Entertaining Dysfunction > Boring Dysfunction |
Re: All things NFL Offseason 2019.
What year did they start doing the single cut from 90 to 53? I'm not sure if I noticed it in 2017 with the Bucs but I definitely noticed it last year with the Browns.
2018 was the most boring season of Hard Knocks that I can remember but I'm really looking forward to this season, mostly to see Mark Davis' haircut. |

99% Of Cowboys fans will be pissed if Dak gets that kind of $
|
Re: All things NFL Offseason 2019.
I'm guessing Dak will get a deal that will put him among the top paid QB's. It's not that anyone thinks he's the best in the league but he falls into that good enough category. Cowboys will cash-strap themselves by resigning him to a 5 year, $152M contract. $26M in year 1, moving up towards $35M in year 5. Could tack on some incentives for probowls and superbowls etc. and a 6th year mutual option for $40M. All just a guess but I think I'm going to be close. With the way QB salaries are going, if he's a top 6 QB in 6 years, they'll be happy to pay him $40M. Otherwise, they can choose not to pick up the option but it gives him and his agent a $190M, 6 year contract to talk about and look like they won out big. Hoping that he gets it, then does a whole bunch of nothing for 5-6 years setting the team back for the next decade.

Re: All things NFL Offseason 2019.
Mentioned on Colin Cowherd the other day that allowing coaches to challenge pass interference calls or non calls will create an issue with Hail Mary plays.
Typically the referees rarely call P.I. on them unless somebody gets tackled while the ball is in the air. What are they going to do now? |

Hail Marys aren’t going to be called any different, I don’t know why some think this is an issue

I hope they continue to let that be a basic free for all except in the most egregious cases, but it won't shock me if the first hail mary that is successful isn't booth reviewed as offensive pass interference. |

We shall see. I understand the referees swallowing their whistle on Hail Marys. The same as NBA ref do on inbound plays in the paint during the final seconds of a tight game. I venture if the NBA started reviewing foul calls there would be issues with the way those situations are called. |

My condolences to his family and friends though, 38 is way too young. |

This drives me insane. Insane actually isn't even the word. Irrationally angry maybe?
Josh Norman runs with the bulls in Pamplona today. Video shows him leaping over the bull, more than once. One of our highest paid players at one of the most important positions on the field, knowingly taking part in an activity where the risk of injury is clear and evident. This harkens to when Casey Rabach sliced his leg open during an accident sustained while riding his ATV. He was a center taking up only a couple million of cap space, and it still drove me nuts. But this enrages me. The stupidity of this is astounding. His contract isn't even guaranteed this year. He's lucky he's physically fine. What a grade A dumbass. I wouldn’t worry about it...I’m sure the team will do the right thing, trot out Doug Williams with a unprepared statement which will be most likely rambling and Doug will have to apologize later for...

If it was the truth or newsworthy, it would have been verified/followed up by some of the other more credible Redskins reporters in the area, which it hasn't. This is pretty similar to the story that was blown out of proportion where the Junkies "reported" that Jay Gruden didn't know and wasn't involved in the free agency process, which wasn't the case. Craig Hoffman even went on the Redskins Talk Podcast and said that the story was misreported by 106.7. I'm never going to defend the dysfunction that happens within the team, but I'm just tired of these news personalities being over dramatic and having people take their opinions as news. |
Re: All things NFL Offseason 2019.
What's dumb about the whole thing is that employees on the business side have zero impact on the team's chances of winning or losing.
