Riggins is obviously his own man, but it makes you wonder how many other former players feel the same way.

I don't remember him complaining when they were the WFT, maybe I missed that.

Some people just want attention. I'm so sick of this bitching and moaning about the name change. Get over it people.

Well he has a point he never played for the Commanders. May as well start selling Commanders Jerseys with Marino's or Mean Joe Greene's (or any other HOF player) name on a Commanders Jersey if they are going to do that.

Did the Ravens sell Jerseys of Jim Brown before Cleveland started a team again? Do the Titans sell Warren Moon or Earl Campbell jerseys?

I think that's apples and oranges.

It's still the same franchise, whether it was the Braves, Redskins, Football Team, or the Commanders.

The point is that no other team is dealing/has dealt with a situation like Washingtons. The team has not relocated, and the name change was essentially forced. I would have preferred that maybe they just offered some throwback like jerseys for the legends (i.e. no logos) but I can't fault them for trying to tie in some legends to this new brand.
I wanted to comment on this but waited... When Doug became the 1st black QB to win a SB it was a big deal back in 1987. A big deal. As a black man myself that played QB I had tears in my eyes when that game was over. I knew how important Doug was to a lot of people in DC even though his career here was short.

This organization through the years has used him as a pawn. They always trot him out there for PR things or to make the organization look good, but what is his role at this point? Has he ever had a prominent role in the organization? Not really. When they need him to make them look good here comes Doug. It's sad if you ask me. They know Doug's untouchable in this town and they use him because of it.

He was demoted when Ron was hired. Why? Dan could have given him the GM job many times but didn't. Instead he had Bruce Allen? Vinny Cerrato? A overrated drunk? SMH And that crap last week on Today was just awkward and sad.

As far as Wright is concerned, I'm happy when black men and women get a shot in a position of power in the NFL. However part of his job is to take the heat for the owners. I'm not buying that Jason is stupid enough to put that fucked up looking patch out there. Or those crappy uniforms. I would be willing to bet that is mostly Tayna. I doubt Dan would got that far away from the uniforms. Jason has to take the heat for that.

The over under on Jason imo is 3 years and I am taking the under. He's playing w/ snakes. And yes, Doug, Jason and Allen all tow the company line. They're all company men because that is what they get paid to do.
Well said.
Snyder clearly has no problem milking the legacy of Redskins greats.
I’m tired of seeing Doug and Joe Gibbs trotted out to validate some new bullshit.

I suspect that Riggins is also tired of this bullshit.

Heck this surprises you? Retiring the name in the first place was throwing the fans and even Native American(91%) wishes under the bus.

The biggest slap in the face is they wouldn’t spend a little cash for a name they actually wanted.

Dan is the cheapest fuck.

He may well have been telling the truth at that moment in time. Then Dan grabbed the reins and began doing what he always does.

Jason Wright is learning what everyone who works for Snyder has learned: You are basically nothing more than a prop. Danny makes all the decisions and they are all bad. Hopefully, JW is already planning his next move lest he end up like Vinny or Bruce.

Difference is Vinny and Bruce had total control over football and business ops. Jason knows he runs business ops only.

The thing that bugs me about the new W helmet logo is how generic it is. Like Commanders is so generic there isn't a single image they could find that would adequately represent the name. And the W has no flair to it at all - it's just a basic W. I think it definitely needs improvement.

Re: Welcome your Washington Commanders

Personally I'd have used a stylised C logo if it could be gotten away with, like this:https://image.shutterstock.com/shutterstock/photos/474916537/display_1500/stock-vector-retro-sport-style-alphabet-letter-c-for-logo-titles-monogram-metal-with-bold-outline-font-474916537.jpg

But I suppose there's the Bears with a C logo so that would be out. Maybe it is just a matter of getting used to the new name etc.

Yes, but ultimately Danny has control over everything. Neither Vinny nor Brucie ever made a move that was not approved by Danny.

But they both made a bundle. Good work if you find it. And be wiling to sell your soul and wreck your reputation.

it's crazy that some of the these done by fans are miles and miles better than what the team did. I have seen some that are outstanding and this is one of them.

If you put some mustard pants on these they are among the best in the league.

NFL rule apparently, though I hadn't heard of it until lately. As "Commanders" is on the uniform we are stuck with that too .

The NFL has a rule that one a team changes uniforms they cant change them again for 5 years.

With that said I'm curious of what Jason Wright has said about getting another version in 2024 with the fans help. Did the NFL make an exception or is he full of shit and trying to quell the crybabies who are bitching they didn't have any say? I'm guessing the latter.

I didn’t know that. I am pretty sure the Ravens changed theirs within 5 years although there was trademark litigation going on at the time re the original shield logo with the flying “B”.

Wait, I thought the NFL didn't allow them to ?

EDIT: OMG they're even more incompetent than I thought:

Just indicative that any real fan saw the discrepancy right away. The name, the logo and the crest reek of design by commitee, which is the norm these days, and a commitee of marketing men who were focused more on the 'look' rather than accuracy

I would just love to know what person or persons thought putting 83, 88 and 92 on that patch was a good idea. Who actually believed that would fly? They need a quality control person in management.

Jason Wright can go pound fucking rocks. Dan and Tayna can go on their mega boat ( I hope the Somolian pirates bum rush it) to France. Just one day get as far away from this franchise as you possibly can.
