New Games on the Horizon (the video game thread)

Any body get Bio Shock 2 yet? I am itching to play that one.

[ame="http://www.amazon.com/Bioshock-2-Xbox-360/dp/B0016BVYA2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1265986514&sr=1-1"]Amazon.com: Bioshock 2: Xbox 360: Video Games[/ame]

Also I want to play this Heavy Rain that is coming out for PS3.

[ame="http://www.amazon.com/Heavy-Rain-Playstation-3/dp/B002CZ38KA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1265986436&sr=8-1"]Amazon.com: Heavy Rain: Playstation 3: Video Games[/ame]

This looks good as well.

[ame="http://www.amazon.com/Dantes-Inferno-Divine-Playstation-3/dp/B001NX6GBK/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1265986436&sr=8-2"]Amazon.com: Dante's Inferno Divine Edition: Playstation 3: Video Games[/ame]

I will get each of them in the next few months, for a couple of reasons one I don't pay $60 for a game (nothing depreciates faster then a video game) and second I want to hit prestige in MW2 (at level 69 currently) and play thorough Uncharted 2.

You guys know of anything else cool coming out?

I could never get in to the first Bioshock. Amazing graphics and an original story but just not my cup of tea I guess.

I'm looking forward to the new Splinter Cell

Crackdown 2 should be good too

re: New Games on the Horizon (the video game thread)

I got Bioshock 2 for PS3 on Tuesday and I think I'm about half-way through the single player game already. It's pretty good, but a lot like the first one so far only I don't know that the storyline is quite as good (to be fair I thought the first game's plot was amazing).
Being able to use weapons and plasmids at the same time is pretty cool. In fact, I think the options for the weapons in general are a lot better than the first game, as is the research aspect. They also cut down the amount of first aid kits and eve hypos you can carry, so you don't feel as indestructible as you did in the first game, which I like.

I tried out the multi-player mode and I was not impressed at all. It seemed really glitchy and it would freeze up a lot. Maybe I just need to give it more time.

I hate when they throw in a multiplayer just for the hell of it. NOT every game needs a multiplayer, they did it with Uncharted Two as well, just stupid.

I like to be just behind the curve with new games.

While teenager X is playing Bioshock 2 for $60 I am enjoying his used copy of Batman for $30. When he moves on from BS2 Iwill play that for $30 as well. It is a good system, I think.

Very few games do I buy on release day.

Yeah no sense in paying $60 if you don't mind waiting a few months. There's only a handful of titles I'll buy right away otherwise I wait and buy it used.

I'm also really looking forward to God Of War III. I loved the first two on PS2 so I'm hoping they really go all out with the PS3.

I saw that as well, yet to see a Western movie type game that is good but this could be a first.

Batman is really good definetly worth a rental at least.

Just finished Mass Effect 2 and have to say I was suprised at how good it was. ME1 was good but didn't leaving me wanting for a sequel. Just figured I would try it out and glad I did ME2 > ME1.

Dante's Inferno is sitting in the mailbox and I can update in a few days.

I Gamefly everything so when I am tired of it it goes back and if I want to keep it I am still payin gless than I would in the store in most cases.

re: New Games on the Horizon (the video game thread)

^ Still think buying used then reselling is the cheaper path but more work then Gamefly. I have literally been paid to play games. I bought LittleBigPlanet for like $25 and sold it a month later for like $32. I KEEP no games, I have a paypal account just for buying used games I rarely have to put money into. It goes down when I buy then replenishes when I sell. Nice little system and it keeps the wife off my back for buying to many damn video games. =)

Yeah don't do it at the brick and mortar places though

they'll give you 15 or 20 and sell it at 50

yeah Gamefly didn't have an east coast distribution spot for the longest time, they started coming closer a couple of years ago I think

they still have a small amount I believe and I think that I read that netflix has over 100 distro spots

Netflix has a distribution center in Albany and another one nearby in MA. so I usually have a very quick turnaround. I could drop a movie in the mail on a Monday and have a new one back by Wednesday.

Ok help me prove a theory of mine. How long have you been a member, just counting your current membership, don't count when you use to belong then quit then joined again, if you did that.

This.

The only move I had a wait on so far was "Wild Hogs" and they shipped me that (from another distribution center) and my next movie "Taken", so I have two out for the price of one.

Gamefly is much slower and takes more strategy to get games on release day.

So a year, hmm that kinda blows my theory. I always think new members and free trail members get first debs so they get sucked in. I have no idea it is all a mystery.

I have been a member for like five or six years. I do heart the instant watch. I watched Sssssss the other night great 70's horror flick that I would have never watched if not for instant.

A game that really slipped under the radar is Bayonetta. One of the weirdest, coolest, twistedly beautiful games I've ever played. In the game you control a 10 foot tall witch who uses her hair to summon demons, has shotguns attached to her stilettos, can turn into a bat, crow, and leopard, and hunts angels and giant floating baby heads for a living. While the crazy Japanese imagery is pretty incredible, what really makes the game work is its combat system. Using only two attack buttons and dodge, it is stunning the combos you are stringing together by the end of the game. If you like games like God of War or Devil May Cry, this is one to check out.

Why not Mass Effect 2? I'm starting that this afternoon. If you haven't played the first one (and you really should before playing 2, as 2 imports your save file and adjusts the plot according to the choices you made in 1) you can get it for 20 bucks. People are already calling 2 a GOTY contender.

There's an expansion pack for Dragon Age coming on next month on the 16th call Dragon Age: Awakening

My most anticipated games the next 3 months would be God of War 3, Final Fantasy XIII, Alan Wake, and as I've mentioned on the Modern Warfare 2 thread, I'm all about some Battlefield Bad Company 2.

I'm also on board with wanting Crackdown 2 (got the first one for the Halo 3 beta and wound up loving the game so much I never got rid of it) and Splinter Cell: Conviction which I've had ordered for over 2 years thanks to all of it's delays.

Maybe we have, I don't remember. I do work there, but I read online every day how much some people vehemently hate us so they all kind of blend together after a while. I honestly just like learning from the legitimate controllable mistakes of others as a tool for making sure my store doesn't make similar mistakes because talking about and selling video games for a living is as fun as it sounds 95% of the time.
