Iffy

Not that it really matters but Ifeanyi Ohalete wasnt on the Redskins.com poll on who will get the most interceptions next year, Walt Harris was even on there.

MTK 04-26-2004 03:32 PM

Kinda hard to get picks when you're on the bench

:silly:

Where is Ade Jimoh?

Everyone is hating on him like he stole something. No one is guaranteed anything and Iffy will have to prove he deserves a roster spot just like everyone else.

Carnage 04-26-2004 04:49 PM

Portis is probable laughling about that whole number thing now.

Defensewins 04-26-2004 04:52 PM

Iffy has a good chance to beat out Bowen. Bowen does not impress me very much. I always thought Iffy played better last year than Bowen. Bowen's contract might make him the starter at first, but Iffy should work his way in front of Bowen as the year goes.

SKINSnCANES 04-26-2004 05:00 PM

I think Iffy looked a little better, but Bowen will play better when moved to SS where he can knock people around and not have to try to ball hawk as much.

jdlea 04-26-2004 05:08 PM

Iffy did play better than Bowen, but I don't think that says much. Niether of them played very well. I'm not a big fan of either of them. Especially not Ohelete. I think we should cut Iffy for the fuss he caused about a number that will never this season and let Bowen start until we find someone better.

Defensewins 04-26-2004 05:13 PM

I disagree, Iffy will be a good special teams player. He is physically gifted. He will be a good back up at safety as well. Plus he is cheap. Cutting a serviceable player over the #26 jersey issue is a waste. We do not have anyone good to take his place.

Daseal 04-26-2004 05:26 PM

Exactly. Portis and Taylor should shut their holes and realize that there's a line for that number. Seniority should mean something.

Skins26 04-26-2004 05:34 PM

Iffy probably wasnt on that list b/c they are going by who will start according to salary. Iffy will have a shot to beat out Bowen in camp and I think he will. Iffy is better in both coverage and run support.
Portis and Taylor should shut their holes and realize that there's a line for that number. Seniority should mean something.
Taylor didnt say anything about it, the guy asked him about the # and he said its no big deal he'll change.

MTK 04-26-2004 05:35 PM

Neither Bowen or Iffy are anything special or else we wouldn't have taken Taylor.

Daseal 04-26-2004 05:36 PM

Yeah, well. I wasn't going on facts, skins26! However I think Portis needs to sit down. He still has a lot to prove in the NFL. There is definitly a chance he's a product of the system in Denver. I personally love the Portis acquisition, but I think before he complains needs to rush for 1600 yards in a new jersey!

MTK 04-26-2004 05:54 PM

Portis has proved more in the NFL than Iffy has that's for sure.

The whole number arugment has been blown out of proportion anyway. Portis wanted it, Iffy isn't giving it up, Portis joked around about boxing him for it, etc. It's not like Portis is pouting over it, and Taylor today said the number is no big deal and he'll find another one.

Seems the only people making a big deal out of it is the fans.

saden1 04-26-2004 06:38 PM

The only number that should matter to a player is the number of digits in his contract. Everything else should be a mute point.

SmootSmack 04-26-2004 06:47 PM

The only number that should matter is the number of W's for his team

Jamaican'Skin 04-26-2004 07:07 PM

Gibbs wants blue- collar workers for his team. If Iffy proves to be one of these types, then he will play, but if he doesn't he'll probably be outta here.

offiss 04-27-2004 03:18 AM

The problem with the # issue is portis has put up hall of fame number's so far, and want's his carreer to identify with 1 #, which is not a horrible thing to ask, then you have Iffy, who is iffy, and may not even start, looking at portis as if the # is significant to his soon to be hall of fame carreer, as if people really identify him with that #, when he may not even start, personally if I am a player who is struggling to maybe stay in the starting lineup I don't think I want to tick people off by sticking with a # that is really insignificant to my carreer, unless Iffy feel's he has some pro bowl's in front of him, and possible hall of fame credential's, he should take the money and run. He obviously doesn't have to, but he's setting himself up for some petty sniping if he doesn't, as for taylor he has no time in the NFL with a particular #, what ever # he take's he will make synominous with his name.

kingerock 04-27-2004 05:12 AM

I personally like Iffy more than Bowen. He has made a few big plays as a Redskins where Bowen is just another guy on the roster to me. I hope he gets some playing time in pass defense schemes and put Bowen in when we put 8 in the box to do some snot knockin'.

Since we are talking numbers...

Since we are talking numbers, why not have a simple poll vote. Which player should receive #26? I see it as Iffy's to keep or give away. His choice.

Daseal 04-27-2004 08:29 AM

Offiss you make a valid point, but I don't think two years into a career you should be thinking about the Hall of Fame. Art Monk anyone?

I agree with you, but let's face it you know how most of these guy's are, marketability, and recognition are big thing's to them, it's the way of the high pro file player, I also do believe that the NFL like's a player to be easily identified with a certain #, they all make a lot of money on appareal right's.

Here you go... it was started right after Taylor was selected...
