re: New Games on the Horizon (the video game thread)
One of the trophies in this years' Madden will be based off this user video as seen below. I'm only posting this because I think this video is hilarious for some reason. And the guy talking sounds like Ray Lewis haha. Warning - the language is def. NSFW.

i think MW3 is going to be a damn good game, but i'm looking forward to Battlefield 3 more.

re: New Games on the Horizon (the video game thread)
I played MW2 like it was going out of style, but I'm going back to Battlefield 3 when it comes out. COD just looks exactly the same, it's all about story in it and they aren't improving on previous versions anymore. Battlefield 3 wins for me because destructible environments are the thing that puts it over the top.
I actually just repurchased COD4 Modern Warfare the other day for like $17. Still the best online shooter if you ask me. Seems since MW2 they've made it to complicated and I never really enjoyed the new maps. In other news I'm starting to consider buying Dead Island. My only concern is that it's one of those Farscape type vague stories where rather then make actual cut scenes the developers just decided to use voice overs in game to move the story along. [YT]pVzRo39P31I[/YT] Basically if like 99% of the story is told like this opening dialog then I'm going to downgrade it to a rental. Tired of developers skimping on stories then marketing it as "immersive." Silent Hill Downpour is also coming out as well as Uncharted 3. |
re: New Games on the Horizon (the video game thread)
I can't wait for Uncharted 3, probably my favorite gaming franchise of all time.

I got burned out on Black Ops a few months ago, tired of the same old, same old. COD needs to do something to shake things up, it's getting stale, though millions would probably disagree with me. Switched over to Battlefield Bad Co 2 and have been loving life. BF3 is going to be insane. Vehicles, huge maps, and destructible environments = win. |

Vehicles, huge maps, and destructible environments = win.
I bought Battlefield Bad Company way before I ever got on the COD train, and I played it for a while and then forgot about it. Then MW2 came along and I got hooked on that. Got Black Ops for X-mas last year and I barely played it for a couple months. Then I went back to Battlefield BC and that's been my fps of choice since. The combat is the same, if not better than COD, esp. with destructible buildings and such, the maps are better, there's more teamwork online and you get to drive cool vehicles, which will never happen online in COD. I'm sure we're in the minority here but Battlefield is constantly improving on itself whereas COD is content to keep throwing the same game out there, just set in different eras with different stories, and letting it sell like wildfire. |
re: New Games on the Horizon (the video game thread)
It's funny how people complain about Madden being the same game every year with new rosters, but to me COD is more guilty of pumping out the same game every year with only minor additions/improvements. And then they pump you for even more $$ with the map packs! COD doesn't innovate because they don't have to I guess. They can just keep putting out the same game and people eat it up like crack.
I think BF3 could steal some of COD's thunder, it looks amazing. Plus it's dropping a month before MW3. |

I remember sitting there thinking I spent 90 bucks total on a single game, and that I was completely retarded for doing it. I'll never do that again lol. For the hours I put into it, maybe that 90 bucks might've been worth it, but nowadays I just think about all the things I could've used that money for, like 4 months of a gym membership, or how that money could've been put towards my car maintenance, or just something better served. 90 for a game is not worth it. |

Game of the Year? Just saying... |
re: New Games on the Horizon (the video game thread)
Also anyone into old school style RPG's from the past like Zelda: A Link to the Past or Chrono Trigger who has an xbox or pc needs to do themselves a favor and download Bastion with a quickness.

re: New Games on the Horizon (the video game thread)
I've never really been one to complain about a franchise putting out virtually the same game. If it aint broke dont fix it. I enjoy what Madden and COD have been doing over the years and they have kept me entertained.
RedskinRat, Skyrim looks awesome. definitely will be playing it. as for cod4, thats my favorite game of all time. it just sucks to see the hackers in every public lobby, i wish they would take care of their product a little more as far as that goes. but i would bet my bottom dollar i could mop the floor with any of you in cod4 ^_^ |
re: New Games on the Horizon (the video game thread)
random thoughts: Battlefield 3 will be amazing, Fallout: New Vegas has been fun

The one negative is I hate, hate fighter jet sims. Hopefully that is not a big part of the game. |

LOL.....helicopters below tree top level......whatever.....

re: New Games on the Horizon (the video game thread)
I was lucky enough get an invite for the Alpha test on PC and yes this game IS going to be insane. I love BFBC2, and can not wait for this release. It is somewhat different but in a good way from what I could tell. I wish I could have played more, I will just have to wait until the Beta to play, which was the main reason I bought MoH to begin with.
Anybody plan on playing on PC? My rig is not the greatest but did handle it well and 32v.32 has me leaning away from consoel on this one. |

Based on how they do things I would guess not all maps will feature the jets. |

Dear COD,
I'm sorry, it's not you, it's me. I just want more. Sure, we had some good times. But times change, and so do people. Peace, - Mooby |

it is funny how a lot of yo uguys are dumping on COD when a lot of the stuff yo uare looking for is in Halo. Halo is a great game, a lot more challenging then COD.

Halo blows. Sorry it just does.
Thanks but I already found what I was looking for.... Battlefield is where it's at. |

Nothing frustrating about it, just not into the sci-fi type of shooter. I've really tried to like it, just not my bag.

Anybody up for an arousing game of Pac-Man? Anybody?

i have never played the campaign none of them, I have no idea about the story line. But the multiplayer is pretty spot on and offers IMO a real challenge. not to say COD is a walk in the park. I am with you on the SCI-FI crap as well. |

Haven't run into those yet, but it's nice to at least get an answer. All the COD4 Hack searches on Google led me to how to sites. As for Battlefield 3. No one should be surprised. EA gave Dice studios a huge budget for a modern FPS and basically said "beat Modern Warfare." EA Battlefield 3 marketing budget set to blow COD out of the water | Battlefield 3 Today
The reported budget for the Battlefield 3 marketing/advertising campaign is $100 million, which sounds like a huge amount but taken into perspective it’s going to take some serious backing to knock Call of Duty of the top spot.
Keep in mind sales of MW2 were $400 million on the first day alone so $100 million marketing budget is nothing in light of the big picture. Be curious to see what they were spending on actual production. Though if MW2 is any indication it's about half the marketing budget. Nah. I'm all about military fps, not alien fps. I tried to like it, but again, military > alien. |
