Agreed. I do think our defense had something to do with that though.
Yes. Our line applied pressure consistently. Tampa didn't. |

Re: The Sam Howell Thread
Carrying over from the other thread:
Keep drafting guys to find a QB. But also never actually play the QBs that were drafted. That doesn't match-up. You need to give the guys a chance to see if they are the answer or not. If he had a (1) next to his name instead of a (5) this wouldn't even be a conversation. |
Re: The Sam Howell Thread
Sam Howell 2020 at UNC:
68.1% completion rate 3586 passing yards 30 passing touchdowns 7 interceptions 146 rushing yards 5 rushing touchdowns 3,732 total yards 35 total touchdowns Finished 14th in NCAAF QBR Sam Howell 2021 at UNC: 62.5% completion rate 3056 passing yards 24 passing touchdowns 9 interceptions 828 rushing yards 11 rushing touchdowns 3884 total yards 35 total touchdowns Finished 21st in NCAAF QBR It's pretty crazy this dropped him from a pretty much guaranteed 1st round pick to a 5th rounder. Between the 2020 and 2021 seasons, Howell lost Javonte Williams, Dyami Brown, Dazz Newsome, and Michael Carter to the draft alone. That doesn't even include any O-lineman that started in 2020 that just didn't get drafted, but were still starters. Any QB that loses 4 NFL draft picks from their offense, is very likely going to have a dip in their stats. Especially when its not from a powerhouse that just replaces guys every year, like Bama, GA, OSU, etc. |
Re: The Sam Howell Thread
His wheels are very very underrated. I for one feel extremely fortunate that he is on our team and that we snagged him in the fifth. It will go down as an absolute steal one day.

Those numbers are absurd. That can't be the litmus test. |
Re: The Sam Howell Thread
UNC finished Top 10 in total yards in 2020 and 2021.
https://www.espn.com/college-football/stats/team/_/season/2021 Howell falling to the 5th for us was a lucky break. Not because every team was right 4 times. Every year, there are tons of players that go way later than they should. Curl and McLaurin being 2 examples just from our team. |

Caleb Williams will be but Maye top 5 for sure |

Maye will be a better NFL QB imo, but you could be right. I'll edit to he will be drafted in the Top 2. Those guys will go Top 2 in some order. |
Re: The Sam Howell Thread
They are both the type of guys you go all in for. Nothing like em this year.

So i say roll with Howell and if he sucks we get a high pick in 24 with a new HC |

Exactly dont reach this year when A) you might not have to we dont know yet B) 2024 is much more appealing Get the Oline rebuilt now for either Howell or a better option in FA or the draft in 24 |

Re: The Sam Howell Thread
I would take Sam right now with no proven Nfl experience OVER Dak and Russell and Cousins and Carr ( with what they would cost)!and the list goes on and on … if this Kid turns out good then we can spend the money to fill in the holes ..we gotta hope we found a gem in the fifth!!!
