We needed to romp in this game
Can't recall the last skins game I could watch in such a relaxed manner. The way we started on offense, I wasn't even worried when San Fran scored their first TD to make it 14-7.
4-2 is a good record leading into our brutal next third of the season. Positives from this game. 1. Dominant performance lifts the stigma on the low-scoring offense. 2. Brunell developing better rapport with Patten and Cooley 3. Portis gains confidence 4. Starters on both offense and defense rested for most of the second half. 5. D caused 2 turnovers. 6. Great special teams play. 7. Lavar working his way back in with some good plays. 8. Mike Sellers is a TD monster - most underrated FB in the league. Negatives (not many, but you can always whine about something) 1. Both 49er TDs come on big plays. Let's enjoy this week. |

Re: We needed to romp in this game
Also, I really think we can take the Giants. Their defense flat out blows. If we can stop them on the offensive side of the ball, we'll be all good.

Re: We needed to romp in this game
i agree with tmc, we are looking good heading into the giants game next week.

I agree in that on paper, we're better than the Giants. However, we're playing at the meadowlands, and that Giants offense is strong...anything could happen. Regardless, we should be more than competitive in that game. |
Re: We needed to romp in this game
I'm confident that we can hold our own against any team and have all the tools necessary to beat the Giants. If we can win the turnover battle again, we should win the game. I'm so happy right now, I can't quite look ahead to next week yet. This was the first week I didn't have to throw my hat at the TV.

Unbelievable how even the teams are in the NFC East. One fumble, one call can decide anything. |
Re: We needed to romp in this game
Damn the Eagle's are the luckiest team in the world!!!!

Re: We needed to romp in this game
Life is good right now!!! Ya think 7 tackles will keep Lavar in for next week? Let's hope!!!

Re: We needed to romp in this game
giants offense isn't that strong, dallas held them to 13 points... and the original poster forgot to mention we got FIVE sacks.

Re: We needed to romp in this game
We truly did exactly what you said we needed to do. (ROMP) It's good to see us have such a decisive win for a change. No nail biting, or game resting on the last play.
While we dominated the game in all three phases, I'm still a little concerned about the big plays in the run defense. The last four games, going back to the game with Seattle we have given up big plays. I am however pleased with the play of the ST's despite the short kickoffs', and the offense overall. Brunell's QB rating is off the charts, and I just hope we can get another streak going. |
Re: We needed to romp in this game
After the Giants game last year is when we really picked it up. I hope we keep this going. Man it was good to see LaVar plaing great.

Re: We needed to romp in this game
Just on the subject of LaVar, I thought he played VERY disciplined football today.

Re: We needed to romp in this game
It was great seeing our starters resting on the bench in the fourth quarter. The Giants won, but Eli was taking a lot of hits. I saw him holding his knee and Plexico favoring his collar bone.
