on Nicks.
So how did Laron fare against these two?

Mario Manningham - Catches: 4 yds:101 Ave:25.3 long:92 TD:1

Hakeem Nicks - out.

....with doughty?

Mario Manningham - Catches:2 yds:36 Ave:18.0 long23 TD:0

Hakeem Nicks - out.

Right, because as we know there were no other factors involved.

Might as well just cut LL now, RD is clearly superior.

Re: Landry to miss opener vs Giants

Hakeem Nicks reached 1000+ yards in 13 games last season and Manningham had NINE-HUNDRED FORTY-FOUR YARDS while starting only EIGHT games last season--yes he was alsoactive for all 16 games--. Not to mention those two combined for TWENTY touchdowns for the Giants last season. Put in perspective, our ENTIRE team only scored TWENTY-ONE touchdowns last season.

I'm not trying to get into this lame argument, but if you would rather go up against Nicks and Manningham with Doughty rather than Landry you're crazy.

With two receptions for 13 yards after two preseason games, No. 1 wide receiver Hakeem Nicks has yet to find his rhythm.

Although he made a spectacular one-handed catch in practice on Thursday, those sort of plays have been few and far between.

Jets: WR Hakeem Nicks – Nicks played much more in this game tonight then he has so far in the preseason. He had a good game and finished with 5 receptions for 71 yards.

Patriots: Sat out with the other starters.

Not exactly tearing it up.....

....and how am I supposed to present a case based on anything else?

The stats are the stats.....I can't present what's not there. That would be guessing, i.e., making crap up. :silly:

Nicks will be the best player on the field come Sunday. Guy is a monster, had no problem taking him 2nd and 3rd rounds in fantasy drafts. I think he steps into the top 5 receiver group this year.

Stats are only part of the story.

Nicks and Manningham are a pretty sick combo. They are going to test our secondary.
