ST's Number

Anyone have a guess at what number Taylor will get??? I am hoping he will take 42 since it was Lott's and he is compared to him so much. Then we would have the next Lott in Taylor and with LaVar movin back weakside hopefully the next LT!!!!!

Cush 04-25-2004 06:50 PM

how about 45? (combine '04 Draft, 5th Pick)

Gmanc711 04-25-2004 07:19 PM

Does anyone on our team have 27?

skinsfanthru&thru 04-25-2004 07:26 PM

maybe skinsncanes knows if he had another # in hs or something. or maybe do something like kevin jones did when he changed his # from 7 to 25 not only cuz of it adding up to 7 but i think it also had to do with his high school coaches' son, who was sick or had died, having that #.
how about 45? (combine '04 Draft, 5th Pick)
Sellers is 45

PSUskinsfan11 04-25-2004 07:39 PM

no one is 27 that could be an option....close to 26 and steve atwater's number who was a great safety

PSUskinsfan11 04-25-2004 07:48 PM

he was 1 in high school

Dave Butz Baby! 04-25-2004 07:59 PM

I like the idea of him getting #42.

Darock 04-25-2004 08:36 PM

I like 22....double deuce baby!!

Gmanc711 04-25-2004 10:17 PM

I actually thought Atwater when I made the comment. He was a awsome hitter.

PSUskinsfan11 04-26-2004 11:49 AM

sounds like he has number 1 at the news conference

MTK 04-26-2004 12:07 PM

Said he didn't care about the #, said there are plenty of other ones out there

SKINSnCANES 04-26-2004 12:15 PM

Id love for him to get 22, thats my favorite number. Id buy his authentic jersey the day it came out if he gets 22. But Sultan has the number, for whatever that matters if hes a practice squad guy. I wonder if Iffy is going to give CP his number now.

huntz 04-26-2004 12:17 PM

Charley Taylor was the last Redskin to wear #42. So, don't look for it to happen.

redwagonskins 04-26-2004 12:19 PM

Wasn't Alvin Walton #40? I loved that guy. He had the mohawk haircut in the super bowl and could knock people pretty well.

huntz 04-26-2004 12:29 PM

Walton was 40, but Rock's got that number now.

Gmanc711 04-26-2004 12:48 PM

Gibbs said " Number 1 for a number 1 pick" If Sean Taylor is #1, I'll buy that Jersey the day its released, because #1 Jerseys are awsome.

SKINSnCANES 04-26-2004 12:54 PM

I didnt think he was allowed to wear number one. Thatd be cool if he could though. I dont really care for the rule that much, if a dlinemen wants to wear number 14 then by all means please do. Imagine seeing a big guy like C.Griffin with a signle digit on his back, might look weird but whatever.

SmootSmack 04-26-2004 01:02 PM

Isn't that just the standard jersey number they display at most press conferences?

SKINSnCANES 04-26-2004 01:04 PM

yea everyone gets number 1 at a conference or when you are drafted. But for some reason I recall them giving Portis a 26 jersey, which is why i didnt understand all the number confusion at first. Anyone else remember the Portis conference?

Gmanc711 04-26-2004 01:23 PM

Yeah, he had a #26 Jersey at the Press Conference. I'm pretty sure Brunell got #8 too. I think the #1 thing is only for when your drafted.

Sammy Baugh Fan 04-26-2004 01:34 PM

He can have any number except #33.

lol
ok maybe 44 and 9 too

peace

cpayne5 04-26-2004 01:37 PM

I sure am glad Smoot wears #21, so we can all forget the other CB that wore that number.

Skins fan 44 04-26-2004 01:43 PM

What other CB? What is his name? lol

BossHog 04-26-2004 01:47 PM

I have him wearing #42 on Madden 2004. Though it's unlikely if Charlie Taylor wore it. Hey, Eli "CryBaby" Manning bought his #10 jersey from Feagles, will Sean Taylor do the same? I hope not. I hated when Karl Malone said he would wear #32 for the Lakers. What a 'slap in the face', even if Magic OK'd it.

SkinsRock 04-26-2004 02:04 PM

Don't forget #28 is off limits too!

he said that? i remember magic offering the number for malone to wear when he signed but malone instead choose to go with #11.

jdlea 04-26-2004 05:05 PM

29! Restore the dignity to that number after it was stripped with the benching of Sam Shade. Shade was a beast. I'll spare all of you the Sam Shade for Hall of Fame rant...most of you that have been around for a while know it by now. Anyway, I loved Sam Shade when he was here. What a hitter! He was a great safety for the Skins. A little suspect against the pass, but he stop the run and if you went over the middle he would let you know it was his territory. Sam Shade was a great safety and I'd love to see Sean Taylor rock number 29 on the field this season.

MTK 04-26-2004 05:56 PM

Shade was a great safety? Guess we'll have to agree to disagree. He was an average safety at best in my book, good in run support but very suspect in coverage.

SmootSmack 04-26-2004 06:15 PM

I liked Shade and it was too bad that his career had to end with that neck injury. That being said, when I think Redskins #29 I don't think Sam Shade, I think of hard-hitting Super Bowl winning free safety Mark Murphy. I think Sean Taylor would do Murph proud wearing his old number

Phinehas 04-26-2004 06:19 PM

And a 9 is just an upside-down 6. :)

PSUskinsfan11 04-26-2004 06:39 PM

Franz has 29

SmootSmack 04-26-2004 06:41 PM
Franz has 29
good call, forgot about that

Jamaican'Skin 04-26-2004 07:17 PM

I'd like to see him wearing #1.
