First Ballot Hall of Famers
What active players do you think, if their careers ended today, would be first ballot Hall of Famers?
Off the top of my head I'd say: Brett Favre Peyton Manning Tom Brady (wavered a lot on Brady and Manning) Ray Lewis Marvin Harrison I know there must be more. What do you guys think? |
Re: First Ballot Hall of Famers
Curtis Martin is the only other one I would add to your list
|
Re: First Ballot Hall of Famers
Marshall Faulk
|
Re: First Ballot Hall of Famers
Well see if you put Martin then are you saying you'd put Faulk in also? Because I'd put Faulk in before Martin.
I think for me the hardest part is determining how long a career the guy has to have be Hall eligible. |
Re: First Ballot Hall of Famers
Larry Allen
|
Re: First Ballot Hall of Famers
Faulk is no question hands down. They were going through his numbers on NFL live today and they are rediculous. Theres no way the guy shouldnt be in first ballot.
McNair should be up there, althogh I dont know about first ballot There really arent a lot of guys you can point to and say absolutley. I'm not sure how his all time numbers rank, but maybe Issac Bruce? |

You can make a strong case for him, but then you'd have also have one for Torry Holt, Rod Smith, the recently retired Jimmy Smith, and how does Bruce get in before Andre Reed, and of course Art? |
Re: First Ballot Hall of Famers
tafkas, you have made me rethink my position on faulk as a first ballot HOF'er. i didnt realize that he has over 12,000 yrds rushing and 100 rushing tds, not to mention all of his receivingstats, curtis martin has over 14,000 yrds rushing but not nearly as many receiving yrds(only 10 less rushing tds). i can see them both as first ballot HOF'ers.
Larry Allen
i was trying to think of any o-lineman that were worthy and allen was the only one i could think of also. its kinda hard to put an o-lineman in first ballot though.

Sapp or Strahan? I was trying to think of DL and thats who I come up with.
Sapp or Strahan? I was trying to think of DL and thats who I come up with.
maybe eventually but not first ballot. i can see strahan getting in first ballot with 2 or 3 more good seasons but not as it stands now

Re: First Ballot Hall of Famers
How about Tony Gonzalez?
Warren Sapp Michael Strahan Junior Seau (he may actually be retired now) Drew Bledsoe Simeon Rice TO? Randy Moss? I can't remember offensive linemen. |
Re: First Ballot Hall of Famers
I think Strahan is a first ballot. Don't forget Strahan has the single season sack record (wink, wink) and the power of Peter King.
