re: Let's talk
Drinking a Shocktop Belgian White.
Eh. Its okay. People love Shock Top and I can't seem to get into it. Had the lemon shandy before this. 0/2 |
re: Let's talk
I had a Blue Moon Belgian White with the orange slice off the tap at a local sports bar on Thursday night, and it was delicious. The first time I tried Blue Moon off tap at Nats Park a couple months ago it tasted flat (no orange slice w/ that), but the one I got served at the bar was very crisp and delicious, and the drops of orange juice from the slice I put in there worked very well.
I also tried a Shocktop Lemon Shandy at that container joint on Half Street right before the centerfield entrance to Nats Park a few weeks ago, and it was not good. Had very little flavor to it, and it tasted slightly warm too. Maybe I should stop trying beers at/near Nats Park lol. Still gonna try their Belgian White eventually though. |

Just cracked one of these, wow, super tasty.

A new taproom opened recently in my town, 16 taps of craft brews. I've been in heaven. Here's a few of their recent beer boards.

re: Let's talk
Picked up a 4 pack of this tonight, almost choked when they rang it up at $20, I didn't realize it's also 15% alcohol. Definitely looking forward to trying one. This is supposed to be some legendary stuff.

Its dominated by bourbon flavors at first but seems to mellow as you drink more. defiantly a sipper. |

He got too ahead of himself with it and was feeling a little loopy in no time. LOL It's great stuff but definitely a sipper. I like how the flavors change as it warms up. |
re: Let's talk
Anybody has anything new that is good in Pale Ales lately? I had a couple forgetables in the IPAs lately. The market is so flooded.
Had to reach back for an old favorite recently : Lagunitas IPA - Lagunitas Brewing Company - Petaluma, CA - BeerAdvocate When it comes to big flavor with decent balance Lagunitas does their beers right. |
re: Let's talk
I don't think I've ever been let down by Lagunitas. They are top notch.
|
re: Let's talk
starr hill, the gift. delicious. starr hill just doesnt make bad beers.
|
re: Let's talk
i hate starr hill. i was at a concert over the summer and they were selling that piss for like $10 a beer and a buddy got one. I talked shit to him and the people serving that stuff for that price.

Lil sumpin ale or whatever it called is sooooooo good. I've started kegging my own beer now, and i gotta tell ya. It's the way to go. I just find a beer I love... look up the clone recipe- then tweak it myself. Boom- you've got an amazing beer. |
re: Let's talk
Last two microbrews I had were Sierra Nevada's Summerfest® and Flying Dog's UnderDog Atlantic Lager.
SummerFest is just a smooth drinking beer. Great summer time beer. Nice to see Sierra Nevada is still hitting it out of the park with their seasonals. UnderDog is the lightness of the lager and the bite of the IPA. Very tasty. Had it at home in cans (comes in bottles as well), and then grabbed a draft at a great sandwich shop in Frederick (a.k.a. Friscos | A Gathering Place for the Hungry). I really enjoyed it and glad it's a year-rounder for Flying Dog.
Frederick Represent! Have you done the Flying Dog brewery tour? I was out in Denver earlier this year and was asking about good micro-brews to tour in Denver. They suggested New Belgian, Great Divide, etc. Then they said something along the lines of, "yeah some corncob town out in Maryland stole Flying Dog from us." -Gotta love my hometown. Atlantic Lager is a perfect BBQ beer. Easy to drink, low ABV... has a nice flavor to it. Raging bitch is there best seller I think. |
re: Let's talk
If you get a chance, try one of Lagunitas' wet hopped beers. They essentially add freshly picked hops to the beer as opposed to the traditional dried out variety.
Hops are super prone to spoiling if they aren't immediately dried out, so they literally wait until the hops are on the truck straight from the farm and time the brew process to coincide perfectly with the delivery. Next time I'm out in California I've got to check them out. |

not really in this area. Yankee stadium, Merrieweather Post...yeah probably. |
re: Let's talk
@RobH4413 - Yessir, been on the tour a few times. I live right around the corner from the brewery. First time, my daughter was 6 months old and she and my wife accompanied me for my birthday.
Had 2 stouts recently that were quite tasty. Lancaster Brewing Milk Stout Southern Tier 2X Stout Prefer the Southern Tier one, but both were very tasty. |
re: Let's talk
Had another stout that blew my socks off, and will blows yours off too if you're not careful.
Kujo Imperial Coffee Stout | Flying Dog Brewery Quite tasty and at 8.9% ABV, it packs quite a punch. |

As of now the Alchemist is only brewing that one beer for the sake of perfecting IPAs apparently. And while they haven't perfected IPAs, it's still pretty good. |

Ithaca Brewing company makes great beer; New York has a lot of quality craft breweries. Governor Cuomo has made a point of investing in the industry. |
re: Let's talk
Had another good IPA last night, Sierra Nevada's Ruthless Rye. The rye gives it a nice little kick. Another quality brew from SN.

Last Night: Dogfish 90min IPA, Lagunitas IPA, Heineken, and shots of Jameson. And felt just fine this morning

Heady topper is considered one of the top ipas in the world. They lost there brewery in the hurricane a few years back and focused all their efforts on that beer. Surprised you were able to get it in new york they normally on distribute in parts of Vermont. |
re: Let's talk
Had yet another stout over the weekend:
» Marooned on Hog Island Very tasty, even drinking it out of the can. And while I used to be mass produced, I got a 6er of National Premium, which was the classier cousin of Natty Boh: National Premium It was good as well. Would make a great summer time beer. Drinks easily. |

I just picked up some Flower Power IPA, another good one. Plus a 4 pack of Sixpoint 3 beans. Sixpoint also has a tasty IPA, Bengali Tiger. |
re: Let's talk
Had an unreal beer the other day. Strongly recommend this one.
Unibroue | La Fin du Monde |
re: Let's talk
La Fin du Monde is quite good. Haven't had it in a while...might have to grab a bottle here soon.
Matty mentioned it earlier, but I picked up a 6er of Ruthless Rye-PA over the weekend. I thought it had more of a bite than last year's. |
re: Let's talk
Had some surly abrasive ale yesterday and it was fantastic. It was like sucking on hops. I think it is only available in MN though.

Got it from a beer store in Troy, which is only half an hour from Vermont; if I'm not mistaken the owner bought the beer there. Anyway, just got word that Troeg's Nugget Nectar is coming in this week. Can't wait! |
re: Let's talk
Another Eastern Shore brewery, http://www.burleyoak.com/ is making an impact on the Delmarva Peninsula and beyond.
No bottles or cans, just drafts and growlers thus far. Was very happy to see my local sandwich shop have a keg of Rude Boy on tap. An Imperial Red Ale that drinks very easy and made me realize that I hadn't had a good red ale until now. |
re: Let's talk
Later this month I am heading to a home brew comp. in Bmore. Couple of my co-workers are submitting beers in the comp. There are also 5 bands and (classic Baltimore) a burlesque show.

Where is this comp? Do you have any information on it? I have a few beers I could enter if the deadline isnt up. On a side not I just picked up a bottle of Brooklyn Black Ops and one of Goose Island Bourbon County Coffee Stout. Pretty excited about both of these. |
