Update as of 2 minutes ago:

The Pennsylvania State Attorney General says that the state is not pursuing charges against Joe Paterno, however, they announced that he is facing charges of perjury, obstruction of justice, and violation of the state's Child Protective Services Law, in the upcoming lawsuit by the plaintiffs in the sexual abuse case. They are saying that Jail time for JoePa does remain a possibility if he is convicted on all counts..
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought Joe Paterno's retirement was effective immediatley and he was not going to finish the season.

I think what should happen, is that Joe should be brought up on charges, and his name and reputation should basically be trashed because of this. They should take his name and face down from Penn State as the ultimate punishment, which still isn't enough for a guy who covered up a major sex scandal involving little kids for the better part of 15 years.

When the fallout is over, he should be completley blacklisted from college football and penn state. This makes me think of the Chris Benoit WWE situation where even though Benoit was in the hall of fame and all that, they removed all mention and memory of him in wake of his crime he committed...
I agree 100%

It is impossible to believe this stuff is unfolding like this for JP and the Penn state program. It will be decimated.....
SO many screwed up lives because nobody would report this creep years ago.....just wow.

NC Skins letter worked. JoePa fired as Penn State head coach. Def. Coord. Tom Bradley named interim head coach.

Happy to see they're both out, but the wr coach and anyone else associated with this need to be fired too. F you JoePa. Especially considering your lame ass statement about being shocked and saddened considering you've known for years.

These ****ing cunts allowed more kids to be victimized...firing them is not enough, I want a river of blood to run.

Good. When Paterno said in his statement that the Board of Trustees should “not spend a single minute discussing my status” I was pretty appalled. I mean that's a slap in the face to the Board. And what right does he have? If I was in his situation I couldn't go to my bosses and say "You know what, don't worry about me. I'm just going to go ahead and do my thing and leave when I'm ready to leave" Just doesn't and shouldn't work that way.

Marcellus Wiley said it best. How could the NCAA not allow Dez Bryant to play another game because he had dinner with Deion Sanders yet Joe Paterno could keep coaching until he decides he doesn't want to anymore.

Sorry, a legacy is ruined, especially so late in his life (kind of reminds me a bit of Helen Thomas' situation), but he had 10 years to do something about it. And he didn't. So he ruined his own legacy

And Sandusky. I mean it totally baffles me how a grown adult could even think of doing the things he did to those kids. And then to actually do them. I feel terrible for those poor kids. The grand jury report is unfortunately very graphic. And if you're mad about the situation without reading it, you'd be livid if you did

Yeah, when I heard JoePa say that, I thought, "Are you for real? You are going to steer the Board of Trustees into not talking about this?" Maybe he's just going senile but he is on another planet and not a very good one.

Anyone catch the streets of State College? This student body reaction is scary. It's like the entire population is in a collective uproar over the firing... the firing of a pedophile enabler. You could throw this into a sociology intro textbook, under the Groupthink chapter. The defiant Penn State chants are eerily similar to those of a cult. I'm baffled as to how an entire community can actually muster up a movement in support of JoePa.

I want to volunteer for a Sandusky suicide watch.

" Hey Jerry, I'm going for a cup of coffee. Here, hold my gun for me while I'm gone."

it's insane, the only thing i can think is that it is mostly all young kids, alot of them probably under 20. i hope they are just unable to see the situation as a whole and would like to think that no one would ever support someone who enabled such a terrible thing to continue on under his watch. cause at the end of the day paterno knew about two seperate incidents and sandusky was still allowed on campus and with young chilidren, unexcusable.
