Haskins might be one of the worst first rounders I have ever seen. Ryan Leaf and JaMarcus Russell may be worse. Shuler was really bad as well. Haskins is right there with those 3.

Let's not get carried away w/ Heineken. He certainly played well yesterday. Dropped a few dimes and can do the basics, unlike Haskins. But I think if he has to start and play an entire game from the start it may not go well. Smith really isn't any better at this point, he just has experience. We don't have a QB and will have to address the position after the season.

Nah, starting DH was just the only decision to be made. DH was the best option for the team last night, he just played terribly. With the stripper incident, DH put Ron in an impossible position, but with the chance to win the division, you owe it to the rest of the team to start the guy you think gives you the best chance. Unfortunately with Alex out, that was DH. Honestly, if there was no stripper incident, the decision to start DH probably wouldn't have even be questioned.

You're not starting Heinicke over DH last night - period. Now that last night happened, it's a different story.

Oh yeah definitely. I'm not sure anybody would think otherwise. Alex Smith is one of the most amazing sports stories I've ever witnessed, and he actually played quite well in some games, but we know he's not the future, and we need a starting QB next year.

Philly would love nothing more than to knock us out of the playoffs, their state of mind after losing to Dallas and being eliminated is the question. Philly has 5 WR's and TE's that can play (Jeffries, D.Jackson and Ertz are back and playing well)

Things that worry me:

Smith coming back and being rusty
No Terry
Gibson after yesterday (hopefully no setback)

Philly lost Fletcher Cox, a LB and Goeddert during the game yesterday and could be back for our game (2 stingers and calf issue)

I don't buy the having their bags packed in at halftime, this is a national televised game and don't want to be embarrassed.

We'll need to play like we did against the Steelers.

Definitely agree, but there was a stripper incident, and I'd expect a coach to see if a player actually gives the team the best chance, or is going to be distracted on top of being a distraction.

A lot was given to him unearned but that is the society we live in. Us 40-60 year old fat guys on our couches raise these 19 year old athletes above us on this pedestal like some greek gods .. only to discard them into the trash heap once they dont benefit our Sunday viewing pleasure anymore.

I feel for the young man. His feelings right now and the weight on his shoulders is vastly more than any of us could even imagine.

We created Dwayne Haskins in many ways. College to professional sports is a factory and these young guys are just products on an assembly line with a limited useful shelf life before they are discarded and replaced.[/quote]

That being said, Haskins had plenty of opportunities. While I get he didn't get the best start here, he had plenty of chances to get himself straight. He didn't and his play got worst and has made dumb decisions on and or off the field.

All I will say is everyone saying Heineke should have started or put in at the start of the third....he throws an int on his first pass, you’d be complaining Ron should have kept Dwayne in and you’d be saying he should have given him the chance to “get hot” in the second half like vs Seattle. It’s just too easy to second guess as a fan, because you don’t have to make a decision or deal with the ramifications, you can just sit on your couch and say Ron should have done something different. I’m pretty’s sure Ron and Scott know that Dwayne sucks, but without Alex any choice is a really bad choice. And remember, this was a situation they inherited. And finally...too much coffee this morning....I blame Jabril Peppers for hurting Kyle Allen because I know he leg whipped him on purpose. 🤬

I'm sorry, I just can't (won't) fault the coaching staff for starting Haskins, whose been here for two years, with this staff all year, played "decently" in spots including last week against Seattle, over a QB who was a backup in the XFL, whom they signed less than three weeks ago to be their quarantine QB (break in case of emergency guy).

Maybe he's the next Kurt Warner I don't know, but there really was no decision with regard to last night's game.
