Video Of SB National Anthem
I was hoping that someone had a link or something that had the singing of the National Anthem at yesterdays SB. My wife just can't believe me on how bad it was and I wanted her to see for herself. Thanks for any help.

All copies have been BURNED!
lol Sorry I'm no help I know |
Re: Video Of SB National Anthem
I didn't listen to it, but that fat piece of shit Peter King said it was the second-best ever to only Whitney Houston's, so I am inclined to believe that it was horrible.

It was undoubtedly the worst performance of the National Anthem I have ever heard. It was honestly embarassing. Both Neville and Aretha can sing but what they did to that song was just plain bad. To mention it positively in the same breath as Whitney Houston's SB rendition is about as blasphemous as one can get about such a subject. |
Re: Video Of SB National Anthem
Don't even look for it, you will cringe.

Re: Video Of SB National Anthem
When we saw that National Anthem, we couldn't believe how good it was. To me, it was the most melodious and creative rendition I have ever seen. Usually it is sung without passion or depth, and in the same general, mediocre way. Aretha Franklin and John Neville with Dr John I think are to be commended for daring to try something new, and to pull it off in a superb way.

Re: Video Of SB National Anthem
When i first saw this thread i thought you were gonna say how good you thought it was...i was about to kill somebody. This was one of the worst national anthems i've ever heard. It didn't sound anything like it at all. If anybody thinks that was good, they are retarded. It was almost as bad as when that girl forgot the words to the national anthem before some basketball game

There's a big difference between a little girl that's probably terrified to be in such a large arena with so many people starring at her and a professional singer. What Mo Cheeks (I think!) did was one of the best things Ive seen a pro-sports coach do. Made one of that girls worst days much much better. |

the three words you've always wanted me to say to you...You're Right Daseal |
Re: Video Of SB National Anthem
it's too bad the choir in the background was unable to drown out the noise coming from AF and AN. :Flush:

that girl was a much better singer than what i heard in the SB to boot. |
Re: Video Of SB National Anthem
I thought it was a totally original version done by New Orleans natives. I think it was botched by the sound crew. If ya think about it the beginning was mixed terribly. The song was meant to be a solemn piece with reverence to New Orleans. The sound the entire game was whack. Think about the trophy presentation at the end. Thought I was listening from the parking lot! I was cable in front of new tv! I have to defend Aaron Neville, Dr John and Aretha, it was sad tune and it was our national anthem. Was a great effort and the sound crew flubbed it. I could also notice the Rolling Stones having difficulties. People like to sensationalize and jump on non-normal bashing bandwagons, but let's all remember this is the USA and let's look deeper than a whiplash Monday morning talkshow topic. Besides, we got the Redskins here and they gonna win it all this year!!!

Absolutley. Mo Cheeks earned a hell of alot of respect, and it was nice to see sports fans (for once), not act like idiots as they all seemed to be helping the girl along as well. |

the crew sucked, but so did the performers. I've heard bad sound before and been able to ferret out the actual talent behind bad production. This wasn't the case here. |

Dude, which National Anthem were you watching? It was flat out bad! |
Re: Video Of SB National Anthem
Sense I started this threed I guess I have to give my 2cents worth. I heard it live while driving to a SB party and it sounded alot worse over the radio. I have mixed sound in my past and will have to say that alot of blame has to go to the sound crew. I'm not saying that AF and JN did the great job on the anthem but I feel its hard to tell with the poor sound mix. To me it sounded like a cheap church PA system and I hope the NFL never has that crew mix sound for any more of their events.

I think radio had a direct feed from the sound board which will sound different because you can mix that feed different than what is coming out over the PA feed and it was not mixed very well.

Re: Video Of SB National Anthem
You also have to wonder how well Ford Field is built to handle acoustics. It kind of sounded like they were playing in a public restroom.

Re: Video Of SB National Anthem
Wow I just tried to listen to it. . . . but couldn't take it. That sounded like the opening for a third grade talent show.

I agree with you!!! The sound could have been mixed better but it was still the national anthem things don't always have to be so dry and traditional.... variety is the spice of life.. |
Re: Video Of SB National Anthem
I would rather be attacked by a shark than have to watch that again...
