I would guess we'll only see DJ returning punts in critical situations.

How does being a #2/#3 = a terrible player? Is Andre Roberts a terrible player?
I beleive he was saying they are terrible becasue their talent level is 2/3 but their salary is for a 1.

At this point you put Santana Moss back to return punts every game and who cares if he gets hurt!

That's what I was thinking.

Nope you missed what I was saying. Roberts should be great

We pay players for their production now, we don't overpay. Some teams overpaid this offseason, we didn't. We played a bit of chicken and it paid off for us.

Funny how being smart in free agency works. You know how many GMs are kicking themselves this morning reading the numbers? F*ckem, we ball. :oink:
Winston gave up 7 sacks last year, pass
I recall reading somewhere that nearly all of those sacks were given up early in the season and that more than half of them happened in one terrible game. Then he settled down and played well for the rest of the season.

Somebody correct me if I'm mistaken about that.

I think Winston is probably worth a shot on a team-friendly contract. I'm not saying that he should be handed the starting job but just that he or another vet, perhaps Clabo, should be brought in to compete for the job.

Yep, if the negotiation was over in 30 minutes, it would be a sign we paid too much. The fact that it stretched on well into the night tells me Bruce hung in and did what was prudent, he made sure not to pay more than market value.

I think this is a little under market value too because of the timing. Only a handful of teams had the cap space to make this happen. If he was released at the end of February, he gets his $10M per season.
Andy Reid also limited him in terms of returning punts and I hope we do the same. You don't let a marquee receiver get hurt on punt returns.
Id be fine with him returning 15-20 punts a year. Kickoffs too. Imo you can get hurt just as easily in practice, at wr, or on returns.

Ok it was a terrible business decision to pay those guys that kind of money, better?

Big moments only.

But hey, you can't get hurt when you TAKE IT TO THE HOUSE.

I was thinking the same which made it even more of a Dick move by Philly; if they had released him before FA started he would have easily been the number one FA this year.

Rather just draft a Tackle in the 2nd or 3rd and let him compete with Polumbus/Compton
